Visiting Kingston from Wales, UK, it was great to find this place as I hadn't eaten German cuisine since living in Germany for 3 years, 1978-1981. The food was great, just as I remembered it. And the bonus was the Warsteiner bier, or Wobbly as it was nicknamed during my time in Germany.
My partner had never tried German food before either and she totally loved it.
The bier garden is worth sitting in too.
Altogether a great place to eat which I would thoroughly recommend.
I absolutely love this place. Great food service and prices.
Highly recommend it if you like European food
Really glad I had my first schnitzel experience here! Loved the mixed salad platter to start; three different veggies with three different dressings. They do their schnitzels really well, especially the saucy ones, but personally I liked their wursts even more! For $4 extra you can add one to any entree. Other than the ones I've had in Hanover, DE, these were the best wursts I've eaten in my life thus far ;3 Mmm wish I could go back for them now! The only dish that was mediocre was the Chicken Paprikasch. The meat was dry and overcooked. Other than that, great place, I recommend it ; ) P.S. They have a beer garden in the back!
We went for dinner the other day and the service was super slow. We entered the restaurant and waited for awhile to get seated...but the thing is, the waitresses were talking to each other and even though one of them noticed us, they continued talking rather than seating us. So I wasn't impressed by that. The food took quite long to come out...they did apologize for the delay but that was like 40 minutes after we had ordered...but the food was good. So overall, bad service but good food.
Excellent, quality food. The portions are large, as is the price. Because I love German food so much, I'm not bothered by the prices, but many may be.
Nice little spot!. Kingston is very fortunate to have a place like this for German and Austrian food, when you need a break from all the pad thai, sushi, and burger places downtown. The food is tasty and there is a good beer selection. The patio in the back is a treat in the summer.
Excellent food! Very consistent! Huge beers! Nice beer garden hidden out back. Try the brauer shnitzel, yum.
Well worth a visit. The platter for two serves three, and is great. Servers are excellent. Alles schmekt gut.
Pretty Good Schnitzel. Came here craving schnitzel and found that the schnitzel here was relatively good. It was crispy and relatively moist however the only gripe I had was the price that they were charging. It was over $20 for a simple order of veal schnitzel which I felt for Kingston was a little overpriced.
That being said this is a small little restaurant tucked on the right hand side of Princess as you are walking down and it is relatively easy to miss!
Yet they have perfected the sausage and should be fully credited for that contribution to our breakfasts. Amadeus takes the sausage further and worships it, with tangy Dijon mustard, crusted potatoes and potent sauerkraut. But the sausage carries its own, with a juicy, flavourful splendor that absolves their relegation to the menial. It is a surprising tr
Patio, courtyard, staff & drinks wonderful! This was on a bride & groom’s recommendation list for attendees of their wedding. Madison & Matt did not disappoint. The most delicious sandwich, phenomenal espresso and refreshing mojito with the cutest little clothes peg holding the mint onto my glass. The bar is sexy!!! Sophie the bartender was my fave! Ten stars!
Service was amazing, very accommodating when I needed to delay my reservation three times. Waitress was patient and helpful.
Food was great, some of the best food I've had in Kingston.
New york strip was cooked perfectly (mid rare), mussels and garlic shrimp were fresh.
The eggplant dip is killer, amazing smoky flavor. Falafel burger is as good as it gets for a falafel, excellent texture and flavour. Awesome take on the poutine with brie as well as a cognac infused jus. Excellent service to top it all off. Big thumbs up!
Nice pub. The overall waiters were so so. Except Ali our waitress who was amazing really. She really saved the night. The food is good as are drinks. A bit overpriced though. Nice decor and patio in the back.
Great selection of beers on tap, local choices. Tasty bites on the side for apéro time. Warm welcome and deco. Perfect for the end of the afternoon after hiking.
MOUTHWATERING FOOD, really delicious cocktails and amazing staff! Thank you so much to Robyn for her incredible and helpful service.
Loved the vegetarian options (the fries and garlic aioli were to die for) and couldn’t get over the chill vibe of the entire restaurant. Amazing location right downtown! Will absolutely be coming back again!
It’s been 2 days since I visited Black Dog Tavern and I still can’t get over the gluten free fried chicken! So much flavor! The service was also excellent. I can’t wait to go back.
