At first glance it is a neighborhood made to have fun, where the first stop and the last one must, is and will be Shaolin Underground Hamilton.
Safety pin!!! both for an excellent welcome, and for an unforgettable farewell.
I was immediately reminded of the good old days... of last decade, when Absinthe used to host 80s nights in its basement club space.
I see a lot of potential at Shaolin Underground, so, if they are able to find the right promoters and DJs, they can easily attract the 20-somethings that want to listen to vintage music in a classy setting.
Classy, yet informal at the same time, with a salivating menu of Asian-fusion cuisine, and an impressive selection of cocktails.
Xiè xiè, Shaolin Underground, for your presence on James North.
Sincerely yours,
Sean Gratton

This place is amazing! Great service, cute decor and the food was soooooo yummy and nicely presented! A great mix of Asian flavors and Mexican tastes! Would absolutely recommend! Loved every single dish we tried.
A great little Mexican restaurant with a little taste of Asian for spice. Great atmosphere with unique eclectic furnishings and fixtures. Great staff, pleasant and happy to please. Very reasonable prices. 3 adults under $100. The limited menu invites you try their very tasty and unique offerings along with a pairing of beer and wine selections. Definately worth a try. We walked in and were seated immediately but I'm thinking reservations are a good idea. The place fills up quickly.
Amazing underground spot that has an funky vibe blended with Asian flare. The drink and food list is short but packed with punch...everything is on point! The Shaolin Bao is charts!, spicy nuts you truly can't enough of and the bugogi ribs LITERALLY melt! Vittorio you've done an amazing job and I look forward to seeing what magic you end up pumping into the upstairs! Cheers.
My beautiful boyfriend treated us to the best date night ever! The food is sensational! A definite revisit. 😍
Stopped in during Supercrawl for a quick bite. They have a small menu, which I prefer, of shareable plates and tacos.
They have several signature cocktails and craft beers. Service was friendly and they provided a breakdown of menu items that we didn't recognize in Spanish.
We settled on some guacamole and a couple tacos. The guacamole arrived with slices of chili and housemade tortilla chips. It was fresh and flavorful and had a few chunks of avocado. I like that it wasn't completely mashed into a puree, it added some texture while scooping with the chips. The tacos were fresh with generous amounts of filling. The mole had a deep, rich, beefy flavour with lots of heat. The shrimp taco was delicious. The combination of coconut and spices with the shrimp was perfect. Would definitely choose all three menu items again. The mole was quite spicy though, fyi.
I look forward to a return visit to try other menu items and as well as that shrimp taco!
Review is for the upstairs restaurant. Good eats, casual vibe. The bao is my favorite. Also tried the curry very good as well. Prices are reasonable. I like it.
Marina is incredibly cool. The vibe is on point and cocktails are super fun. I love the idea of embracing Central and South American foods all in one place. They make their own tortilla chips soaking and grinding corn for them. Then again, everything is made in house. Their ceviche is crazy great and moles on point. This is such a blast. Do not miss it.
