New to the city, I my favourite method of getting familiar with an area is to do food hunting; So I ended up here yesterday night for dinner, and I think this is the best restaurant I've found so far in Hamilton! The Seafood Gumbo was delicious and well flavoured; my friend had the lamb, juicy, cooked to the perfect doneness; the waiter was friendly and helpful too. Great restaurant over all.

I’ve recently been dragging my friends to a few restaurants on James Street North in Hamilton including Saltlick, Charred, Jack & Lois, and Mulberry Street Café. Every time we wander around, we also discover other restaurants to check out. This time we stopped-in at Acclamation – across the street from Mulberry Street Café. The interiors and exteriors are elegant, neutral, and classy. Deep wooden fixtures and furniture sit in a romantic, cozy space. The staff are friendly, respectful, and patient. We had two gluten-intolerant diners in our party and they were able to find a few items to suit their needs.

We visited Acclamation on a warm Sunday afternoon in June.  The little patio outside was a perfect spot from which to watch the people wandering up and down James Street.
Our waitress, Alex, was very attentive and helpful with our ordering.
Grilled calamari at $11 was beautifully presented quite good on the bed of panzanella salad.
Pimento chicken club was quite tasty.
Fish and chips consisted of two pickerel fillets and some quite good chips for a restaurant.  There were not many chips, however, maybe twelve?  They were stacked like logs to build a tower.
My wife had a couple of glasses of white sauvignon blanc and I had two pints of Beau's Lug Tread.  The only complaint I would make about the whole time at the restaurant was that the pint glasses were not properly filled.  They were short of a pint by a few ounces.  I shall deal with that on the next visit and yes, there will be a next visit.

I had the Fish and Chips and it wasn't your typical fish and chips. The Fish was excellent , served on a lentil salad. Very tasty. My partner had a mushroom , asparagus pizza and Caesar salad and enjoyed both. Our server was very friendly. A delicious cheese cake was given to us , on the house...a nice touch. We were told that they have a new chef and if the Acclamation's Bar & Grill continues to provide tasty menu items and excellent service , it will become a popular Hamilton spot.

My husband and I went for dinner here and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had the stuffed mushrooms to start and they were very flavorful. My husband got the seafood pasta which included clams, muscles, scallops, shrimp and even a lobster tail in a beautiful sauce. I had the beef tenderloin risotto (simply amazing!) the beef is carved in house which makes it so tender. To close out the night we shared the cream brûlée (it was good not the best not the worst) the top was very crunchy which I love! The service was great and the ambiance was lovely. They even have a banquet room in the basement you can rent (for free) for parties and it seriously is nice with big leather couches and enough seating for 50 people.

A shining star on Hamilton's James St.. Quite by accident my girlfriend and I found this place. We were originally scheduled to have dinner at another place on James St. N, where there was a 45 minute wait for a table so we decided to see what other restaurants were out there. My friend mentioned Acclamation and off we drove. The place has a nice old world class and great atmosphere, with the music low key so that conversation can be heard.
We decided to try a few of the appetizer's as this was our first time. The food is to die for and the service quick and pleasant.
I had the "Award Winning Marisco Gumbo", "Stuffed Creminis" and a small "Acclamation Salad."
My friend had the "Acclamation Antipasto" and their "Greek Salad." It was a good thing that we decided to stop there, as the portions on everything were more than ample.
The Marisco Gumbo was the best seafood that I've ever eaten. The mussels tender, the clams sweet, and the shrimp and scallops flavoured with the chorizo sausage absolutely amazing. The Acclamation Salad was full of fresh fruit, apples, plums, oranges, grapefruit, blueberries, and cranberries and was dressed with a lovely raspberry vinegrette.
My friend raved about the Greek Salad, which was huge. It was a meal in itself. The Antipasto platter was delicious, with proscuitto, grilled veggies, salami, chorizo sausage and cheese, and served with a lovely foccacia bread drizzled in garlic butter.
The food presentation was wonderful, and I didn't even think about taking any pictures until it was too late and most of the food had been consumed. The only picture I was able to get was of the Acclamation Salad, and it tastes as good as it looks.
This is one of the best finds that we have discovered so far, and we will be back again soon

The Best Steak In The City. I love Steak, and have tried all the so-called other steak houses in the city of hamilton. Both High end and not so high end, but found the Steaks at Acclamation to be the best I have ever had. Our waiter sold us the steaks with a little sales pitch that the Chef only buys Certified Angus Beef.(the expensive ones at Fortinos) Even though we were a little skeptical about ordering steaks because they seemed to be so inexpensive, all 6 of us did, and it turnned out to be the best meals we think we have ever had. The steaks were cooked perfectly, with alot of flavour, and tender.(melted in my mouth) The Sauce with the steaks was so good we asked if we could buy some to take home, but were told that the sauce was considered "Liquid Gold" and referred to as JUS and takes the Chef 3 days to make so there is very little just lying around and it was quite expensive to purchase, but would be worth every penny. I will definately be returning to Acclamation for Steaks again and reccomend that everyone check this place out. It IS the new STEAKHOUSE in HAMILTON!

We decided to try Acclamation for the first time this week. We had heard soooo many good things about this place from our friends we just had to see what the big deal was. We arrived in the early evening and the place was empty, aside from the people working and a few people in the bar area. I was thinking this place looks deserted and was just going to ask my wife if she was sure she wanted to try this place cause it looked as though nobody else would dare go near the place. Just after we were seated it was like the gates opened and the people just poured in. The place litteraly filled up in a matter of minutes. The music was playing and the place was hopping. The menu looked a little on the plain side of things but WOW! Was it GOOD! The food tasted incredible, and looked just as cool. I would never have thought that food could be so vibrant. I don't know who was back in the kitchen but you could tell that they put a lot of care and pride into the products they were serving. We started with the house salad. Mixed greens with fresh berries and peaches and plums with a dressing made with raspberry yogurt, and the goats cheese tappas, warm goat cheese stuffed inside little pastries, with spinach and bacon and some really neet crispy fried leek strips. I then had a fabulous tenderloin steak cooked perfectly and the sauce was incredible. My wife had the fish of the day. Fresh grouper with a mixture of spinach, potatoe, and some other fresh summer veg, and it looked really interesting. I had the chocolate cake for dessert which was served warm with a soft centre but the Mrs was too stuffed for anything else. A couple of cappucinos to finsh and a glass of port capped off an incredible experience at what could possibly be the best restaurant in the city. Great place to go!
