The kind of place you keep coming back , it's about the food , its about the staff , its about the décor it's the patio , its the fireplace and it's about a talented "chef". And if you are a golfer you can spend the day there being wined and dined ....

Had an amazing night at this place. Very friendly and accommodating wait staff, beautiful decor and scenery and the chef Martin came out to say hi and make sure everything was to our satisfaction. The prime rib was delicious and the calamari was the best I've ever had and have tried calamari across Canada and Mexico. We will definitely go again.

My husband and I went to Martin's Kitchen tonight and it was amazing! The scenery, the background music, the ambience and most of all, the food, was top notch. The chef himself came and talked to us at our table, I highly recommend this restaurant..only 6 minutes from the rotary with ample free parking! Did I mention the cheesecake? Omg!

Have had several lunches and dinners at Martin's Restaurant over the past two Golf Seasons, and every meal seems better than the last. Fresh, hot and delicious plates are delivered by cheerful efficient staff. And the wine selection is all tasty. The addition of fresh flowers and herbs on each table, art work and comfortable seating arrangements are added touches that are so appreciated.

My daughter and I ate here recently. The food was excellent. Calamari was the best I've had I a while. Seafood fettuccine was great and the fajitas, according to my daughter were the best thing she's ever tasted! Can't wait to go back now that the patio looks like that!

A nice culinary surprise, definitely one of my most fond food memory visiting Halifax. As someone spoiled by the food scene in our home city Toronto, and culinary experiences from travels I am pleasantly satisfied and glad we found this place. We ordered more food and some drinks that didn’t get to photograph. Photographed was the fish and chips for my daughter. Then that evening’s special which was the Salmon and Lobster on Risotto, amazing. The Lamb is great too. We also ordered the fillet mignon and some cocktails, the coffee one was great but others were standard. The meals served to us that night is at par with food experiences you would get from top spots in Toronto, even Waikiki. The restaurant was nicely decorated and servers were alright. It did feel like there was better service being shown to others that are maybe their patrons or the golf people. Definitely did not try to dress up as it did not seem like that kind of place, and maybe did not look like their typical crowd. Other than that, would consider having their food again.

We were incredibly impressed with the food and service this evening. Such a warm and homey atmosphere with fabulous staff who were so genuine, attentive and personable. The tuna tartare, beef tenderloin with lobster and chocolate cake were flawless and so unique. The fireplace and decor was so cozy we didn’t want to leave. You can immediately tell this is a family owned business who put a lot of love into what they do.

This out of the way restaurant has a lovely and warm atmosphere. We sat on the patio side which had a roaring fire and heaters going to keep everyone comfy. There are blankets and throws if you get a bit of a chill. We ordered the Martin's Drill, which is a 3 course menu up to the chef. The price was $150. We noticed the prices listed on line are less than the actual menu prices when dining in. Our appetizer course consisted of the smoked salmon, calamari and tuna tartar. The smoked salmon was the best of the three by far with its goat cheese centre and caramelized onion topper. The calamari was a bit chewy for me and the tuna tartar was a little fishy for my liking. Second course was a scallop and mushroom risotto with asparagus. The risotto was creamy perfection and the portion size is huge! My only issue was the mussel on the scallop was not removed, but the scallop was cooked to perfection. By the time the dessert course came we were pretty full, but they brought out 3 desserts to share. warm gingerbread with a toffee sauce (delicious) carrot cake and chocolate cake with a chocolate sauce. All were good, but the gingerbread won. Overall a great experience which we recommend making the adventure out. A reservation would be required.

Found this gem of a restaurant for dinner with the family. At first we couldn’t find a reservation online so I decided to call. They were able to accommodate our group on the day and time, that was best for us. I was surprised how busy the parking lot of this place was. The grounds were very beautiful. The inside was welcoming. The food was all A+ …with an exception of two of the dishes we had. The first was the Thai pork tenderloin. It tasted like the meat went sour. Our waitress exchanged it without an issue. The second was the burger, it was a bit dry. The most epic meal of the night was the RACK OF LAMB RISOTTO. The lamb was cooked perfectly. The wild mushroom risotto was amazing! Everybody at the table whom had a little taste wished they had ordered it. The runner up dish was the SEAFOOD LINGUINE. Creamy, garlicky cream sauce with scallops, mussels and shrimps. We finished off our experience with a glass of porto paired with ginger cake. Our waitress, Christine was the best. Service was efficient and quick. Would highly recommend stopping by if you haven’t already made your reservations.

Martin's Kitchen came highly recommended. The Smoked Salmon was a stunner. Great seasoning and smoky flavor! Calamari tasted Great!!! The Roasted Lamb was masterfully executed. The Veal Tangliatelle was plenty flavorful! Fish and Chips were both equally perfectly crisp. Martin's Burger was a great and amazing burger. We are planning our next visit already. The staff was utterly awesome!

We came for lunch on a rainy Friday, and the atmosphere was perfect. Very few guests at that hour (the restaurant opens at 12pm) and, with the weather, we enjoyed a relaxing view of the course as if we had it to ourselves. The food was rich and savoury—we had pasta dishes—and the drinks were refreshingly crisp. The interior had more pzazz than anticipated, but throw pillows in the chairs were a nice touch that made us feel welcome and at home. Overall, excellent, and we are excited for our next visit.

Went to supper last night with friends and was not disappointed. Come on. So. Good! The ambiance, the drinks the food. Just go. The entire meal was incredible. Make reservations, it was packed all night. With good reason. Ordered the elderflower lemonade and had the Scallop Amatriciana with sorbet for dessert . Our food was delivered by Chef Martin personally. To die for. Every one of us ordered something different and every meal was perfect. Go. Wish I snapped some pics to share but was having too good a time! We’ll be back at the end of August for our Anniversary ☺️

I've had family visit twice and they've made special mention of it so I was interested and excited to try it. We were a table of four. I ordered the special which was steak and lobster, tenderloin and poached lobster with a delicious, somewhat spicy sauce. I did not look up the place on Google or anywhere else and had no real expectation. You can probably tell by the other people's pictures better than I can explain it, but the interior, particularly the room we were in has a high vaulted ceiling and it looks like the doors or windows surrounding the enclosure open up when it's seasonal. There's heaters and fireplaces and the view looks spectacular, a place I could see myself hanging out and I can't wait to visit again. Fine dining in a picturesque casual environment. What else could you ask for? I would also add that the dessert baker is part owner and recommend the ginger cake. You won't regret it.

First time I have eaten here at Martin's Kitchen. The ambience is lovely and this was in early afternoon, I have to come back and check it out in the evening. A lovely set up with social distancing practices in place. The food was amazing, very unique and tastefully done calamari. A lovely seafood chowder with a variety of fish in it. The broth had an excellent spice flavor added to it. Did not have dessert, too full. The service was very good, such positive energy from the owner and his son. Not only do I recommend this place, but when my friends and family visit, this will be one of my go to places.

My family and I visited Halifax this summer and ate out quite frequently. We visited Martin's Kitchen twice in our visit because it was just so delicious. There were 4 of us in our group and we all agreed that it was one of the best meals we've ever had. When we arrived the second time, we all said we would try something different except the calamari; we had that both times because it was just so good. I highly recommend it. Every single meal my family and I had we were gushing over and kept saying "oh you have to try a bite of this". Between us all we had the Martin's Trio Platter, Seafood Linguine, Scallop Amatriciana, Duck Prosciutto Tortellini, Lamb Risotto, Filet Mignon, Bouillabaise, and all four desserts. Everything was exceptional. Service was amazing. Both times we called to make a reservation because it was full online and they were able to make room for us. Service was little slow at times but we were also in the middle of the dinner rush. Each server was so personal and treated our young daughter like she was family. It's definitely worth the quick drive out of Halifax to visit. This place will be my #1 recommendation to anyone who visits the area for a great meal. Can't wait to go back!

We had Holly as a server, and she was amazing! It definitely makes an experience better when you have someone so positive, attentive, and with a huge personality. Thank you for making our evening fantastic. The food was amazing, flavourful, and presented with such perfection. I was halfway through and realized I was enjoying my meal so much, that I didn't want it to end lol. That's how good the filet mignon was (I need to learn to make this sauce haha) We've never had less than a wonderful experience, which is why we always return. Thank you all for that you do.

The dining room is beautiful and the menu delicious. Had dinner with my girlfriends last night (party of 7) and everything was fantastic. The special tuna tartare and the prosciutto tortellini, salmon curry linguine, haddock and ESPECIALLY dessert were phenomenal. As usual, we will be back!

The service and food were 10/10. Couple of suggestions are; serve bread with the meal, cloth napkins vs disposable and lastly, when giving containers for leftovers, it should include a piece of parchment paper so the sauce and the amazing flavours aren’t absorbed into the cardboard containers (which are totally recyclable, bravo!) we will definitely be back again. Rate it a 10/10!

While on the road from Peggy's Cove to Halifax, this restaurant caught our eye with its Google review rating of 4.7. I'll tell you this - it should be higher. Everything about Martin's Kitchen is excellent. I would rate this as a MUST stop on your trip through to Peggy's Cove, or Halifax, or on any trip to Nova Scotia!
