Review Wei Xiang Yuan - Hamilton

Amazing veggie congee and glass noodles. Truly authentic.

Only giving one star because I canโ€™t give anything less. Our meals had many large shards of chicken bone in them that we cut ourselves on. Food was not even good enough to finish. Do not recommend this place at all.

In terms of taste and variety of food, this place is handsdown the best Chinese restaurant in town. Everything tastes very authentic and menu includes all the traditional dishes AND some local Chinese dishes I never expected to find in Canada! However, when it comes to pricing and service, there's much room for improvements

The restaurant is small and just a little too tiny. It's a refurbished family home, so that makes sense. The food is decent, about as good as you would expect home-cooked Chinese food to taste. However, this is not where you want to go for quick service. The food is made for you by one person, so it takes quite a bit of time. The English on the menu is also a little shoddy, but you can get by with it if needed. They don't supply real utensils (they have tiny plastic spoons and wooden break-apart chopsticks), but drinks are self-serve (there's an open fridge) and water is free to grab as you please. The restaurant is usually filled with Chinese students from Columbia, so it's usually rowdy. The food portions are pretty decent and you can definitely get full, but it's a tad more than I would be willing to pay.

I saw a cockroach on the counter when I was there to pick-up my order. The taste of the food is OK though.

Ordered take out 3 days ago. I really enjoyed their dumplings. (Pork/beef/Beijing) Loved their Egg Drop Soup. The sweet & sour pork meat was tasty! I really dislike giving a bad review but the white rice and congee didn't taste good. Just being honest! Overall, I had a good experience and will be ordering more from this wonderful restaurant. Thank you for your food!

Ordered the Beijing pork/chive and Beijing beef dumplings + Beijing Noodles. Was not disappointed. The noodles would have been better with more pork, but everything was tasty and made from scratch. If youโ€™re looking for no frills Chinese food, this is the place.
