Review Thai House Cuisine - Kingston

Jessica O
Have ordered take-out from here a few times now and have enjoyed the food every time. Have had some issues with orders being ready on time but it wouldn’t stop me from ordering from them again as the food is generally a win. Get the Thai basil rice!

On our 15th wedding anniversary we ordered a romantic dinner and what an amazing surprise to see these little heart shaped carrots! A delicious pad thai made by someone who clearly cares, would absolutely recommend.

Had the lunch special of Pad Thai. It came with a small salad, spring roll and a small soup. Great value and portion size for the price. Was scrumptious to boot. Also added sticky rice and chicken satay was very good. It was -30 with the windchill yesterday and they wrapped the spring roll in aluminum foil and the chicken satays so they would stay warm. Very impressed. First time ordering here and will be back in the future.

I just ordered today 23/09/2021 for the first time, basil spicy chicken noodles and here you go how was the chicken look like , obviously expired and rotten. This is also my first review in google and I felt people need to see this just in case .. be carful

Delicious. Our favourite takeout spot in Kingston. We’ve tried many items on the menu. Favourite ones are the cashew nut shrimp stir fry, basil spicy noodles, pad Thai, and basil duck.

Thai House is really good and authentic Thai food. Highly recommend the spring rolls, they’re the best I’ve had! Also can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, really liked their pad thai and red curry.

Food was ok, my seafood red curry had a bit freezer burn taste, the drunken noodles were good. The low review stems from the fact that my wife and I are coming back from Montreal, she asked to use the bathroom which she saw in front of her upon paying and was refused. Food is ok, customer service terrible! Will not return.

Great food full of healthy ingredients. Your mouth will thank you for all the delicious flavours! Served in a cozy yet elegant decor. You won't be disappointed.

Best Pad Thai I've had in Kingston. Large portions and tons of flavour. Really cool location too. Definitely recommend. The staff were also very nice.

The thai iced tea and the duck red curry is great here! The atmosphere is nice and the service was great too! I will definitely be coming back!

I ordered the pineapple chicken curry and it was quite flavourless, ...also ordered the red curry shrimp and it was also lacking flavour. Very bland experience. However, the delivery was quick and the driver was really pleasant.

For the indecisive, the appetizer assortment ($14.99) offers a great variety: tons of crowd pleasing fried items including lightly dusted calamari, tasty crispy vegetable spring rolls stuffed with thinly sliced vegetables and glass noodles, and peppery shrimp wrapped in spring roll sheets; simple egg, tofu and vegetable fresh rolls wrapped in rice paper; slightly dry chicken satay skewers; and a refreshing cucumber salad. A nice starter, snack or nibbling plate.

There’s something magical about Thai soups – a medley of ingredients simmered together for long periods creating a cacophony of flavours. The coconut chicken soup ($6.99) was the best part of the meal: a surprisingly light broth, despite the coconut milk, balanced with a slight acidity from lemon and kaffir lime leaves. Don’t be fooled, the milky liquid still has a spicy kick, with the galangal (an ingredient similar to ginger root), creating a throat cleansing sting. Do yourself a favour and save some of the broth to spoon over steamed rice.

Another great addition to rice is the beef tamarind curry ($13.99). Generally, I prefer sticking to chicken, shrimp or vegetable based curries as I find flank steak slices often become tough and tasteless. Thai House Cuisine uses brisket instead, which undoubtedly takes longer to cook, but produces a tender meat that actually soaks up flavours.

Despite the menu displaying three chilies beside the spicy chicken ($12.99), the stir fry wasn’t too hard to handle given the sauce incorporates a sweetness to mellow the heat. We were warned that the restaurant’s dishes have been toned down for the Canadian palette, so if you’re like me and would want this spicier, don’t be afraid to ask for the

Affordable price for a tasty Thaï food. The spicyness of the food was just right. Service was nice and quick. The place was clean and quiet.

The second time visiting this restaurant. This time I went with my host family. The food were good as usual. My host dad ordered a cup of coffee and they told us they don't have milk... Lmao. I just found it funny that a restaurant don't have milk for coffee. Maybe is something common and I don't know haa. But so far a good review!!! The foods were awesome.

After spending 6 months trying various other Thai restaurants at the advice of fellow students, I discovered this gem around the corner from my downtown apartment. One visit and I was hooked! It took every ounce of will-power I had not to order take-out from Thai House Cuisine every night. The spring rolls are mouth-watering, the Pad Thai is flavourful (and includes shrimp, chicken AND tofu - which is becoming a rarity, as many places make you choose 1 protein) and the Red Chicken Curry with tender bamboo shoots and bright Thai basil (my usual) is simply to die for. Rich, full flavors, aromatic sauces and the rice is perfect every time.

Eating in, the service is friendly, quick and attentive. I am sad to be leaving Kingston after 3 years of school, but I know Thai House will be at the top of my list whenever I return to visit!

Loved it.. Got take out. Wasn't cheap but the drunkards noodles with chicken and the spicy beef curry were delicious. I would definitely take out again!

I took my son here this evening as our regular thai restaurant was closed for a wedding. It started out well with a nice shrimp appetizer .. shrimp in a pastry and fried with a tasty thai sauce. We ordered red curry chicken for myself and regular pad thai for my son. when we finished our appetizer and waited for our mains they did not clear our table, but when they brought our mains they said they would be back for our dirty plates which they left on our table the whole time. My red curry was warm temperature wise and I couldn't get my waitresses attention to ask her about my food being Luke warm. Not only was it cool but bland at best with very little heat (spice).

My son's pad thai tasted like they warmed up some noodles with a peanut butter sauce, pad thai is supposed to be a bit spicy, sour, sweet and savoury. It was none of the above and he wouldn't eat it nor would I had I been offered this.

Overall compared to most other thai restaurants in kingston, this failed miserably. Service was poor, quality of food was average at best. Ambiance was quite nice however. Overall 5 out of 10 at best... and that in my opinion is generous.

Unforgettable Experience!. I will never forget my experience at Thai House. The service was poor and the food mediocre. I'm sorry we ever landed there, but the reviews on this site were favourable, so we decided to give it a try. After all, it's predecessor, a health food restaurant which was linked to some religious organization, was fantastic.
It was the July first holiday so I guess we felt lucky to have found a place open. The restaurant was reasonably busy when we arrived, although it seemed like most everyone else finished their dining experience soon after we got seated. I'm including this detail only because it may be at least part of the reason why the wait staff were largely absent for us. I'm thinking they were simply tired after the dinner hour rush, and they needed some respite time in the back room. Perhaps they felt a sense of urgency to get to their iphones.
We needed attention after only a few minutes into our meal (as is typical, in my experience - that's when the problems arise). Because no one was around to tend to us, and we waited long enough, my partner walked around the restaurant seeking assistance. She found none, so she knocked on the kitchen door. I could here her calling "Hello?". By the third time she was almost yelling. Someone came and tended to her request.
The dishes we had were mediocre at best. Definitely not the delicacy and distinguishable flavours that one expects in a good Thai restaurant.
Our service experience brings up the question of the gratuity, what it's worth, and how much to pay. I know lots of folks insist on 20%. I usually top out at 15%. For my cheque at Thai Cuisine, I begrudgingly tipped 10%. There were several other escapades that occurred that evening that made the whole experience laughable. Which brings me back to the point about tipping. How is it that restaurant owners can hire wait staff, usually young people who may have little to no experience, pay them a minimum wage and do virtually no training, and expect us to top up their wage to say, $30 to $40 an hour for their work. How is that fair? It just doesn't make any sense to me. I suppose I am grateful to Thai Cuisine in Kingston, Ontario for bringing this dilemma to light for me. I hope you will find a such place for an equally unforgettable experience, just don't make it the same place.
Sour-Puss.

Totally enjoyed!. Ate here once, a bit pricey because there's no take-out menu but the pineapple chicken curry was delicious!! Definitely at the top of my list for take-out

We thoroughly enjoyed Thai House Cuisine. We visited the Kingston location in July with our vegetarian granddaughter. The food was excellent, and Bridget said the Vegetarian Pad Thai was absolutely delicious. Our meals were delicious as well. Service was good, and we were so happy with the experience that the 3 of us visited the Campbellville location for another great eating experience. The flavours in both restaurant were lovely and complex without being greasy, over-spicy or in any other way disappointing. We have told many friends to be sure to go there if they ever find themselves in Kingston.

Be VERY careful if you have allergies. Be very very careful if you allergies because they will not be careful. Sooner or later someone will be incredibly seriously ill here, or worse yet die, because you can tell them about your allergy and they will say , "Yes Yes, - not a problem." And then they will go ahead and serve you whatever it is you are allergic to without batting an eye.

Do Not Eat Here. Chicken fried rice was an inedible pile of mush. Disgusting. Mangoes in mango salad were not even close to ripe, also inedible.

Unacceptable, do not eat here.

BEST THAI IN KINGSTON. Fantastic food. Lemongrass soup, green curry beef & pad thai are my recommendations. Quality is consistent (I order once a week from here).

Ok, but definitely not the best Thai food in Kingston!. This place is standard. I am not sure why it has such a high rating. Green curry is good and I like how they ask for the level of spice you want (1-5) so that is a plus. Also the lunch special is a good option I suppose. Had some of the other curried meat dishes and one of the duck dishes and I was not impressed. Lack of flavour and watery consistencies made them ok to sub-par for the price you pay. The spring rolls taste like they are out of a box. Ordered the Rad Nar noodle dish with extra veggies - total came to 15$ and it was not impressive at all...it was like the chef was hung over when making it and gave up halfway through the cooking process. Some people may be sucked in by the nice decor but that doesn't come close to making up for a lack of quality in the food especially when plates are on average 4-5$ more. Food is the most important thing believe it or not. I would rather eat or grab take out in a place that is run down but serves amazing food consistently like Golden Viet Thai, Wok In or Cambodian Village. Little Saigon (Vietnemease) offers better food for 8$ flat. This is not the best Thai food in Kingston...not even close...so do not believe the hype!

The hot and sour soup and the yellow curry are fantastic. I will try to get back to this establishment asa often as I can when I visit Kingston.

Best Food in Kingston. My family and I don't get out often enough to eat at the Thai House. We all love the food its varied in offerings but consistent in flavour. Once you have dined there once it will become a favourite. The staff are wonderful the atmosphere is perfect the food divine. When we have guests we are always happy to bring them to the Thai House.

We love this place! Tried a few in town and this was by far the most delicious. Meals are reasonably priced and full of flavour. Try their lunch, it's a great value and with quick service you won't be waiting long!

Overall a Thumbs down. My husband and I decided to try Thai house after reading a few reviews. We were very disappointed and will not return. Service was good, restaurant seemed clean, however the food was very bland. We ordered 3 different dishes and they all tasted the same and contained a lot of the same ingredients. We could have made something better at home.

Good food, crummy service. I've been to Thai House twice now and both times I really enjoyed the food and found the prices to be very reasonable. Their red curry vegetable dish was delicious and the $9.99 lunch special is a great deal. I was very ready for this to be my new favourite Thai place in Kingston.
The service, however, leaves something to be desired. On both occasions (once at dinner with a fellow student and once at lunch with my mom) we waited a long time to have our orders taken. We saw other tables getting water but we weren't asked for drink orders until we flagged down the waitress. At lunch, I had to go to the cash register to find a server after waiting 15 minutes at our table. The food came out quickly but no one ever checked up on us and we had to go find someone again when it came time to get our bills. The restaurant wasn't full on either occasion.
I'll probably give it a third try but if the service is sub-par again, it will be my last visit.

Yummy experience!. Finally a place that serves real Thai food and not sloppy, bland student variations.
Still thinking about the sweet/tangy mango salad and spicy red curry served in a bowl with thick coconut milk and veggies...yum! Husband loved his veggie Pad Thai.
Great food presentation, good service, the right price and memorable dishes.
As a vegetarian there was a lot to choose from and you can substitute with tofu and say no to the egg.
We'll be back soon!

Really Enjoyed. This place actually delivered great taste as the reviews suggested. Had the cashew nut chicken and pad thai. They were both excellent and I would recommend this place to anyone. You won't be disappointed.

Best Thai place. I love this place! They are the ONLY Asian restaurant I've gone to that pays attention to presentation! The spring rolls and soup for appetizers are beautifully presented, with vibrant colours and a clean approach. My friends and I got the lunch special, and it was wonderful and nicely portioned and cheap too. So great!

Best Thai Food in Kingston!. Awesome food, fair prices, generous portion sizes, great staff and the restaurant it’s self is very modern and open. This is by far my favorite Thai place in Kingston! I highly recommend it!
DJ Gap
My new favorite restaurant. First time here since it opened a few months ago, and being one that enjoys authentic asian (particularly Thai) dining, this place quickly moved to the top of my list. The decor was wonderful, the food was great, friendly (and authentic) Thai staff, good-sized portions and reasonably priced. I have been a regular visitor to Thailand for many years and can vouch for the authenticity of this nice new addition to Kingston's eateries. Will definitely be back there again.

Fantastic little restaurant! My boyfriend and I are avid Thai food lovers and we were quite pleased with this restaurant. We had the green curry with seafood and red curry with chicken and pineapple and the assorted appetizer dish. Very nice curries with the appropriate amount of spicyness. Simple and elegant decor, pleasant staff, good service. Above all, extremely well priced!! Average cost per dish is 12$ for a main. Highly recommend this place.

Relatively empty. Incredibly non-spicy despite chili pepper beside dishes we ordered. They also got one of our 3 menu items wrong. It was okay but far from memorable thaifood I've eaten.

Delicious.. just like in Toronto!. I've been a loyal customer of the Thai House in Toronto on Queen St. E in the beaches, and was thrilled to hear that they opened another location where I live in Kingston.

I couldn't have been happier when I walked in and it smelled exactly the way it does in Toronto. I ordered the Cashew Nut Chicken and spring rolls, and it was everything I asked for and more. The flavours of the food is what keeps me going back and I can't wait to return for another curry dish from the great thai restaurant.

Finally, good Thai food in Kingston!. We went to the Thai House Cuisine last week for our anniversary, and were so glad we did. The food was attractively presented, delicious, and with generous servings. The service was excellent. You could tell that the chef knew what he or she was doing with the all the ingredients-- the flavours chased each other around one's mouth. The mango salad especially was sooooo fresh and creatively presented--wow!

My only negative observation is that they don't have much in the way of decor, so you have nothing to look at except blank walls. Even travel posters would be nice to give some atmosphere. Their paint job is very pleasant, they just need to add a few touches to make it more Thai-looking.

We're glad this new restaurant has come to town and definitely will go back.
Andrew
Authentic!. I went to the Thai House Cuisine yesterday for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by 'authentic thai cuisine'! Note: I've been to Thailand and taken thai cooking classes and seldom find thai restaurants in North America that I would consider true to thai cooking and can be considered authentic...

The service was very pleasant and the food fresh with the subtle tastes that I love in thai cuisine. The soup (a coconut milk base) was excellent and the sticky rice and sweet mango dessert outstanding.

I will certainly be going back!

Yummy!. Went for lunch at the Thai House Cuisine last week. I was impressed from the moment I walked in. Instead of craming as many tables in as possible, they are spaced out nicely.
Beautiful decor, not over done! or undone.
Had the special for $9.99. It came with a spring roll and a small soup of the day. Both were very good. The soup especially. I couldn't find a decent hot & sour soup anywhere in Kingston. I'm used to the Szechuan way it's made and this was very close and a little sweet, nice.
I ordered the red curry vegatable dish and it was very good and presented in a very nice way. Will go back for sure/1

Finally! Authentic THAI food in Kingston. Amazing experience...service, ambiance and delicious food. The owners are Thai, a marked difference from all the Cambodian restaurants in town.
