Review L & W Restaurant - Jasper

A hidden gem - best sandwiches in the town of Jasper. Glenn will ask you about your whole life story while assembling your perfect sandwich. Stop here to fill your picnic basket before a hike.

Absolutely awesome sandwich! I was walking down the street and stopped to look at their sandwich board ad and wondered if this is what I wanted for lunch. Another person said, "I just had one of those, and it's the best sandwich." Okay, good enough for me. I wasn't disappointed. Really good stuff, and friendly staff!

You'd think in the dozens of times we've been to Jasper we would have found this place before! They were so kind and made our little picky eaters Swiss cheese, cucumber, and butter sandwiches (which they just loved!) The buns have a lovely crunchy crust and so soft on the inside. Our sandwiches were delicious and hit the spot perfectly! Thank you!

When life offers you a delicious surprise, you cherish it! Wendy and Glen's warm and caring welcome makes you feel right at home. We had the delicious beef stew and some sweets. Wish we would stay longer in Jasper to come back! Such great food served by the sweetest people!

WOW what an absolutely beautiful place in every single aspect!! I walked in today and asked the man to surprise me with a sandwich, and he delivered over and above my expectation!! The perfect balance of light and fluffy bread with a perfect crust, to fresh ingredients including chicken, arugula, cheese and cranberries! All for $14 which is an absolute steal for downtown jasper! The entire family welcomed me with genuine conversation. Will definitely be returning to this beautiful family run deli!!

Highly recommend this business. I have celiac disease and had the most amazing wrap since being diagnosed over 5 years ago. The staff were super attentive to cleaning and freshening their gloves before preparing the gluten free wrap and made amazing suggestions! In fact, I went back again the next day for the same wrap. I will definitely be visiting again on my next trip to Jasper! Sorry, no pictures, it disappeared too quickly.

Absolutely fantastic sandwiches! The staff there is very very friendly and treats you like friends! Would certainly recommend for everyone needing a delicious lunch during their hikes and visits to the surrounding area!

I cannot say enough about this little gem. I stopped in to pick up lunch on a trip to Jasper. My husband was feeling under the weather so I wanted to pick up something quickly so I could get back to him. The owner/operators were incredibly kind, suggesting hikes I could safely do on my own while making me one of the BEST sandwiches I have ever had (in-house roasted chicken on an in-house baked whole wheat bun with a vast array of delicious topping choices). When I was paying, they insisted on throwing in homemade chicken noodle soup on the house for my hubby. This kind of service and level of care and attention are uncommon at best these days. We will most certainly visit Patricia Street Deli every time we visit Jasper in the future and you should too!

As a frequent visitor to Jasper, I have dined at 7+ restaurants over the past 4 months. Although our pizza was good, I was VERY uncomfortable with this restaurants response to Covid compared to the other restaurants I’ve dined at in Jasper. Tables are too close together, booths have not been changed and guests are inches away from each other. I asked a staff member about this as I left and received a very unintelligible and vague response. If you want to remain COVID-19 safe, do not dine here!

Ordered take out for my hubbies bday tonight, got home and we were charged for 2 orders of domaldes but never received. Have been phoning the restaurant for 1.5 hours and keep getting hung up on! Are you kidding me?!? Not impressed!!!!

Went with my partner to eat here after a day of skiing as I have eaten at the Hinton location several times and have never been disappointed. The prices were high and she ordered the spaghetti ($19) and I ordered the donair ($19). The server was not very attentive and after bringing the food my partner wasn't impressed by the spaghetti but my donair came with a meat that was off. The server didn't return to the table until after my partner had finished her entire meal. He noticed I had not touched the donair and asked what was wrong. After I told him that it was not good at all (I literally took less than a bite) he returned with the bill and proceeded to charge me for the meal. I asked him why he would charge me for something I didn't even eat and he removed it. Will NOT be returning.

We came here because it was the only place open (holiday hours) but it was actually really good. The interior decor is kind of a beautiful pigsty of plants and shiny things, like the inside of your favorite psychotic semi-hoarder relative's home during the holiday season. It surprised and intrigued me and I kind of felt like I was eating on a mini-golf course.

The menu is gigantic, I'm not sure it's possible that everything they offer to make can be expertly made by one kitchen, but the items we picked out were from the "famous greek" section and were indeed pretty good. We both ordered different kinds of souvlaki (chicken and lamb). They used a tzatziki sauce that did not taste like it was made from yogurt, or it was made from the fattiest, creamiest yogurt imaginable - I thought it was great. Greek salad had an excellent dressing, pita was pita, souvlaki itself was very good and nicely spiced, and really the only boring part of the meal was the rice, which tasted really bland next to the other components of the meal. It could have used a bunch of lemon (or something, anything really) to bring it to life. Portion size was very generous, the plate was overflowing with food, and the prices on the menu aren't really expensive either - or at least no more expensive than you'd expect from a family restaurant like this outside of a vacation hotbed.

Full marks on value, food was surprisingly good in some aspects but meh in others, menu will satisfy any family since they serve every popular form of pizza/pasta/greek under the sun, service was ok, atmosphere was a little odd but definitely playful and fun. Less fancy, but a decent choice for a family or any group of people that can't agree on a single cuisine, or if you're just looking for somewhere that seems a little more homely and down-to-earth in Jasper.

Fast and good customer service. The food was really tasty! I tried the fettuccine Alfredo and really enjoyed it. The inside of the restaurant is neat looking, has a different atmosphere. Decent selection of drinks as well.

We recalled eating at this restaurant several years ago so decided to stop when we were in Jasper last week. We definitely were impressed The service was excellent and we enjoyed visiting with the young Norwegian waitress. The menu selection is varied and the food was great! We would strongly recommend anyone visiting Jasper to give it a try. We know you won't be disappointed.

The place was disgusting and unfriendly. The donair was a pre packaged donair meat they nuked. Don't go here. Unless you like frozen vegetables and fake plants then you will love it.

Chanced upon this restaurant one really cold evening in Jasper.. Had a really pleasant time with family and friends...love the ambience, it's very cozy.. enjoyed a dim lit candlelight dinner.. ordered n vegetable tomato pasta soup, teriyaki vegetables with rice, vegetable lasagna and baklava and chocolate moose cake for dessert.
The soup was super delicious, just the way I like it.. the teriyaki veggies with rice was alright, it was very subtly flavored and light.. The lasagna was yummilicious, cheesy and rich..
Last but not the least, totally enjoyed my baklava experience. Always wanted to try it, and I did for the first time at this place. I must say, I wasn't disappointed..
A great place for a great meal..

Love this place, family owned, nice clean place, super friendly, great food, real good prices feeding a family will not bankrupt you, we visit Jasper 6-7 times a year and this is the only place we eat now, ohh and the bakery

Food quality very poor - they obviously cut corners and certainly not worth the price. Service was indifferent and staff absent once meal served. No effort made to discuss or make amends when we advised the meal was disappointing ( and obviously not eaten as chicken was pink). Many better restaurants in Jasper.

Warmed up leftovers. Salmon with rice and potatoes tasted old, just like a warmed up left over food would taste. Rice was dried up, potatoes was not fully cooked. Pizza was probably the worst pizza I have ever tried, plus my slice had something really hard in it as a result I have a broken molar. Mentioned it to the owner, and did not even get an apology, just the receipt. Overpriced food that we could not even eat.

Stop here for lunch. Jasper is very quiet this time of year. We were only ones in resturant. Ordered pizza. Was very good

Fish and Chips. Nice fish and chips. Batter was not too thick, great fries. Veggies included carrots, peas, cabbage and beans. I've always enjoyed eating here.

I was reading other reviews, started to worry.
My family ordered breakfast and are presently surprised. Food portions good and tasty. All of them are happy with their meals.
Prices are average with Jasper.

In decline. Beef on Beef and Onion pizza appeared to be old, cheap, dry commercial grade hamburger patties. Liked the cheese and crust but the nasty burger was enough to put me off. Pita in appetizers was nice.

I thought at one time that L&W in Hinton was associated with this L&W but I don't see how now.

This spot is great, a perfect example of why you can't trust all reviews. The location is ideal (right on the corner), the outdoor patio is huge, and the food is decent. Yes, the owners seem a little grumpy, but our waitress was to the point. Total bill with tip for 2 appetizers & 2 entres was $60.00. Free parking out back!

Terrible food! My husband a.... Terrible food!
My husband and I decided to give this place a try one afternoon for lunch. We both ordered the chicken club and when we received our food you could smell that the chicken was spoiled. I have no idea how anybody could have not noticed the horrible stench coming from our sandwiches. I would not recommend this place to anyone. They seem very cheap and the quality of their good really reflects this.
Tony
Food was ok, but waitress serving table was very unwelcoming. Also, an old small lady (seemed like the manager) walking around being very rude to a few customers. Definitely would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Overall a pleasant dining experience.. We have been visiting L&W for many years. But, after reading the reviews in Urbanspoon on the restaurant I must admit to being a bit leery about going back. However, go back we did. Among the specials of the day were the lasagna and the Greek cabbage rolls. We tried both and were not disappointed. A tasty beef barley soup and fresh rolls preceded the main courses. The cabbage rolls came with a Greek salad and lemon potatoes. It was all very tasty. The lasagna was also good with a lots of cheese and a flavourful tomato sauce.
The service was also very good and the soup server was very friendly, enquiring how our day in Jasper had been and wishing us a pleasant remainder of our time in the town. Our main server replenished our water glasses several times and was also friendly.
Over all, the dining experience at L&W was quite pleasant. We will go back again.

....Disappointing. We dined at this restaurant tonight. I ordered the Donair. It was absolutely awful. It both tasted and smelled "off". I took two bites, leaving the rest. Service was efficient - but not very friendly and felt very rushed. Definitely wouldn't return.

Old. Very old getting gross

Service slow. Had to ask for drinks twice. Entree arrived before appetizers. Some entrees cold. Salad brown and had chunks of the core in it. Asked to speak with Manager or owner but waitress advises owner would not speak to us. Spoke to her as she passed by about our experience. She yelled at us in english and greek and claimed she had never had anyone complain before. Do not eat here!.
DougS
Slow service and greasy food. The greek salad is dripping in oil. The menu is focused on donairs, burgers and pizza.

WARNING. No free refills on pop. Pop glasses are 1/2 to 1/3 the size of what you would get elsewhere. very cheep attitude after spending a lot of money on foor

Do not eat here. Ended up here just on a whim while staying in Jasper. Cute location, lots of plants. Staff seemed a bit iffy at first but thought it would be ok. Tables close together, whole space crowded but we thought "no worries." Starters were actually very good: the dry ribs were excellent and the tzatiki dip & pita bread was good too, though a smallish portion. The longer we stayed the more we noticed our server was kinda washed out and overworked.. no water refills, no offers for more rounds of drinks, etc. Our main courses were terrible. My partner's roast chicken was so dry it was shocking and my moussaka (normally my favourite dish) was the blandest, most water-logged version of the dish I had ever tasted. There was no sour cream on or near my partner's baked potato... we had to ask for it and it came later... and the whole main course was just plain bad. You can do much better than eating here, though the exterior is very beguiling and the live trees and such inside make it look "fun". To be avoided.

Awful place led to table by the most sour faced lady who was not welcoming. Nail sticking out of bamboo furniture ripped my trousers and she started to call a new pair of trousers "old pants". She was not even apologetic expected my wife and I to order and eat after this. Artificial trees. Have no idea what food was like after this welcome!!!!

Great food and service. Nice ambiance and the food's great! I ordered a baby back ribs, one of the must try dishes. Definitely going to eat there again when I come back to Jasper!

Best Calamari. Yum, the best! Always have to make a stop when passing through Jasper. Can't find quality like that anywhere I live!

It was great. After a long hike up Whistler my gf and I sat on the patio and had a great greek salad and L&W Lg special pizza. GreT patio and great service with a smile.

So many other better choices .... I would not ever eat here again or would I reccommend anyone to anyone!
Service is slow (and shoddy at best), food is not much to write home about, and they just don't care if you like it or not... just pay your bill and move on. The owner has a crappy attitude, treats customers like she would anyone she dislikes or disrespects. Personally when I dine out and spend good money on a meal I at least want to be treated like the owner was happy I stopped in, not like I was an univited guest!
