Ordered twice from this place and both times my fiancée and me loved everything. Batter is so tasty and isn't too thick, everything tasted amazing and the fries are excellent. On top of that the sauces are incredible, I know he makes the curry in house and i'm 99.9% sure he makes the tarter as well. Both are unique and have a very nice homemade flavor to them. Highly recommend, best fish and chips I have had in a while.
Just ended my vacation on a high note thanks to all the positive reviews of Hammerhead's. I ordered from there for the first time this evening. The meals that I purchased were perfect in every way! I ordered Halibut and Chips with (homemade) coleslaw. Chips were cooked to perfection and the Halibut was light and flaky with light batter. The homemade tartar sauce was amazing, don't know what spices were used but I'm sure that's top secret as any good eating establishment must maintain a "chef's secret". The portions were generous. I ordered two Halibut and Chips dinners and still have enough leftover for one entire meal tomorrow! It was still piping hot when I arrived home as the food was cooked right in front of me. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to treat themselves to a hearty meal prepared by professional chefs (btw) who know their stuff!
What can I say that everyone else hasn't?
The fish is crispy, hot, and their gravy is something special. Not your typical dark beef gravy you'd get with a poutine, but something light and a tiny bit of tartness goes very well with the fish. It isn't combating any of the flavours that are going on, it's quite good and was a surprising addition to a very nice meal.
The salt on the fries feels sea salt, very nice and the fish wasn't overly greasy. A lot of fish places, the fish absorbs the grease because their temperatures are way too low. This isn't a problem here, their fish has always been nice and crispy without being overly greasy.
10/10 would recommend

Friendly staff, fast service. White fish is fresh tasting. Fries are also cooked well in taste. Only thing I would recommend is better tarter sauce or extra with 2 piece meal.
Can’t give this place enough praise for the quality of food produced. The BEST fish and chips in the city. Everything is so fresh and it’s gluten free. So you don’t feel disgusting after finishing the meal. It doesn’t feel heavy or greasy at all. Try the curry on rice dishes too!! Many seafood options here.
Got fish for dinner from Hammerheads on Ottawa St.
Staff were friendly and very knowledgeable about the seafood they sell. I picked up some jumbo shrimp.
The fish was flakey, the batter is crispy and light. Fries were perfectly cooked and well seasoned with salt. Coleslaw had a good tang to it.
I LOVE that they now use a seperate container for the fries so the fish doesn't make them soggy.
I think I have a new favorite fish and chips place! Oh and on Tuesdays they have a 3pc haddock special for only $20!

Amazing fish and chips! Fogo Island cod and fresh cut fries. All amazing. Not greasy. Well worth the trip and the price. Absolutely recommend!!! You do have to take out so be ready to eat in your car. Love this place. as a follow up they also have retail and we bought the chowder and the Fogo Island Shrimp. Amazing products. This is our new GO to eatery and retail!
I have been here twice now and I will continue to come here for fish and chips. They are super friendly, massive portions (dinner for two really means dinner for two), and delicious lightly battered fish. Added to the regular repertoire of Hamilton dining.
Amazing fish and chips! The batter is light but tasty, no grease at all. The fries are super yummy with the skin still on and perfectly salted.
There is no seating inside but there are tables and chairs outside if you want to eat right away. They also packed the fish in a seperate box than the fries which was nice.

Have heard great things about their fish and chips, so we decided to partake in the Tuesday special. They definitely live up to their reputation of quality and tasty food. The curbside service was an awesome surprise 😮
