Did our wedding anniversary dinner here and we enjoyed it immensely. The ambiance reminds you that this is a classic and historical staple in Hamilton region, established in the mid 90s and continues to impress area residents today.
Everything was really tasty from the starters to the cappuccino at the end. Really loved our experience and Victor (the Owner) was a great host and did a great job checking in and making sure we were happy with the service here. Food was amazing A++, just wanted to reiterate this important fact 🤤
Husband and I moved in nearby and have been meaning to check this place out. We were the first couple of the evening and the restaurant was very cute and cozy. We ordered the calamari, seafood chowders and the chicken parmigiana and seafood linguine. We didn’t know about the bread basket (with the delicious cheese biscuits) so by the time we had the bread, calamari and our seafood chowders we were almost full. This is a testament to their very generous portions. The seafood chowder was the superstar of the evening. So chunky and hearty. Our mains were absolutely delicious, portions were respectable and whatever we couldn’t get through - our waiter had kindly wrapped for us in a to go box. Leftovers were just as good reheated!!! By the time we were ready to leave, the restaurant became a lot more lively with what looked like dedicated regulars. Definitely will be making this a spot for date nights.
Overall we enjoyed our meal. A couple flaws in the way some of the meat was cooked (rare) that staff was happy to correct. We felt the prices were quite reasonable for both food and drink. If I were to visit again I would order a simple steak dinner cooked medium. The sides that came with it were delicious.
The food was fantastic, and the staff were lovely. Will be back for sure! The prices are also really good for the food

Wonderful first experience at Purple Pear. First, the atmosphere is delightful with Old World charm and great attention to detail. Second, the food was incredible. Lastly, our server Shannon and the owner Victor were incredible. Making sure everything was great and a hint of conversation that made us feel so welcome. One of my new favourites!
Quaint and quiet little steakhouse nestled on Barton St.
The inside of the steakhouse, mostly adorned with pear imagery and a startling lack of purple, was well maintained if a bit dated.
The internal atmosphere, intimately lit with candles around vintage wooden furniture gives a cozy vibe immediately that is fortified moreso by the owner and servers attention to detail.
While active on the floor the owner was helpful and insightful on the menu while maintaining his charismatic and welcoming demeanor throughout the whole night.
The filet was well cooked at rare and was served alongside roughages and a garlic mash. The bacon paired with the filet could have been cooked more and as such had a slight rubbery texture. The house white was good while the house red received good reception from the whole table.
All in all, a great experience that helped to grant a better idea of why this competent restaurant has lasted long enough to be a Hamilton staple.
Went to The Purple Pear not knowing what to expect but was blown away. Went for anniversary dinner and was glad we did. Every bite was delicious and the service was at the right amount. Victor and his team will take you on a food voyage you will never forget. Can't wait to go back so keep a seat warm for us Victor! RUN TO THE PURPLE PEAR...YUM!!!!
Last night we dined with friends at the Pear. As always we were not disappointed. Even though the restaurant was full, the service was great and the food arrived piping hot. Delicious and beautifully presented. Our friends were impressed! Thanks Victor.
