Cousin's Is Great!. I've always enjoyed going to Cousin's. The food is delicious, reasonably priced, and the servers are quick and friendly.
Good breakfast. Stopped in for breakfast, good food, friendly service. My only complaint would be that they were a little shy on the hash browns, small price to pay for a decent breakfast. I do plan on returning.
I love this place. The food is always great and very reasonably priced! I've had mostly good service and the food is always fast. If you're looking for some good ol' fashion diner-style grub, head over to Cousin's.
Our group of 6 came for Sunday breakfast. Service was fast, food fresh and hot. Nice portions...not too much, not too little.....I have been here for lunch too....awesome Greek food....down homie delish.
Yummm..... If you want a good, solid home-style meal, this is the place to go. The food is always good...tasty and fresh; the portions are handsome to say the least and the staff are very friendly and good fun, especially if you are a "regular". I am particularly fond of their Greek selections, as the owners are of Greek origin and their dishes are the real deal, not some tarted up dish for appearances sake. Always save room for dessert, which are freshly made and very good indeed.
Decor worth the cranky. This Cousins (Robie and Lady Hammond, not Agricola) has a charm that's rooted in nostalgia: plaid carpeting and a menu that includes drinks called things like Grasshopper. Pretend you are in Mad Men. The full house of regulars, many of whom are 55+ and who seem to know each other is heartwarming as well. However, the service is consistently cranky, which suggests that whoever all these waitresses work for must be a PITA. Oh, and the food, right. Varies. Roast dinners good, chicken parm good, clubhouse is made with dark meat mixed in and *no option for just white*, ?? In other words, every once in a while, when we are feeling very happy and tolerant and nostalgic, we go and get a roast dinner and chicken parm :)
Had the Greek platter which was very flavourful and a generous portion without being too much. And compared to other Greek restaurants it was an excellent price. Nice homecooked food. Not a fancy place but it was steady busy with tons of repeat customers.
Great "home-cooking" with a huge menu.
A blast from the past. This restaurant has been around for quite some time and I don't believe the furniture and decor has ever changed. Having said that it is very clean and the food is great if you are up for hot turkey sandwiches and BLTs. Recommended.
Near by spacious restaurant. Friendly service. Large portions. Delicious food. Would definitely recommend the big breakfast. The western omelet was equally as tasty.
Small out of the way place in North end Halifax with a great taste. Nice Greek offerings as well as standard meals. The dessert was great. Recommend a visit
I've been going to cousins ever since I was a toddler almost 40 years ans their food is just as tasty as it was then. They also have Greek dishes as they are a Greek family owned establishment! They have the best baklava EVER! OH and coconut cream pie. 😋 yummy. Some of the must haves are hot hamburger platter, hot chicken sandwich, any of their burgers, kabob meat with veggies in pita pork and chicken- both are to die for. As well as their fries ans gravy, real mashed potatoes and the pork chop dinner. Omg I almost forgot the seafood platter is where it's at. Also the BLT w/cheese or the one with BLT, cheese, hamburger, and turkey! Their service is always friendly unless you get one of the hags that have worked there for years! Will vacuum around you while eating! The owners are incredibly nice as I have known then for years 😀definitely would recommend 👌
Been going to Cousin's for breakfast on and off for many years and it tastes and feels like home. A jewel in the crown of North End Halifax. Their Greek dishes are WONDERFUL! Also, this place has THE BEST home style breakfast you will find in peninsular Halifax at prices that are hard to beat. Do yourself a favor and try it if you haven't.
It’s had keeping an age-long restaurant like Cousins but they’ve done a good job with holding down the forte
Pretty decent food, big portions, and decently priced. Not our usual type of food eatery, but we enjoyed the experience. Kids loved their meals, and ours were good too. The decor is pretty dated, but not in bad shape. The staff was attentive and accommodating, our waitress made conversation with the kids and made them laugh. Overall a pretty great find for a family dinning place! We all left happy and stuffed!
Went for breakfast with my family a few days ago. The breakfast was so darn delicious, the staff was so polite and welcoming, the atmosphere was mainly elderly people who met after church on Sundays. Was such a warm place to go with an infant. Would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant for food and cannot wait to go, again. That ham with my breakfast was so mouth watering perfect!!
Been going to this diner for a long time....staff are great, friendly and efficient. The food is good and comes quickly. The new owner is not as good as the previous owners. I know food costs have gone up but some dishes have increased a lot, hopefully the place isn't priced out of business.
Stopped in for brunch and it was awesome. Bacon, eggs, Texas thick toast, homemade hash browns, ham and fresh OJ. Spot on. I will be back for sure. Special shout out to our server Holly, very pleasant and excellent service.
This place is an institution. I said this not because its fancy menu or gorgeous looking servers. It is a time capsule from the 50s. Our family has been coming here for years and hope to see this restaurant last as long as it can be. The pan fried haddock, scallop and clams, weekend brunch are my fav, priced reasonably too. Expect to fill out a background information sheet of your family history and chat up a storm with the waitresses, they are part of the deal! Love it :)
Another favourite of my parents... My dad worked at Caterpillar when it was on Kempt for a couple decades, and hit this local spot at least weekly. Canadian and Greek comfort food, nicely done. The place is basically unchanged since the late 60s. Developing the property is always on the horizon, so if you want a time traveling experience, head on over soon. Though not spectacular, the food is good, earnest, and worth every penny. Strong neighborhood vibes. Nice servers that will happily ignore you in that charming old fashioned diner kind of way, and your meat might have real gristle.
I've only ordered breakfast here and it's served fast and hot whether it's 10 a.m. or 2 p.m. I love the 70s Diner decor the staff are friendly and make you feel comfortable and the clientele just help round out the casual welcoming vibe. The food isn't super cheap or super good but I enjoy the overall experience and even after you've been served the bill there's no rush to beat it so hang out for a while and digest. I should try their Greek Specialties before I make a full review and I recommend you do too as I've heard there are changes in the wind for the property.
