Review Bertoldi's - London

Atmosphere was great. Unfortunately did not get to dine outside as it was so close to closing hour. Chicken strawberry salad was personally enjoyable sans the surprisingly sour vinaigrette that was then tastily balanced out with my buddy's unwanted side corn dish from a very well-reviewed steak. Thanks for the great service and give our blessings to the cute server we briefly chatted with on our way out. AyyeđŸ‘đŸ»

Omg, I love Chuck's so much. I can say we hogged on food this time. We had "chucktails" and beer plus garlic bread, wings, spinach artichoke dip, burgers! The server was very kind enough to suggest us when to order and what to order. He was friendly too. The vibe is good too. Oh we had bruschetta as well 😁 phew.

Wonderful service. They were polite cheerful and food arrived quick and hot!!We had the 8 dollar lunch special. Hamburger and fries. It's was so good. Just the right amount. Grilled how I like it. What a great deal!!

Had our Christmas staff party there and we all enjoyed ourselves. The food was great and so were apps. Seems more like a younger get together bar, tons of teens and adults in their young 20s but hey we’re all out for a great time! Was very lovely!

Incredible menu, there is something for everyone. The food was fast, hot, and fresh. Bathrooms were clean as was the floor and main dining area. Friendly staff and good prices. Nice size portions. I will be back

A tad noisy for my liking, but the food more than makes up for it. The Chuck's Buck No. 99 was so good, we had to double down on it! The steak bites and ribs were excellent, but the ribs could do with a little more spice. We'll make sure to mention that next time we're in.

Food was excellent. Half price appetizers after 9PM is a great deal. Very busy for after 9PM. Waitress was nice but had trouble keeping track of our orders and the cheque took a while to come. Wings are highly recommended.

One of London’s prettiest patios in the downtown area. The servers were super sweet and welcoming and the food is great. If you’re confused about where to go for lunch or dinner, chucks won’t disappoint.

In general the place is good. Some days its real busy. Both times i was there my steak was a bit over cooked. Last time i was there the manager said next time i go in i will get a discount on it. If your in a wheel chair and they see you there they will have the door open befor u arrive at the door. They have a ramp. Good experience over all

First of all, I ordered my filet medium well, which I know is not popular. It came and it was perfect. Cooked exactly right and was so tender and delicious. I only gave 4 stars because of presentation. The corn was in a fruit bowl on the plate. It was clunky and between the bowl and the lobster tail, the steak was completely hidden. Put the bowl on the side or do away with it altogether. I would come back for the quality and value though.

The food is always great and they provide excellent service. My favourites are the ribs and steak.

Great place. Appetizer with no seasoning. Other than that. Great service. I have a large 8 oz steak medium and my partner had a led qtr with ribs. We thoroughly enjoyed it

First and foremost I want to give a shout out to Emma our server! On a busy Friday night she remembered our orders as a group and got them perfectly each time with the best attitude ever. My whole group agreed she is the best server we’ve ever had! Oh yeah, and the food and drinks were amazing as always but I just want to thank Emma :)

2018/08/22
This evening I felt like having Italian, so I headed over to Bertoldi’s. This is a larger, full service restaurant. It wasn’t very busy when I arrived for an early dinner.

I started out with the Misticanza Salad, with a bed of field greens, cherry tomatoes, oil and vinegar dressing, and shaved Parmesan cheese. A light way to begin the meal.

For my main course I chose the Chicken Parmigiana, which usually comes with veggies and pasta. I asked for extra veggies instead of pasta, which was not a problem. The chicken was one whole breast, lightly breaded, then fried, topped with sauce and mozzarella, and broiled to melt the cheese. The breading sealed in the juices, keeping the chicken moist. The chicken sat atop a bed of sautéed spinach, mushrooms and peanuts, with a marinara sauce. The crunch of the peanuts gave some balance to the softness of the spinach and mushrooms.

Service was pretty good, so all in all, a nice meal.

We were originally headed to another Italian restaurant in town but we thought we would try out Bertoldi's for the first time. The weather was great so we sat on the outside patio upstairs. The food was really good, we had the warm olives, octopus for starters. I had the spaghetti and meatballs and my husband had the pizza. The food was great and the atmosphere was great. We will go back again

I dropped in at Bertoldi's for dinner tonight. Travelling alone on a business trip , the staff were happy to provide me with a table large enough to accommodate my laptop for a working dinner. Matt the bartender was attentive and knowledgeable with menu suggestions and recommendations. I settled on the poached salmon penne. Once my entree arrived I decided within a few bites , it was not what I expected and not to my liking. I asked Matt if I could see the menu again and and ordered the mushroom ravioli and steak Chianti pasta. It arrived quickly. The Manager Tori asked me if I like scallops and do-she said she would be right back. She quickly returned with one of the specials of the day-perfectly seared and buttery scallops atop lemon angel hair pasta. The mushroom ravioli was flavourful and the pasta was tender as was the steak. Needless to say, my one entree had been replaced by two delicious entrees -without any questions asked as I would have been happy to pay for the replacement entree. Kudos to Tori and Matt for excellent customer service and for going above and beyond to make a guest happy-thank you. I would definitely recommend Bertolldi's and will be backQ

I go here often with the family. it's the type of place you take grandpa on his birthday. the food tastes good and the servers are ok. most menu items are standard ingredients with standard taste. prices are very high for almost no innovation. it's your mid range Italian with high end prices. it just looks good in comparison with the competition in the neighborhood.
Arooba Baig
Amazing food, very friendly staff. I really like the decor. I recommend the seafood linguine, I have had it twice. Recommend Bertoldi’s to anyone looking for a night out or a decent Italian food place
Cristina
Wonderful spot to go for date night. I loved the atmosphere and our server was amazing. As an Italian, it is hard to find a good Italian restaurant in town. This is the best restaurant I've found so far.

If you don't know where to go for food in downtown at any day go to Bertoldi's. The quality of food is steady, service is always pretty good. Big portion, fairly priced. Good olive oil. Cheap oyster when in season.

I came here a few weeks ago when visiting a couple friends in London. It's a nice Italian restaurant with some great dishes. We started with the bruschetta and margherita pizza. Not sure if the standard is 6 pieces and slices, but this was perfect for our group of 3.

The pizza had a little more crust than I would've liked but overall no complaints.

I had the gnocchi with Gorgonzola sauce (my go to dish at any Italian restaurant) and it definitely met my expectations.

I think Bertoldi's will be our go to for dinner any time we're back in London.
Fine Diner
Decent Italian restaurant. We took 2 out of town visitors to this place and were not disappointed. Shared both bruschetta dishes but would recommend just the tomato pesto one.
We ordered a variety of dishes including linguini di mere, chicken Parmesan, chicken Marsela and gnookie
Most dishes were received very positively although the gnookie dish seemed a little undercooked. Service was average as our waitress took a while to get our order although picked up after she took our order. Overall a good experience but not outstanding enough to make us want to return quickly. Too many other good places to explore.
There is also the negative that they do not take reservations which creates some anxiety for a night out

Reservations. Not able to take reservations unless you are 10 persons or more is annoying ....WHY ?..... What's the advantage to the restaurant and why the customer comes in last ?
Franco
Italian?. Since I was born and raised in it Italy, I can tell you that this is NOT italian food. Its kind of cute how they try with the decor though.

Food was a big let down. Wife could not eat the duck risotto, said it tasted horrible and m&m's makes a better lasagna. Very disappointing it was our second attempt here and was consistent with our first visit. Definitely won't be a third.

Great dining experience!. Had a $50 card as a gift so I decided to take my sister out, and the service was great!! The waitress was very polite, our water was refilled frequently and the food and drinks were amazing!! I will be renturning again for sure! :)

Overrated italian food.... After dining twice for dinner on separate occasions, Does NOT taste anything like "italian" food. No flavor. Tomato sauce tastes like it's out of a $1 can. Should put more care into creating tastier dishes.
The Diner
Lousy Italian Food. I've been to Bertoldi's three times. Each time I've been disappointed by a restaurant that, to my shock, always appears to be busy. My last visit was this past Friday. I ordered the New York striploin. It was a below average piece of meat slathered with some weird fig and balsamic sauce. The potato rosti on the side was the meal's highlight, which isn't saying much. In no way was this meal (or any meal I've ever had at this restaurant previously) worth $25-$30.

Nice. Not bad at all. The servers are young, probably students at the nearby schools. They're polite, and the food (penne with vodka) is decent and inexpensive if you don't splurge on wine. Only gripe is that sometimes the sausage can taste like it was boiled for six hours before being served.
Catherine Ann
Great spot. I went with a friend for lunch during a weekday. Looked like the kind of place you could have a 'working lunch' but also meet up with a girlfriend. The service was excellent - really enjoyed it.

Eeeeeeeeeh. Food: not worth the price. Everything was salty, and tasted like a frozen dinner.

Atmosphere: reminded me of my grandmother's cottage.

Service: okay. They didn't really seem very friendly.

I didn't necessarily hate my experience, but I probably won't be back. There are other places in London more worthy of my money.

Did not enjoy. Lousy corporate food put together by minimum wagers or at least that's what it seems. Not a good value and food was more than it was worth.
Allie
Their bruschetta was like soggy naan bread with overly oiled pile of tomatoes no cheese or herbs.
The Caesar salad had dried chicken I had to gulp water with every bite and was over dressed. 2 salads and pathetic bruschetta for 50 dollars? Ill pass next time. Good service will never make up for over extremely priced food

Not Great....not bad.. We have been to Bertoldi's a couple of times now. Looks wonderful, and it's in a great location. The food is okay. I had the wood roasted prosciutto, and the Linquine Di Mare. The prosciutto was fine, salty and warm which is what you expect but nothing to balance that salt. The pasta was okay, nothing really flavourful. We will not go back there as there are too many other interesting places to eat in London. I would recommend Kantina, The Only, and even The Tasting Room over Bertoldi's.

Best Allergy Friendly meal ever!. My husband and I stopped here last night for dinner on our way through town. I have various allergies including gluten and dairy. When I explained the situation to the server she brought over a special menu indicating which of the regular menu items are or could be gluten free and she said that just about anything could be made dairy free. I have had very poor luck with getting decent tasting food in a restaurant once I explain my needs. Based on this, I was not hoping for much. I was wonderfully surprised! The food was very tasty, and perfectly cooked. It was so good that I ordered a second meal as take out for my lunch the next day! When I ate that meal today it was somewhat disappointing (it was gluten free pasta with plain tomato sauce). Not the restaurant's fault, it was cooked fine. GF pasta just tends to be pretty horrible in my opinion. Overall, this was by far the best experience I have had since going gluten free.

Bertoldi's serves up a delicious antipasta, but the real creme of the crop is the osso bucco. The serving is huge and for $23.00, we split it. Ask for waiter Mark. He will explain what pasta puttanesca means.
Aruzia
Very sub-par. I had the chicken scallopine with gnocchi. The meat was dry and flavorless and gnocchi, very condensed and hard. It seemed as though it was frozen and just reheated. Service was good but did not make up for the food.
Would not come back.

Had a wonderful lunch. Gr.... Had a wonderful lunch.

Great food anf service.
RB
Great Antipasti!. We tried the wood roasted prosciutto on our server's recommendation and we weren't steered wrong - yum! Prosciutto rolled around mozzarella and basil, baked until the prosciutto starts to sizzle and the cheese melts - served with a balsamic reduction drizzle. Wow! Our pasta entrees were good (ravioli and the pasta pescatore), but I'll go back for the prosciutto and a glass of red alone.
M
Nice restaurant. I enjoyed their "Roasted Chicken & House Cured Pancetta"; it was a bit oily but very good!
Shan
A very nice resturant. I have been to Bertoldis twice now and I really enjoy the experience. The atmosphere is great and the food is delicious and unique. The pachuto & arugula pizza is very tasty

Standard suburban Italian Food. The food is OK. Nothing fantastic but not bad. I've eaten there more than a dozen times as it is down the street from my old office. The service is good. Prices are typical of the type restaurant. I know a number of people that order beer because they don't want to spring for a $15 glass of Pinot Gricio. If you live in the burbs you can get the same quality of food for less $ and not have to drive as far.
Amy
Delicious. Excellent, fresh food and beautiful atmosphere. Very clean and excellent service. This place is a must for any business dinner or romantic evening or just a nice night out with fresh, non-processed food. Love the bread and oil to start. The chicken parm is excellent with fresh greens. Highly recommended.

Bertoldi's is a great all around Italian place and is consistently the best food I've eaten in London ON. While it doesn't compare to the gourmet kitchens of Toronto, (or, for that matter, even Montreal) Bertoldi's is pretty good and I have no complaints. The fact is it is in a city where going to 'milestones' is considered going to a high quality, fancy restaurant so I doubt that the chef has had any challenges recently. It's a simple place, but a good place - and that really is the essence of a true Italian restaurant.
Food For Fun
Cozy Italian. Wonderful atmosphere and good serives, the soup was good, but not great. The hand made gnocci was fantastic, although the gorgonzola sauce wasn't as good as it could be. Overall a good place to eat, for people who go to italian restaurants to order spaghetti and meatballs, don't! Unless it's home made spaghetti more ofter then not you'll either leave content or having thought you wasted your money, a suggestion: Try something else ;)
Kirk
My go-to Italian restaurant when my wife and I want a nice dinner out. The fresh risottos are delicious and they change them regularly, and the gnocchi with the gorgonzola cream sauce is heavenly! Prices for most dishes are not much higher than what you would pay at a place like Kelsey's but the food is of a much higher quality.

A true fav!! Reliable & well priced. Addicted to the bread & oil. Atmosphere beautiful, staff friendly & a no rush environment. Always go back & never disappointed

Went with a large group for a late dinner...well received by attentive, polite staff...decent wine list and everyone enjoyed the food...

Worst Spaghetti in London. It was last year that I went there on my birthday with my friends. I got just a regular meatsauce spaghetti that was about 25 dollar which I thought it's pretty expansive. The taste? I wouldn't be happy even if this was under $10. There was barely no sauce, the shrimps were completely overcooked and the pasta was kind of hard. My friends all ordered different dishes for each (pizza, alfredo pasta, etc..) and some thought it was just okay but non of them were happy.
They should definitely lower the prices or develop the quality of their food.

Excellent Italian. I have eaten at Bertoldi's several times and never been let down. The sword fish special was excellent and could not have been better. There angel hair pasta with mint and almonds is great as well, and their pizzas are delicious. In a city where there are far to many east side Mario's, Bertoldi's is a breath of fresh air

Mediocre. Very nice atmosphere and friendly service, but have been consistently disappointed by the food. Abruzzi is much better if you need a fix of Italian food.

Very nice waiters. Could use more bread but very tasty food.

Soo Good. Bolognese = heavenly

great food, decent wine list and great service

A very nice restaurant. Wine list could use a bit more breadth. Consistently good quality.
