Omg I'm enjoying the best chicken club sandwich ever!!!!!
Cobb salad was absolutely fabulous. Will be returning again and again for that and the delicious latte.

I have been here many times for dessert and tea in the past . My husband and I used to sit on the steps eating ice cream on the steps of this place on our nightly walks when we lived in the neighbourhood . Back then Locke St was just starting to become popular and this building was a church. Last week after eating at Naromas ( next door) my daughter and I decided to come here for a tea.
Atmosphere- When walking into this church like building you notice that where the alter would have been is now the kitchen and counter where you order. The open area where pews sat years ago is now replaced with tables and chairs in a very minimalist decor. This is a popular place for people wanting a quiet library type place with free wifi. There is a loft where a choir I am sure once sang that now has more of the same seating. I like the place but I think it has so much more potential to become the place to hang out on Locke. That tope space would be great for couches and soft pillows. The acoustics are great so every sound can be heard . Great for a church environment, not so good for a coffee shop. They need materials to absorb some of it. We could hear conversations at other tables very easily which can be distracting.
Food- I like the Earl Grey brand of tea they serve here. Again, as in my past reviews I can not comment on the coffee Sadly for you ( and me for that matter), I only drink coffee with Baileys and most coffee shops do not have that condiment choice in their places. My daughter had the chai tea latte and we bought her boyfriend a carmel latte on the way out. Both reports on flavour was positive. Today I had a double chocolate cookie- It was not one of my favourites . It may have been baked that day but sitting out for the day made it quite hard and stale in texture. I like soft, and even better, warm cookies when ordering them as a dessert. Too bad they couldn't throw them in a small oven even for a few minutes just to melt the chips. That would be yummy. In the past I have also had the apple fritters. They are deep fried in front of you just like elephant ears are done at festivals around town . Then they are dipped in a cinnamon sugar mixture. They come out tasting warm and nice. As I recall them size of them being on the smallish for the $ size. I plan to go back with my daughter to help her study and i will try them ( maybe get a picture next time too)
Service- Neither here nor there. Unremarkable except that there were a few people working when we were there and it was not busy. There were 2 tables with garbage from previous customers that sat on table for the length of our visit. To be fair it was not a long time but it was not busy and there was a lot of just chatting in back.
Impression- I will be back for the fritters and maybe a sandwich so stay tuned.
The atmosphere is very unique, comforting and spacious. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food... made with love. Every single dish that came out was picture perfect. If you go you MUST try the fritters. They're the best! We've been twice, here are our pics....
I come here a lot to hang out with friends. The coffee and smoothies here are pretty good. Some of the menu items are pretty pricey and I haven't tried many of them so I can't speak to their quality. The fritters and the hot apple cider here are absolutely delicious and very addictive. I highly recommend the fritters especially if you're coming here for the first time. There's usually plenty of room here too, especially on weekdays. I do wish there was better lighting upstairs though because it can be very hard to see your papers when you're doing work or doing some reading.
I would rate it 5 stars for food and coffee. Apple Fritters are just great. Friendly staff and Quiet place to do some work. Decoration and tables are a little old.
Great selection and healthy choices. Decor is kind of rustic but warm and welcoming. There is an upstairs area that I didn’t make it to, but assuming more seating up there. Need to try their fritters next time!
Firstly, they have the best apple fritters. But generally I just go there to drink Americanos, and enjoy their huge and comfortable tables to get some work down. I'm a big dude and as much as I love all the little boutique coffee shops in this city, their tiny furniture scares me. I feel like Will Ferrell's ELF in Santa's Workshop. Not at Brown Dog. I can comfortably stretch my legs out there.
Amazing food, great atmosphere, and the beverages are the best. No complaints here. Anyone looking at this place needs to visit!
Came here a lot since I moved to Hamilton 2 years ago, sadly this place has been closed down since march and at this point I don't know if it'll be coming back.
There was another coffee shop I frequented a few blocks away that put up a "closed until further notice" sign more than a year ago and they never came back.
