Review Concordia Club - Kitchener

So very pleasantly surprised! We were invited to a private party held at Concordia Club back in December 2020. I did not give it too much thoughts when I arrived as the building was very dated. They had a little private room for gatherings and we only had one staff to tend to a party of 50. The service was a bit slow but friendly. We were very impressed with the beer selection! Then came the food…. All dishes were served hot, fresh and appetizing! The portion was generous. Even kiddie menu’s chicken fingers looked finger licking good. We live a bit far away but if we are back in the area, we will certainly Return!

Food is always excellent, fresh, good portion and reasonable. Have been going for years and have always had great food and friendly service. Traditional German food at its best along with an authentic atmosphere.

My party of 6 ate at the restaurant during the Christkindl Market weekend. We had an excellent experience, both food and service. The service was exceptional - we were sat fairly quickly even without a reservation with a friendly attitude. The servers were attentive, prompt, and even joked around with the kids. The menu as always had more items I wanted to eat than I had room to eat. I went with the Cheese Spaetzel and Currywurst. With 2 sausages and a giant plate, this felt like a serving for 2! (I had the leftovers for lunch the next day.) My whole table was pleased with their choices. We also had a pitcher of Erdinger to enjoy with the meal. I wouldn't hesitate to come back, what a great atmosphere for comfort food!

The ONLY Authentic German restaurant in Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge and even as far as Hamilton. This is THE spot to go. It is fashioned to look like a real gastoff from Germany. Some of the servers wear the traditional garb and the portions are humongous. Crispy schnitzel, fine beer and great atmosphere. They also offer a 2 for 1 schnitzel dinner most evenings ( may have to look on the site or call ahead of time to inquire) They are kind of a best kept secret for lunch as most people don't know they are open during the day most weekdays. Check them out, you really won't be disappointed!

Now if you want a traditional German meal this is the place. I have had take out every time and have never been disappointed once. The portion sizes are huge and the meals are out of this world. I would love to give this place a bonus star because it's that great.

This is an excellent restaurant with a very well appointed buffet. The staff members were very professional and friendly. We had a very positive experience. The dessert table had many different selections. The items we had were delicious. The dessert table alone is worth the visit. We recommend visiting.

This is a cool venue to see a live band play while eating dinner outside on the patio. I really enjoyed my meal and tried a great beer for the first time, which I would now consider one of my favourites. I enjoyed my visit to Concordia Club and would recommend others try it out for themselves.

The excellence of the food combined with reasonable prices makes the Concordia Club at 429 Ottawa Street one of the best restaurant secrets in Kitchener and surrounding area. Although a German, it is welcoming to anyone and the menu gives sufficient varety and is not too narrowly ethnic. All dishes are well-prepared and served in the homey ambience of a restaurant in the old country. Traditional German dishes such as Sauerbraten, Wiener Schnitzel and Beef Rouladen with red cabbage, Spätzle, dumplings or sauerkraut are available the $14 to $16 range. - As Canadians we often have a very narrow view of German food and culture and often substitute Bavarian for German, even our restaurants do it, just because American soldiers used to be stationed in Bavaria for many years. - The Concordia club menu recognizes the diversity of German cuisine and offers specialties like the Finkenwerder fish dish or the North German Bismarck Herring ($7.50) as a tasty appetizer. - There are also seasonal specialties that appeal to my palate, with white asparagus and ham in June and kale ("Grünkohl") based meals in the Fall. - For those who are new to German food, or who cannot quite decide, I have two suggestion: Option 1. Come any Thursday evening after 5 p.m. with a friend. On Thursdays pork "Wiener Schnitzel" dinners are on "Special", selling 2 for $18.99, plus tax and tips. Come with a Concordia Member, with a membership card (a body may join) and the bill is reduced by 15%. - Option 2: Come with a friend and try the "smorgasbord" ( a bit of everything) Concordia Platter for $18.50. For I believe a $2.00 surcharge for an extra plate you can a share a bit of everything. - For those with a good appetite there is (yes you have guessed it) a very ample "Bavarian" Buffet on Wednesdays at lunch ($11.95) and at dinner with sinfully tempting dessert table choices for a mere $14.95 per person. - Overall, dining at the Concordia Club is a positive experience, that is pleasing to the palate and to the pocketbook, with perhaps the exception of the price of beer. - A 12 ounce bottle of Canadian beer at $5.50 before tax and tip is perhaps not a great bargain, but Concordia's big 1 litre bottle of house wine is a relative bargain, and my wife and I prefer to drink wine with a meal! - Lastly, and to protect myself from the comments that $5.50 plus tax and tip is NOT a bargain price for beer, I will state that Bavarian beer sold at the 2014 Munich Oktoberfest, in their huge full 1-litre glass mugs called "Maß" (Mass) for 9.75 Euros each (tax and service included) was, in fact cheaper, gulp for gulp, than selling our Canadian beer ar $5.50 a bottle, plus tax, plus tip. - But, I know, we have different taxes in Ontario, and even my nicely decorated Canadian Legion on Belmont Street charges $4.10 for a bottle of Canadian beer, which includes the tax, and a minor tip is optional. - The main point of this article is to encourage you to come to the Concordia Club for the excellence of food.

Our night started off good, my first time going here for Oktoberfest but as the night progressed I observed aggressive staff, we had small encounter of our own that once challenged by a few middle aged women gave up and left our table alone. Many people were over served and drunk but because they were friends of staff members they were over looked. I was shocked to some many intoxicated people get behind the wheel. At the end of the night we waited in line in the pouring rain for our cab we were next up and one of the bouncers disregarded us just to allow his buddies jump in front of us and take our cab, most rude service I have ever experienced in years! The food was good the beer selection was awful only one choice on tap...it's a Bavarian festival and our option was Molson Canadian at a high price. I will never go back to this venue again, we will remain loyal patrons to Bingemans

We were first timers on Friday night, for the Buffet, the food was great, the best Schnitzels ever! Katrine was our server and she was amazing, very friendly ( we were the Aussies in a group of 10), will definitely be back again.
