Tags was a nice convenience grocery store and delicatessen located close to the Jasper Downtown Hostel where we stayed. We could buy a lot of ready to eat food packets and also a variety of green teas and coffee. Bread, cookies and chocolates were also readily available. We bought some dips and cracker biscuits which we had as a light snack in the hostel kitchen. Ice-creams and soft drinks were also available. Frozen meats were also available.
This is my third time in Jasper and my third time to this shop. We simply cant go past the fresh baked muffins every morning in particular the orange and cranberry. They are still warm of a morning and have a crunchy top and are under $2. You won't find them there if we've been as we buy them all.
We were looking for a sandwich shop for a picnic, and stumbled across Tags. It's a convenience store with tons of different kinds of hot coffee, chocolate and candy bars, snacks, and fresh made subs to order. I had a roast beef sub that was very good and a fraction of the price of eating at a local restaurant (about $6 CND). The clerk made it right in front of me, with fresh lettuce and toppings, unlike the cold prepackaged sandwiches I saw in a refrigerator case at the bakery next door.
The staff is friendly and their bakery is really delicious. It's fresh made too! I recommend trying out the big buns and cheese sausage sticks.
