Great food, great service, very reasonable price. One of my favorite go-to restaurants in London.
Be sure to call ahead for a table as it is very small. Very popular for takeout service. Be aware, no liquor license! This makes dining out very affordable.
Just moved into this neighborhood recently and Mai's serves the most authentic Thai food in the vicinity. Try the curries and Jasmin rice - it's mind blowing!
Second time was just as incredible as first! This time we chose fresh spring rolls with shrimp, cashew chicken with rice and red curry without rice. I ordered the latter and it was incredible. The broth was a tad spicy but awesome and i consumed all of it!
I often stop in here for lunch with friends. It's a great go-to place any time The pad Thai is delicious. The service is great and tucked away in Wortley Village creates a wonderful neighborhood feel.
We live within walking distance, and like to support local business, so have been going to Mai's since it opened. Their pad thai (veggie AND with shrimp) is delicious: freshly prepared with fresh ingredients, every time, and not too spicy or greasy. My vegetables were varied & colourful; even the carrots had fringed edges. As a vegetarian, I look for protein: my pad thai had both scrambled egg (traditional) and tasty, fairly tender tofu sticks throughout so I was very satisfied, and had enough for lunch the next day!
Our fresh rolls were lovely and included some mint (instead of cilantro), served with a tasty but light dipping sauce.
We will return, for other dishes (if we can help not ordering our favourite pad thai!), for sure.
Breakfast is a simple and a good price. If your looking for some delicious I pad Thai you need to come here. It Is a very generous portion and tastes amazing!
Came here with a bunch of friends; 3/5 of us ordered their famous pad thai, one got the emerald curry and another the ginger chicken.
I absolutely adored the pad thai!! It wasn't too greasy, but full of flavour. The ingredients were very interesting but generous... for instance, there were red peppers, tofu, lots of fried egg, chicken, and shrimp. Loved it and would definitely return, especially since it's located in such a quaint and homely Wortley Village! My friend also enjoyed her curry. It appeared extremely watered down but she claimed it was greatly flavorful and extremely spicy!
The waitress there was also very kind and cheerful. Her service (attitude, constant smile, and colourful eye makeup) truly made my day!
If you're looking for a casual date spot with tasteful decor and decent Thai food then I strongly encourage you to check out Mai's! It's a little out of the way being in Wortley village and all but the service is friendly and the green curry here is packed full of flavour. The pad Thai is a little small for the price but they don't skimp on the meat and veggies. I would also recommend the mango salad as a refreshing (but delightfully spicy) appetizer! Overall if you have money to spend and want a more elevated Thai food experience then this is the spot for you.
My second favorite place for pad thai. The flavors are great and the noodles are cooked to perfection. The portion size is decent, prices aren't too bad. The restaurant is small, not a lot of tables and if it's hot outside it'll be hot inside, the air-conditioning sucks but the decor is really nice. The server was really nice. I asked about vegetarian food, she said the chef would make anything veggie on the menu for me, which is always nice to hear.
I didn't like it the first time I went in but must have had a bad experience. They do an awesome breakfast and a great dinner, not to mention the service is always friendly and familiar.
Thanks ladies.
We love Mai’s and will often go out of our way to have a meal there. My husband just loves the mango salad. The pad Thai is so delicious too. The dining space is lovely and relaxing.
This place is great for takeout. The food is always so fresh and the customer service is lovely. Lots of colours and fresh ingredients. Great for feeding a crowd. Highly recommend!
The Thai beef red curry is my personal favourite.
EDIT:
AUTHENTIC. Their chicken fried rice is amazing. Freshly cooked to perfection and lots of amazing spices. I requested that they make it spicy, and they did not disappoint! Gave me an amazing chilli sauce to go with the rice!
Friendly customer service and the vibe is very calming and relaxing with soothing music playing inside.
Definitely going to be back to try out the Thai curry and pad Thai
Unfortunately appetizers were too bland for my taste…. But I will come back to try the pad Thai and Thai curries.
Dine-in is peaceful and I love the location. Employee is friendly and the restaurant has an overall calming vibe.
I’ve tried pad Thai at most locations in London. This has got to be top favourite for me. So good! Flavour is authentic, fresh, portion is perfect and price is very affordable! If you like a kick (spice) in your food, I highly recommend Mai’s homemade chilly flake in the jar.
My bookkeeper took me here for a business lunch. It is very small inside with only room for about 20 people at 5 tables. It is always packed because the food is AMAZING! We started with the appetizer spring rolls - delicious. Next we enjoyed the chicken and seafood Pad Thai. It was simply amazing and the portion was very large. We both are large men and could only get through half of it. Fortunately, they boxed it up so we can take it home and enjoy it later. For only $14 per plate, it was unbelievable. I will certainly eat here again and further I plan to use it for take out when we work late and don't have time to make dinner! Try it, you will love it! One of Wortley Village's best kept secrets.
My omlette was light and fluffy and perfectly cooked. The home fries were the best I have ever had. We even took away the green curry for dinner later and it was fantastic. Can't wait to go back.
Quaint small restaurant in Wortley Village that serves traditional Thai cuisine, as well as other dishes that are suitable for local palates. Really enjoyed the rich flavour of the Green Curry with chicken ($13.99+tax), though wish the portion size was larger. The Pad Thai w/ chicken ($13.99) is a classic and makes you wanting more. Mai's platter ($12.99) has an assortment of appetizers to sample for the indecisive folks. Beautiful decor inside despite the unassuming exterior. Somewhat distinct restaurant from the other pub-style restaurants mainly lining the block. Worth a visit!
Best Pad Thai in London!! Green Curry was also so yummy and the hostess was so kind!
The portions were generous for good pricing ($13.99/dish). A pleasant and clean environment for a delicious meal.
My most favorite place to order Thai food in London. When I order take out, they are quick to prepare my order and it is usually ready by the time I drive there. When we dine in, the service is amazing and the food is hot and delicious. Absolutely in love with the restaurant staff and food.
Really amazing food to be honest. Actual authentic flavors that brought me back to my time in Thailand. They woman serving was super lovely and you can tell they have a strong connection with all of their client base.
Tom Yum soup is the favorite to get on a rainy cold day. Pad Thai was also really good!
