Sawadee Tea House, on Granville Parade in Halifax, is a tea shop like no other. The ultra modern, sterile assembly line you might find in other shops is happily nowhere to be seen at Sawadee. Walking through the door, you are met with an array of displays, enticing you further – walls of tea pots, cups, mugs and such stretch out before your left. A water display in front of you lends a wonderful ambiance to the room. You can turn right to a wall, floor to ceiling with, I am sure, hundreds of teas.
The friendliness of the owner wraps all this into an oasis in the heart of the City. You have a migraine, there is a tea for that. Digestive issues; a tea for that. Sleeplessness – again, a tea for that... I think you get the idea. You can even get your teas custom blended for your preferences.
The tea quality is second to none, as is Mei Mei’s knowledge. I’m sure she could tell you which side of which mountain which tea was grown, and if pushed, I imagine she could even tell you the day it was picked… maybe….
But more than teas, Sawadee is full of baubles and jewels. Handcrafted jewelry, semi precious stones, beads and scarves, carvings, incense … the list goes on.
If you’ve never been there, you need to add this to your list of places to visit in Halifax. If you have been there, then, like me, you know it is an amazing place you will return to again and again.
Sawadee Tea House - a fabulous place to find teas from around the world; herbals; tea ware; and give items to delight!! Even sit with a tea and treat. I love the chai lattes! Traditional. Mie Mie's Thai traditional art work are worth a visit alone. You won't be disappointed in stopping by. Buy the perfect gift for everyone on your shopping list.
It was an interesting shop, with friendly and knowledgeable customer service. The owner is an herbalist, botanist, and Ayurvedic practitioner. Great tea, blended on the spot for me. Worth a visit.
My husband and I just visited the Sawadee Tea House for the first time . What a great experience! Who knew shopping for tea could be so enjoyable and informative. We were given wonderful personal service and learned so much about the health benefits of tea. No more store bought tea for my husband and I think I have been converted from coffee drinker to tea drinker !! We will be back for more tea and a pat for the sweet Jenny!

I finally had an opportunity to visit this shop and was not disappointed! The tea I purchased was far superior than similar ones I have tried laden with natural and artificial flavours. Customer service was second to none, and there is so much to see when you poke through the shop. I will definitely be back!
Sawadee Tea House is by far my favourite tea house in Halifax. The large collection of tea is complimented by the coolest tea accessories. Not to mention the owner is a very educated botanist who makes the experience that much better!

Escape the hustle and bustle of crowded, loud places and totally relax with your choice of tea (and no rush in making that choice among the variety available here). Though it can be meditative, it also offers a feast for the eyes with unique and beautiful jewellry, among other things. Upstairs you may be offered a complimentary first-visit Tarot card reading from talented Sarah Paterson if you're there when she is reading.
I've been going to Sawadee Tea House for years. You simply won't find a better selection of teas in the city! Plus an unparalleled range of porcelain and gifts and treasures imported from Thailand. Mie Mie can find a tea for any need, desire or ailment you have! Check it out, you won't regret it.

The tea room/store is amazing. The owner is so knowledgeable and kind. Had a nice visit. I also bought some teas.

Fantastic, personalized service every time I visit Sawadee Tea House. Mie Mie is very knowledgable of herbs, and will make well-balanced blends at your request for any need.
Great service and very personalized selection of teas! Just tell them what you need. Do you have a head cold? They mix a blend to soothe. Got an exam you're studying for? There's a blend to help you focus. Just want something sweet? Or earthy? Or spicy? Or citrusy? Impressive encyclopedic knowledge of all the teas in the shop and great other gifts, too!

Sawadee Tea House has been my 'go-to' for tea for ~10 years. Mie Mie and her son, Jeremy, are wonderful - they treat their customers with great respect, know their product well, and take great pride in bringing high-quality teas to Halifax from around the world. I love hearing about Mie Mie's trips to Asia to visit tea plantations and source her products. Definitely a gem!
Omgs amazing. Fell in love as soon as I walked in the door. And so welcoming :) thank you for helping me with teas to send to my friend (she sends her love and thanks back, she and her partner really miss your shop). Will definitely be back soon for a larger bag of jasmine tea and maybe a few others hehehe
The atmosphere is gorgeous and uniquely cultural. It's calm and peaceful with some amazing, friendly customer service. The owners' values are reflected by their more environmentally conscience decor which has educational facts scattered as an optional scavenger hunt almost. The product of tea as well as everything in the store was quality. Also they have tarrot reading every Thursday!!!
I went to just pick up some tea for a cleanse for my girl friend and was blown away by the awesome feel of the whole place. The staff went out of there way to offer amazing customer service and expertise. Highly recommend.

What a wonderful tea boutique! An excellent selection of loose teas and the service really adds a nice touch. The owner, Mei Mei is very kind and helpful when explaining various types of teas. If you are looking for high quality teas with superb service, Sawadee is the place to go! Highly reccommended.
I've always had excellant service here. I found the staff, particularly the owner, to be extremely helpful and knowledgeable. She was absolutely amazing with helping me. I've gone a couple times and love the tranquil peaceful atmosphere where I can sit and drink a cup of tea. It's definitely a hidden gem.
Just dropped by for some bubble tea there today. I love the smell of incense and their calming music. They have a huge variety of loose leaf tea that will really amaze you.
What a great tea shop! I was there on vacation with my girlfriend and we stumbled upon this place while walking Halifax. Along with some really cool nik nacs, there is a great selection of teas and tea kits. We went on a Wednesday and they were offering tarot card readings. I don’t know much about them, but my girlfriend said the reading (apparently at a really good price) was awesome and performed by knowledgeable and professional staff.

Sawadee tea house is really an enchanting place . The sweet flavour of teas , the beautiful statues from Burma and the quality jade they have is amazing .The calming music and the spiritual atmosphere ,not to mention the niceness of people behind the counter ,make it a wonderful place to shop. Every time I go to that store I feel in a good mood all day it’s like entering a magical universe .Please try it you will love it !❤️🙏🌷
A true hidden gem in Halifax. I have lived in Halifax for 13 years now and surprising just discovered this amazing tea house for the first time when I was searching for a special tea blend. They were the only spot in town that had all the ingredients needed to make this tea. Mimi the owner is very knowledgeable about teas and brings her tea passion to life in this store. If you live in Halifax or just visit, you need to stop by and have a tea at this stop. You will find yourself taking a bag with you home.

Cosy ethnic atmosphere, wide selection of teas for enthusiasts (just tell them what you like/don't like and the staff make suggestions as there's no list). Got my tarot cards read here by Adriana, and she was extremely spot on.
I love this place so much, there are so many nice teas to try and everyone who works here is very friendly and helpful! I wish I would have gone more often when I was a student in the same building but now I come back every chance I get!
