This amazing family have owned and ran this incredible little take out restaurant for over 40 (?) years. The food is always hot, fast fresh and tasty and the portions are huge. I easily get two meals or more out of my combo. The lady that manages the front counter takes orders and process payments is such a wonderful, friendly , helpful and kind person. I don't know how she keeps up the pace and with everything running so smoothly . I have been coming here for over ten years and would not go anywhere else. I highly recommend it.

It's a very small place with really only a counter to order from and a couple of seats to wait for your order. Prices are very reasonable. Technically this is my second visit to Hop Sing though the first time I ordered a complete meal. We ordered the chicken Cantonese chow mein, The Hop Sing fried rice, the honey garlic ribs and four egg rolls. The food was very fresh, hot, tasty and filled with all the good things and no filler. We were very happy and can't wait to come back.

This is our favourite Chinese food in town. It is a small place, not suitable for eat in and definitely isn't the fanciest restaurant I have been in. That being said, they prepare the food fresh, quick and with great flavor. The prices are fantastic too. Our favourite is the veggie fried rice. It has just enough veggies and seasoning with a nice smokey flavour.

The food varies from visit to visit, but my meal tonight was the best I have ever experienced there and one of the best Chinese meals in a restaurant that I have ever had. I like things flavorful and spicy, and they prepare it exactly the way that I like it, so yes, they are accommodating. I never order the combos that are the standard fare in most Westernized Chinese restaurants. They can - and will - prepare your food in a more traditional way if you request it and over time will get to know you and make it more and more according to your liking.

Cheapest lunch ever. 6 chicken balls. And fried rice. Taste pretty good. With a coke acola. Only 7 bucks. Well worth what i got.

We recently moved from BC to Halifax. We have ordered twice (both order was delivered surprisingly fast) from Hop Sing and would highly recommend them. The quality of the food we ordered were on par, if not, better than any you get in Metro Vancouver. Delicious Chinese food and a definite must try ;)

Good food, fast service, good prices, they do get busy sometimes so call in and then pick up for the best experience. Always friendly staff, you know it's fresh if you order vegetables and you can hear them chopping in the back, not reheating something. It feels like a family run business, I'm pretty sure it is. Ask about the home made plum sauce.

When I was living in Spryfield, my family and I always go to Hop Sing for their take out Chinese Food.
While I now live in Western Newfoundland, I miss their food greatly.
Anytime I return to Halifax for summer vacation or visit family members, I always go to Hop Sing for their Canadian Chinese Food as its excellent.
I highly recommend it.

Two hours wait for delivery. I spoke with the manager all she kept saying was we were busy. Fine but you could of out of respect let me know you are this many minutes behind and we either could of said ok or no thanks we will order elsewhere. Also at the end of the conversation with the manager telling her we will pick the food up over two hours at this point and she had hung up on me. Very rude. Finally when we got the food it was cold, and horrible. Had better. Recommend for people not to order from this place. Learned my lesson, never again

without a doubt the worst chinese I have eaten - should have known by the limited menu - no schechuan - went with the 'classic' canadian and it was truly crap= ginger chicken - really??? chicken balls with something on it - it was really bad -sorry great wall or nine wont leave you again

We used to love this place and order once per week. They were quick and delicious. Then they started taking well over an hour to deliver our food. Every single time. Also, the food does not taste as good as it used to. The past few times we ordered something they have gotten it wrong and are rude when we call about it. They never offer fix the issue that we are calling about (even after paying $40 for a takeout meal for our family). Poor customer service and definitely not as good as they used to be. We had such a poor experience the last time we ordered that we will never be ordering from here again.

Thumbs up. Great value and quality. Food is consistently well prepared and service always polite and quick. Fortunately they DO offer no MSG as an option and it actually lets a fresher taste come through - and no side effects. (MSG is a neurotoxin) Their vegetables are notably fresh and crisp. I've turned a few friends in HS's direction and they are equally impressed. Probably the best in HRM.
