FOOD:
We had come here for a quick lunch at around 3:30 pm on a Sunday afternoon. We had settled on the Ham Sandwich (Around $6.00), Hot Chocolate ($0.49 For The Package), Cheese Scone ($2.25), and Apple Dumpling (To Go; $4.99). I had asked the young woman preparing the Ham Sandwich if I could have the bread toasted; she said that it was possible (and that they usually do toast the bread), but that it would take a really long time to do. I asked how long; she then responded with two minutes. I was a bit confused as two minutes was really not that long therefore, I told her that I would wait for the sandwich. We were able to choose if we had wanted Cheddar or Swiss Cheese (we chose Cheddar), and if we had wanted Lettuce and/or Tomato (we had chosen both).

Once we had received our Ham Sandwich, it was actually quite good, with the bread nicely toasted, along with Mayonnaise, Mustard, Cheddar Cheese, Tomato, and Lettuce on top of the Ham. I was thoroughly impressed with how well put-together it was, the only thing was that it was a tad too expensive for what we had received as it was a small sandwich. In terms of the Hot Chocolate, I had opted to get one of the loose packages that were being sold instead of one already made, which was $3.00. I was given a mug with a small hot water pot however, the hot water was only lukewarm, which didn’t make the Hot Chocolate taste too appetizing.

In terms of the Cheese Scone, it was actually very tasty, with bits of Cheddar Cheese peppered throughout the scone. It was also warmed-up (which I had asked for), and when spread with butter, it was truly delicious. I also loved how large it was, definitely quite filling for the two of us! The only thing I didn’t like was that the Scones were all displayed near the cash register without being covered, with customers walking by it quite frequently. I would have liked to see it covered however, it was still good nonetheless. The Apple Dumpling was given to another individual therefore, we didn’t get a chance to try it. However, it did look quite good, and it was very large, with caramel placed around the bun in the container that was given to us.

We did notice that they had a Salad Bar, a variety of Soups, Water Canisters, and Bread Slices near the register. Everything was left-out in the open, with only a few covers on some of the items therefore, we were unsure how long everything had been sitting out for. The Salad Bar was quite small however, it seemed to have quite a bit of options, along with Fruit as well. Overall, the food was pretty good (especially the Cheese Scone) however, a bit too pricey for my liking, especially since the Ham Sandwich wasn’t very large.

ATMOSPHERE:
This café was situated in a large shop that sold various items, such as clothing, jewelry, and a variety of household items. I liked this café as it was in a closed-off area from the rest of the shop, with nicely-situated wooden chairs and tables, along with a cozy fireplace upon first entering. We were the only ones in there after we had sat down for about ten minutes therefore, we were able to admire the beauty of the café. It gave off a rustic feel, which was very relaxing. It was also quite quiet at that time, which made it a good time for reflection.

SERVICE:
We had placed our order with the young woman at the front counter upon entering the café area. She seemed polite enough however, she was quite busy as she seemed to be the only one making the items behind the counter. I was a bit perplexed when I had asked her to toast my bread for the sandwich however, she was generally a polite person throughout our entire interaction with her. When we had finished eating, a younger gentleman was cleaning the tables, and we had asked if we should leave our items on the table. He had said yes, and he cleaned the items off in a timely manner.

COST:
1 Ham Sandwich (Around $6.00) + 1 Hot Chocolate Package ($0.49) + 1 Cheese Scone ($2.25) + 1 Apple Dumpling ($4.99) = Around $15.00 (Taxes Included)

WOULD YOU RETURN?
No. Although I did find the food to be quite good, I didn’t find the prices to be reasonable enough to bring me back.

Real home cooked food that you can feel the love in your order. They add nice garnishes of fresh fruit. There salad bar is smaller than most , but all the food in it is quality food The table servers seem to be scrambling sometimes as they can overwhelmed with the families waiting to come in. It has a very casual English tea room feel

Fresh local produce sold from spring to late fall. There is also an artisanal bakery and a few other small stores including an antique one on the upper level. There is also a small dining area where you can sit down and have your warm food or cafe and pastry. The large meeting/dining hall has to be booked in advance. Outside of the building, there are a few farm animals rooming near the patio, playground and a tiny pond. Lovely flowers are everywhere around the building and the patio which makes the place so cozy and inviting.

Beautiful venue, rustic and clean. Food smells good and prices are fair. Catering flavour was phenomenal. the bread was a bit dry but that happens with catering so not a big deal. Cheese is always put of this world.
