My husband and I recently moved to Hamilton and have made it a point to dine at many restaurants in the city, old and new. We wanted to truly explore what the city's culinary scene has to offer. In too many cases we have been disappointed....but not at Mattson & Co. We have now dined here for both dinner and brunch and each were the best we have experienced in the city. The food is creative but very accessible, well cooked and full of flavour. Service has been friendly and professional. Would definitely recommend.
I honestly never leave reviews but felt the need to leave one after reading all the mixed reviews about this restaurant. My husband and I had dinner with friends here for the first time and had an amazing experience. From the friendly owner greeting us as we walked in, to the amazing wait staff and unbelievable food, this restaurant is hands down one of the best we’ve been to. Highly recommend this restaurant to all.
Had an amazing lunch. Great food (locally sourced) & service. Highly recommend dining at this hot spot, on Locke St. Make a reservation, so you don’t miss out. Will definitely return.
You know when something is so delicious and you as so full. Well that was me and I could not stop until I finished my last bite. The food was outstanding.
The first of many stops on a delicious Hamilton Food Tour #HamOntFT, we got a sneak peak inside the beautiful Mattson & Co. right before their official opening. The elegant restaurant also opens to a lower second floor leading to a beautiful bar and extra seating. We were introduced to the restaurant by the charming owner and staff before embarking on the first bite of our 10 stop food journey.
We started on a beautifully presented Farmers Market Charcuterie Board. Three flavourful cured meats, two soft cheeses, cocktail onions, pickles, olives and jellies. The flavours on the board worked well together and the dish was fantastic for sharing.
Then a scent caught our attention as bowls of slow braised merlot marinated beef short rib arrived at our tables. The steaming short rib sat a top a cremini & shiitake mushroom demi, Yukon gold purée & white truffle essence. This dish is everything you can ask for, a beautiful marriage between a usually butch style BBQ meat and a delicate restaurant quality dish garnished to perfection.
Mattson & Co. is undoubtedly a wonderful addition to Hamilton's growing food scene.
