Review Cheelin Restaurant - Halifax

Okay, we stumbled onto this place on date night as the gf and I were craving some Korean BBQ style meat as our regular go-to place abruptly closed down. The atmosphere is chill with plenty of space to feel comfortable. The portions were generous, the meat selection was excellent and the service was great. They could use more apps and sauces on the menu. On the downside, the air inside can get a bit smokey sometimes. Overall, highly recommended for any bbq meat lover.

We have grown fond of this restaurant. The meat taste amazing, especially the beef. The servers were amazing. They are comforting and always ensures you have what you needed. They ensured that we were comfortable with the whole process of ordering and cooking by giving instructions and suggestions of time on the grill. Water was always filled. My favourite meat is the B2 - Sweet Soy Marinated Short Ribs, B3 - Chef Special Beef Brisket and P2 - Korean Spicy Pork Belly. It’s a little on the pricy side of $39.99 but it is AYCE. They also have beef tounge if you’d like to try. Don’t worry the servers will teach you on how to cook it.

Top notch BBQ restaurant. You can feel from all food they served. All meats and seafoods are high quality and fresh. Lower fat than the rest of BBQ restaurants in Halifax. A lot of quality side dishes such as rice cheese ball, cold noodle, Bibimbap. The highlight is, the oily paper was pasted on grilling plate in order to minimize burning parts from grilled meats. It is good for your health. Finally they will serve you the ice cream stick from Korea. This is my new favorite AYCE BBQ restaurant in town.

A Must try! This Korean BBQ is not only a family tan business but a high quality and delicious place to eat! Ingredients are fresh and you can tell that they take pride in the food and service! A must try is the Bibimbap! This B2 Short ribs (marinated) are fantastic!

I went to this new opened restaurant 2 weeks ago. They were not on google map at that time. Beautiful decorations with cozy atmosphere. Food was served in small portions. We tried many items on the menu. Meat are fresh and in good qualities. Appetizers, bibimbap and soups are tasty. Everything was just perfect. Will definitely come back. Parking lot was big.

Really reasonable Korean BBQ spot. Very high quality meat, vegetables and seafood to choose from. Good sauces. AYC order from their menu, but also you can order smaller meals from the menu. Couldn't ask for better servers and preparation. Just as a caution, they do charge if you order and don't eat the food, so be cautious until you understand their portion sizes. Their beef and Korean ribs are exceptional, loved the shrimp and bim bop... Corn salad and pumpkin soup were well loved! Looking forward to trying here again, check their hours, open for lunch just on weekends... Save room for their ice treat on a stick... A mid point between a popsicle and ice cream bar, they were soooo good!

Good price and quality. My recommendation is asking for a half portion to try or to repeat a dish.

This is our second time coming here and we absolourely love it. The food is great, and the meat is amazing! Would highly recommend if you're a Korean BBQ lover.

By far the best BBQ we have tried in the HRM. The meat was delicious, they have large table for groups. The service was amazing. Our server was so attentive and we did not wait for anything. We came close to closing time and they were so quick and accommodating! We will be back!

Excellent service, very helpful and friendly staff. The food is fresh and tasty, lots of options for the AYCE menu. It’s expensive ($39 per person) but you have a two hour limit so lots of time to get your money’s worth. Especially worth it for special occasions.

AMAZING service and great food. Our server was so attentive to our table. He was the only server with a table of 15+ people as well as a few other tables as well as our table of 3. We weren’t rushed and he had great suggestions.

It’s amazing place. This has always been talked about by my friends and workmates and good thing we had time to try it. We came in for lunch, which I guess is a good time, It's a bit packed but we're lucky to have been seated right away. Although it was lunch, you can choose to be served with dinner AYCE, more food to choose from. Their employees are fast to serve our orders, they were all nice and friendly. The place is superb, clean and spacious. We will surely come back for more ribs, and their side dishes. They have enough parking spots!

Best Korean BBQ restaurant in Halifax. The meat is marinated better compared to the other Korean BBQ restaurant. Staff is always friendly and checks up on you for more orders. Price is a little bit expensive but it's worth it. I would recommend the dinner all-you-can-eat instead of lunch because it has way more options. Vegetarian options: The menu has mushrooms combination, butter corn cheese, sweet potato, lettuce, cold tofu, bibimbap and cold noodles.

I ordered lunch for our firm, 9 people in the office at the time. $137 total, $10 tip sight unseen. Was told it would be 1-1 1/2 hr for delivery. Understandable, i called at 11:30am for a lunch delivery. (FYI your voicemail says 11am for lunch and your website says 11:30am) Ordered at 11:38, food was delivered at 1:30pm. I understand being the first order of the day that the oil might not be as hot as it should be because it takes time to heat up. We are more than happy to wait for food that is good. The egg rolls and spring rolls were so greasy the bags were clear and the grease was pouring out of them. One order of Lunch special #12 shrimp and veg was so greasy my coworker couldn't even get half way through it, another said she couldn't finish hers for similar reasons(Yu Xaing chicken). My lunch was missing from the order. I called to advise, 20 minutes later my lunch appeared with another egg roll which was again super greasy. I'm not sure if the lunch staff are different from the dinner staff, i did hear good things about the dinners. Now that i have read the reviews there are NOT many that are good. However when eating downtown it is always hit or miss. My hope with this review is to educate the owners. I work in a firm that has regular lunch meetings, i order from a few places, if i had served this to a client i would have been so embarrassed! Quality control when food is going out the door is so important especially with social media they way it is, just like that you have yet another poor review. People will wait for good food, waiting and having poor food makes people not come back. Good luck in your future down there. If you keep putting out lunch like that you won't survive downtown.

Haven't had a chance to try the food yet seeing as I ordered at 5 pm and it's still not here. And they only just now left to deliver it. *** Update I received the food 1 hour and ten minutes late and the food isn't good at all. Worst 50 dollars I have spent in a long time.

Owner is very nice. All are local vegetables. Cheelin restaurant is very clean and food are delicious.
