Dianne’s fish and chips is one of the restaurants we visit frequently. They have the best calamari we have ever eaten - simply breaded but always crispy, with pickled peppers and an accompanying aioli.
One of the reasons that led us to seek out this restaurant is that it one of the few in our area that can boast a sustainable fish supply (“ocean wise” standard, which is regarded quite highly) and they locally source their beef.
We have tried the fish tacos a couple times and while the toppings were great and the fish delicate, we thought the corn tortillas tasted a bit undercooked. They aren’t made in-house, according to a waitress.
The service has always been great, although the first time we were there we didn’t receive the delicious complimentary buns they give you once you’ve ordered. The restaurant has always been clean as well.
You do have to traverse a set of stairs to use the washrooms, which prohibits wheelchair access to those facilities.
In terms of value, we thought that the calamari dish was a great deal considering how much food was on the plate. As for the fish tacos, they were quite small for the price. The Dianne’s hamburger was good, but paying $18 for a burger and quite ordinary fries may put some people off. We generally just go for the calamari now.
Awesome seafood - The fish cakes were awesome. The fish, beef and pork tacos were wow. The grilled yellowfin tuna simply fabulous and to top it all off must have desert hello Dolly.
I’ve read in many places about their infamous seafood poutine and decided to try it for myself!
Loved the combination and a very large portion!
The jumbo shrimp with fries were also delicious!
But what I loved the most was the amazinggg customer service, so kind and always checking up on us 😋
I recommend this place for all the pescatarians and seafood lovers out there! 💃🏽
