Been here twice in the past month. Food is very fresh and unique. They have ipads for ordering and service take out orders. They don't take reservations and it is very small. They have a couple tables outside on the patio also. The octopus is delicious, salmon sashimi is amazing and shrimp tempura is fabulous, I also really enjoy the salmon tartar.
Great ambience.

Would recommend all those japanese food lovers to go here and try it out.
I ordered the tonkatsu ramen and the chicken gyoza , both were lip-smacking.
One of the few good places in London for somewhat authentic Asian food. Sakata offers everything from sushi, to ramen, and curry. Would definitely recommend the latter two as I've had them several times and never been disappointed.
First time I tasted black sesame seed ice cream and it was as close to the authentic Japanese flavour in Canada!
The sushi itself is fantastic itself. We had a good experience and didn't receive leftovers with a bland taste. Loved the presentation style as well.
I came here for dinner for a friend's birthday and it was good but not terribly great. I am a vegetarian so I would have liked to see a few more options in the ramen selection for vegetarians. I had the veggie platter which was pretty great value for money however.
The food is better than any other Japanese restaurants in London. Standard menu is fairly priced and nicely portioned. For the foodies you can ask the owner to provide you with a selection of the catch of the day that might not be on the menu or mentioned. Of course you might be paying a lot extra but it usually is worth it. Music sucks sometimes.
We had a really nice dinner here - the service was prompt and the food was delicious. We came for the ramen, but the sushi and Japanese cheesecake were definite highlights as well. Decently priced - would definitely recommend!
Came here on a Sunday night before returning to school. Initially, we had planned to go to Mongolian Grill, but as they didn't accept the Western One Card and we didn't feel paying the full price for stir-fried food, we moved here.
All of us ordered ramen (three original Tonkotsu, one miso Tonkotsu). The service was average, but the food was really good! My egg was quite disappointing, as it was cold and hardboiled; however, the broth, bamboo shoots, and noodles were very delicious! We left extraordinarily satisfied.
I'm sad to say that as an Asian I have never tried ramen until now, but this is some next level noodle soup. I ordered the spicy ramen (so hot and so delicious), the yam fries (basically seasoned sweet potato fries, they were really good) the pork belly skewers (OMG YOU HAVE TO ORDER THESE. They're worth the $5 and oh so juicy). I also tried a few of their sushi rolls, better than your average AYCE but not the best I've ever had. The service was also very diligent... Almost to the point when they were awkwardly interrupting conversation just to refill my water for the 5th time but better than not refilling it at all! Overall I would say that ramen from this place has made me a ramen lover for life and I will definitely be back to try their other noodle soups!

Real ramen in London. Me and my boyfriend came here on a whim when we realized Kawa Sushi (our go-to place for real ramen) was closed due to it being a monday. It was pretty busy and they had the patio open. Which was pretty impressive, the wall opens for the patio, probably like a garage door. We both ordered tonkotsu ramen. I went upstairs to use the bathroom I was surprised to find a whole separate bar up there! Although the stairs were veery steep. (I can't help but think putting the bar up there would lead to a bunch of drunks falling down the steps.) Anyways! They've done a beautiful job decorating with the little space they have.
On to the food! My boyfriend got the regular tonkotsu, and I asked for mine without the black fungus (don't panic I know it sounds weird, but remember mushrooms are fungi too). It was delicious. Only $10 for a bowl bigger than your head. It's the usual price for ramen, but ramen is a big bang for your buck, especially if it's tasty. This was a pleasant surprise. The service wasn't especially quick, but it wasn't slow either. Seeing as they had only had one server, they handled the lunch rush very well.
The Crispy Spicy Salmon Roll here is an absolute revelation. As is their Spicy Ramen, which I've enjoyed more times than I care to admit. After living here for 12 years I can confidently say that this is my favorite restaurant in London Ontario.
The food was absolutely delicious. It's a small place so we had to wait about half an hour for a table but it was worth it.

Little gem in the middle of chaotic downtown. Lots of options to try out especially ramens and curry rice. Haven’t tried the sushi so I wont comment on that. We are always greeted and served in a timely manner. They close later than most restaurants so that’s another bonus points. Parking is free on the side street where Chil (frozen yogurt) is.
10/10 must try when you’re in downtown London!
