Had a great dining experience here, the food was amazing and the service was professional! Such a warm atmosphere, overall a very sophisticated place!
Great food and atmosphere combined with great service makes for an enjoyable evening. Pasta and chicken dishes were a great choice on a winter evening. definitely will be back!
Truly amazing food. Some of the best pasta, bread and cheese cake I have ever had. Would 100% return. Perfect date night place! Very good prices for the quality of food and service.
Service: Familial
Atmosphere: Classy and elegant
Food: delightful
Would return? Absolutely.
My girlfriend decided on this place after doing a quick google search for top K/W restaurants. Again google did not lie. We were greeted by some soft French jazz and the very kind proprietor. The space was well lit with a quaint bar, and the walls lightly decorated. Once seated we were given a quick run down of the establishment. We were pleased to hear that 271 West makes all of its pasta from scratch, its fish is brought in fresh, and its sauces and desserts are all made in house.
We worked our way to the drink menu choosing a chardonnay and a Manhattan. The wine wasn't as dry as most and had a nice fruity finish, and the cocktail was nice; a little heavy on the vermouth but still a smooth drink. Also, just a note there was no garnish on the Manhattan. Nothing groundbreaking, but for people who need things done the traditional way you might not find it here.
Looking through the menu we found that it was varied, not just focused on Italian dishes. We decided on the cheese garlic bread for an appetizer. For the main, my mind was made up when the special was mentioned, and my girlfriend settled on the salmon, holding off on the mushrooms.
The bread was so soft and its natural taste was a great accent to the garlic and cheese, which was not overpowering in the least. It was clear that bread was made fresh that day and it wasn't too filling like some others.
As stated before, I order the special which was fettuccine alfredo with chicken, red and green peppers, mushrooms, and green onions. It was a great dish, with the sauce being creamy, but not drowning out everything else. The chicken was cut into nice, tender chunks and the greenery added a wonderful variance to the entree. It also came with two slices of garlic bread; it was a nice surprise to get a second helping. The salmon champignon, which I guess should just be called the salmon, had a great lemon and wine reduction with cambozola cheese, served on top of rice pilaf, with some vegetables on the side. The fish had a great flavour that wasn't too fishy, which was a good change of pace.
For dessert we decided on the flourless chocolate cake, which was crumbly and rich, with walnuts baked in. It was served with a great helping of french vanilla ice cream, which wasn't necessary due to how moist the cake was. Still the combination was great and it was a wonderful ending to a delicious meal.
In the end it was an excellent evening with great food, kind and friendly staff, and fairly good cocktails. I will definitely be returning here and trying out some of their pizza.
Excellent. I don't understand the bad reviews. Four of us had dinner. Caesar salads, soup, Philly steak pizza, ricotta gnocchi, chicken pasta special, salmon linguine. Everyone loved their food. Service was at the right level of attentiveness. Prices reasonable. Would definitely go again and we recommend it highly.
Grilled Camembert to die for!. I've been back 4 times in the past month (every week!) bringing all my friends and family to try the grilled camembert which tastes AMAZING. Some might find it too sweet since it uses caramel sauce with dried cranberries and apricots but it compliments the cheese very well. Their flourless chocolate cake also tasted quite good, as well as their pizzas. I'm not a die-hard fan of their homemade pastas although they do taste unique and the portions are quite generous.
Overall, the camembert is the highlight of the restaurant and I highly recommend it! (it's the only reason why I go back so often!)
I took my wife here for an anniversary dinner date. Outstanding food!. The owner and son made us feel welcome and special. I had the fresh pasta and scallops. I still think about this meal almost a year later. I can't wait to dine here again.
Highly recommended *****
I’ve been to this restaurant a few times over the years. Their Camembert appetizer is the most delicious thing ever, their gnocchi a close second. I’ve tried other options on their menu, and sometimes it’s a miss for me. However, their staff is amazing, and the owner is so sweet! The prices are a high (for my budget at least), but it is always worth it.
The pastas are great! We tried the daily pasta and one of the hand-made pastas. Both taste wonderful, and the bread is good too. Z is very welcome and gave us detailed suggestion about ordering. Definitely recommend!
Handmade pasta is very good. I wish they had more non-seafood options. 90% of the pastas are with seafood. I was expecting to see more classic food like Carbonara, garlic aioli, etc …
Creme brulee was super delicious tho.
Great drinks, amazing food and incomparable service! We walked in 45 minutes to closing and just as we were going to turn around, the owner let us sit down, notified the kitchen and took care of us for the rest of the night. 1000% recommend the penne pesto di manzo, top notch quality ingredients and very saucey which we love. This was our 2nd time visiting and this was even better than the last! You got repeat customers here for sure.
The service was spectacular from beginning to end. The atmosphere was super friendly and nice. The food was amazing! My boyfriend and I both ordered a seafood linguine with white sauce. The seasoning was perfect along with the handmade pasta. Will definitely come back for more visits!
Food was too notch. You can taste the difference as their noodles are made in house. Service was excellent as well. Will be coming back for sure
I found a new favorite spot!
I visited for the first time tonight and it definitely won't be my last. My husband and I had reservations so we didn't have to wait. I'm glad we did as the spot is small and quaint but BUSY!!! Everything we tried were cooked to perfection. The service was excellent!!!! The owner was very caring and wanted to ensure ALL his customers were taken care of and satisfied. It was someone's birthday and he blasted "Bella Ciao" from Money heist on the speakers. All my waiters were fantastic, especially Dan and I seriously would kiss the cook. The food was cooked to PERFECTION!!! Incredibly delicious and excellent service. I highly recommend 271 West in their new spot.
I was sold on homemade pasta and boy did it live up. The Camembert appetizer is so good and while I loved my gnocchi my husband loved his shrimp and scallop linguini. You will be stuffed so walk in with a really good appetite!
Exceptional overall experience! Nicely decorated, our waiter was excellent and more then willing to mix things up on the menu to our liking. Really good food in good portion sizes. The cheesecake was amazing! I’ve never been served straight cheesecake and it excellent being made in the restaurant. The flavour was not obscured by the crust or topping.
Will definitely be returning.
