I go to London several times a year, and whenever I do I go to Olde London Fish and Chips for their halibut - have never had better! All their fish has a very light batter, is not greasy and does not the "fishy taste". In fact, I am usually there for 3 days at a time and I go there every night! The servers are awesome. They are friendly and provide excellent service. Restaurant is very clean.
This place is a hidden gem. The fish and chips are so good! The price is great. The place itself is not too fancy but it's always clean and stuff is really good.
The place is located in a strip mall behind a gas station by the giant ice cream cone off of Southdale road. Safe for a sign on the side of the road that shows the name of businesses located in the strip mall, there is no other telltale of its existence that you can see from the road. Despite all that, if you go there for dinner on a Friday night, expect to stand in line and if it happens to be cold outside, bring a jacket because, chances are, the line may extend out the door. By the way, I would love to take picture of the line but I think it may upset some people so I didn't.
My favourite is the 2 whitefish and chip combo with additional 4 shrimps. The orders have always come out in a timely manner, the fish pieces were generous and light (no heavy batter taste) and the chips were good.
No picture of the fish, chips or shrimps either because, every time, I would be too overwhelmed by my desire to devour the whole thing the moment I got home to remember to take picture. Sorry, maybe next time.
Best fish and chips EVER. The fish and chips here (haddock) was seriously the best fish and chips I have ever had.
Batter was light and flakey and the fish was soft and just fell apart perfectly when you cut into it. Seriously my new favourite fish and chips location in London!
Busy, good. Buddy and I were here a few weeks back for the all you can eat deal. Just under $10 no drink. It is whithfish, but that's expected for an all you can eat for under $10. Chips included too
Once seated and ordered the first plate seamed to take quite a while, maybe 15 min. But they were very prompt at asking if we wanted more and more fish arrived in seconds.
Was a busy night there.
Authentic. Fish and Chips are amazing. They bread every piece fresh on the spot. Usually I order the Chips extra crispy and they are quite good. I've had the fried mushrooms, not such a fan, and mushy peas, which is a basic side if you have an acquired taste for them. Dining area is small and ordinary.
Best fish and chips around. I have been eating at olde londons fish and chips for almost 10 yrs my husband and I always order the halibut and chips they are the best the batter is light and crispy on the fish.
Just discovered this little treasure! I've tried many fish and chip places and this one by far has the best I've tried! The batter is so light and crispy! The fish is amazing and doesn't hold the grease the way other fish and chip places do. It's a quaint little place and very busy with very friendly service. I would highly recommend this place for great food and service.
The food was great! Seemed a bit pricy but when I saw how HUGE the servings were it made up for it. One piece there is actually two pieces of fish. So in the 2 piece meal you get 4 pieces which is more then enough for two people to share! Would totally go back!
Very good. Take-out halibut and chips were great. Fish was fresh and cooked in clean oil. Note: closed Mondays, and if you are a fan of tartar sauce, pay the premium for the house made lest you get the packet of ??? Enjoy!
