A great surprise when driving home from Jasper. Looking for a sandwich shop and this place was just what we were looking for. Fresh ingredients, homemade bread and a cute coffee shop atmosphere. We will definitely be stopping in again when driving through.
Sneaky little cafe inside a housewares giftshop. A bit expensive for soup and sandwiches but with daily specials and fresh baked bread, its worth a gander.
This was a great find! Fast Wifi! We are on the road and homeschooling our kids and always looking for a local business to support.
The cafe has lots of space with many tables, local artist work for sale and other confectioneries.
Staff were all super friendly and the coffee and food tasted great - their cinnamon bonus were sooooo delicious! Almost took the rest to go ;0)
Cafe and facilities were very clean and well managed. They were quick to fill up the soap dispenser when I advised it was empty.
Service was a bit slow but it was busy and they were doing the best we could.
Love this coffee shop! We've been here quite a few times and have never been disappointed. They put a great effort into everything they do! For example I ordered a breakfast bagel with bacon. Most places offer a slice of bacon cut into 3 pieces. Not here, they piled it on but not too much. Prices are reasonable given the quality. This place is a staple for us. We also like the art and gifts on offer here.
The scrambled eggs were tasty and very good value. The vegetarian quiche was excellent and the service was excellent. Chilled atmosphere.
Glad we found this excellent cafe away from the touristy places of Jasper. Definitely recommend!
Love The Old Grind! The food tastes like homemade food when you’re away from home! I particularly like the baked goods. My favourite is the raspberry white chocolate scones. I read in a previous review that the scones looked like they had mould on them…lol…that’s just a sign of the real raspberries they use! They are freshly baked and delicious! I also love their soups! I’ll be sure to stop into The Old Grind when I’m in Hinton again!
We come to Hinton a few times a year and I have wanted to check out the Old Grind for some time. They did not disappoint. Everything is made to order, including their egg bites!! I had the bacon onion egg bites and an iced chai tea latte, both were amazing. The iced tea latte was hands down the BEST latte that I have ever had. There was a bit of a wait for the food but that is to be expected when they are busy (because they are excellent) and when everything is made in house!! Oh and the customer service was stellar as well, everyone truely looked like they enjoy their jobs and all are super kind to the customers.
This place made my day. The ambiance, the energy, the people, the drinks and the food all are a 10/10!!!!

This place is AMAZING! Their coffee is SO good! Best breve I’ve had in a long time, and the raspberry white choc scone beat most I’ve tried from coffee shops(I’ve tried a lot). Not to mention they are very friendly, and fast service. I love stopping at small local places, this here is a gem. 👌
We were kind of sad cause we didn't see any beavers in the trail a few minutes from here. But then we ate here and it was perfect : multiples vegetarian option and the food is really good (quiche and soup specially) ! (It's way better than in Jasper)
