This is one of my favorite restaurants downtown Halifax. The food is delicious, no matter what I order. They are very busy but always quick to get your food. The staff are always friendly, polite and helpful. My favorite dish is the pork fried dumplings in noodle soup.

We had the shrimp noodle wonton soup, Jackys chicken with the fried noodles, curry fish balls, turnip cake, dumplings and hot & sour soup.... and we were BLOWN away.

I felt homesick and decided to try this place and I was not disappointed!! Staff were very friendly, and it was a cozy place that got very busy during lunch, but we had a great time and definitely coming back!!

If you are a fan of HK style cafe, this cafe is a "must visit."
I have a bowl of beef brisket noodle, a pan fried white carrot cake and a cup of HK style milk tea.
In the case of the beef brisket noodle, the owner is so attentive that two options are available, namely, meat portion or tendon portion. I choose the latter. The brisket is so soft that an elderly will not find it difficult to chew. The alkaline taste of the noodle is absent so that you need not use red vinegar. The soup is so tasty that you are tempted to finish all of it. It seems that MSG is not used. (I am MSG sensitive).
The pan fried white carrot cake is skillfully fried. The surface is crispy. The ingredients show the chef's generosity and seriousness.
The HK style milk tea is silky and not too sweet.
A visit to this cafe is a delightful experience.
The sunroom is sufficient and particularly joyful in summer.

I got mixed beef noodles soup ( it had shrimp dumplings and beef) for $17.20. Broth and shrimp wontons were delicious but the beef was hard to chew for me and I didn’t like the noodles they served. The traditional beef noodles soup is white noodles which I prefer. Staffs were really friendly.

Great Cantonese restaurant! I had the spicy noodle soup and it was delicious and spicy. I can see why locals recommended it to me. Definitely will be coming back!

Moved to NS from Toronto and I gotta say, the selection for authentic Chinese food is pretty slim. But Jacky’s Cafe is amaaazing! My fave is the shrimp wonton soup with pan fried dumplings, with a side of Chinese greens and the HK milk tea (cold). Highly recommended!!!!

Beef noodle was amazing, even better with the chilli oil. I like how for takeout they separate the broth from the noodles and beef, and you Actually get a large portion when you pour it all out in a bowl

Straight forward dishes but super delicious! I had the King Po Chicken which was just chicken, peppers, onions on noodles but the sauce made this dish amazing! The meat egg rolls are also awesome. Great friendly service as well.

I'd never been to Jacky's before, so what a pleasant surprise to find a new place to eat! The food was good overall, but my favourite is their fried pork dumplings! They're so tasty I barely contained myself eating them!
Since it was Saturday, I enjoyed a sticky rice log, which contains some interesting textures and flavours. Very enjoyable with their chilli sauce!.
Their braided beef stew was nice, though a little tougher. That's okay, they did a far better job with that beef than I ever could!
The service was awesome as well, and the folks are happy to converse while they work. That's kind of them and I felt very at home! The place is cute and easier to find than I expected. That's big for me with my visual impairment!
Watch out for outside, you have to go around some...wood? That's the building getting updated I guess, not Jacky's doing. I recommend going, though. Yum!!

This place has a special place in my heart. I've been going here with my mom for the last 15 years and the food never disappoints. Their turnip cake is next level delicious and their congee with fried bread is always a delight. What's more, the staff here are such sweethearts. It has a strong family vibe and it seems like there's a lot of integrity going into their food and service. I highly recommend!
