Love this bakery/cafe. Great service from the staff. The ambiance in the cafe is really nice. Great selection of baked goods and types of coffees.

The place is beautiful. They have a beautiful garden but the last few months the price increase a lot like if you want to have just Corazon Almagosa new pay almost like seven dollars it’s increased done before I believe it’s too much.

The staff and selection were amazing. The coffee and food were great. The inside of the shop was cozy and easy to get around.

Wonderful place - delicious pastry - warm atmosphere! I usually don't write reviews, but I am a regular customer here, so couldn't miss a chance to leave my review. Atmosphere is absolutely filled with warmness and cheerfulness - wonderful for bold morning coffee as well as cup of tea during the rainy day. Although the service might not be the most personalized, however only because it is partially patisserie shop and cafe, I am truly fascinated with the speed and accuracy of the staff taking great care of such high flow of customers. Not to forget their variety of pastry and bread products - you can always find something for your special moment. Thanks!

Great coffee, huge cafe au lait, tasty croissants, and unique cinnamon buns. The croissant sandwich was tasty but a little expensive at $6.95. The cinnamon bun dough felt similar to the croissant which I found very interesting. Friendly staff, and a very cozy, warm cafe.

I loved this little bakery, big variety of bakery items and sandwiches. Nice coffee and tea options. Quaint inside and a nice small patio outside. The staff was very polite and friendly.

No cinnamon rolls/buns which is why we headed here, but the hot chocolate and almond croissant and rest were fabulous.

We went to Julien's and we loved it! They have lots of desserts. It is difficult to choose which one you will take home. We bought the White Sourdough bread and an apple pie. The bread is very soft and the crunch crust is delicious! The apple pie has plenty of tasting, the apples are very caramelized, and crunch crust! Wow! Sorry, we didn't have enough time to take the pictures for the apple pie... we ate too fast... 🤤😋🤤😋🤤😋 It was a delightful experience. I really recommend them.

It’s a gem in the Hydrostone area offering bakery items and coffee. A great place to spend time in the morning.

Lovely setting, with a very European feeling to the cafe. The Americano is quite nice, and the pastries are plentiful in choice, and tasty. Music being played is often French or Italian of origin, and gives a lovely atmosphere. Great spot for some solitude, or a nice chat.

Stopped in just before closing yesterday. Staff were very friendly and the shop is so cute. I tried their rhubarb tart. It was so good! I will have to come back. I bought some bread too and can't wait to make a sandwich with it.

Definitely an exquisite little place. Delicious. Fresh. So many choices I was overwhelmed but so happy! Smells amazing and busy busy little spot even on early Sunday mornings. The staff was fun, courteous and respectful regardless of how busy they were. Lots of locals. That's how you know it's a good place. Most delicious moka I've ever had too!

This was my very first visit to Julien's. There was sanitizer at the entrance, proper spacing between tables. The pastries all looked amazing. I went for the almond tart. It was fantastic. The cafe was very clean and the staff were so friendly

This place is delicious and makes the best almond croissant 🥐! Love the atmosphere and come from across town for the baked goods.

Love going to Julian's bakery in the Hydrostone....plenty of tasty treats to choose from, latter's and numerous types of bread. Check out their quaint outdoor garden seating.

I stopped by for a few croissants to go. I used to visit TIBS cafe in Historic Properties; however, since they closed their Halifax location, I have been on the hunt for the next best croissant.

A friend of mine suggested I try Julien's in the Hydrostone - so off I went. Upon arrival, I was informed that the delivery order of bread does not arrive on Monday: therefore, 1 day old items were left for sale. I wasn't too keen on the idea of purchasing items labelled as "old", however, the bakery employee ensured that the "1 day old items" taste just as good as freshly baked (with the bonus of a 20% discount). I ended up purchasing a loaf of bread and three croissants to go.

When I arrived home, I plated two of the almond croissants and was very, very disappointed. The croissants were stale, soggy, slimy and squishy in texture - similar to grocery store croissants you can purchase in bulk. They remained uneaten. Based on this experience, I do not think I would return again.

The loaf of bread was passible.

Forget starbucks - this is *the* place to stop for coffee and amazing pastries. Samosas are fantastic. Croissants are wow. They sell full home-baked bread loaves. Hours are a bit short but working-day and Saturday I make an effort to go in.

The best bread in Halifax. If you live in the GTA or in Montreal it is fairly easy to find good continental European style bread, but in Halifax it is a challenge. Julien's is the only place with which I am fully satisfied so far. I particularly recommend the Levain, a large loaf of which (approx. 830g) costs $4.75 as of January 2011, a much better deal than worse bread elsewhere in Halifax. It is a very nice French style bread made from white and wholegrain sourdough that has a wonderful crispy crust yet is nice and soft on the inside. I can also recommend their Winnipeg Rye.

Fortunately they don't ask you whether you want to have their bread sliced. Unfortunately though they give you their bread in plastic bags. This is particularly amazing since they store their bread in-store without any wrapping, i.e. they know that plastic bags destroy the crust, yet they still use plastic bags for their customers. Paper bags as used in Europe would be a lot better for the bread AND for the environment. I always open up the plastic bag for transport and take the bread out of the bag immediately when I get home and then put it in my bread box so as to preserve the wonderful crust.

For some reason I don't like to buy Julien's bread at Pete's Frootique. Pete's usually carried a rather small (and seemingly random) subset of Julien's breads, and the bread is always worse (softer) than when you buy it from Julien's directly. Probably related to storage and wrapping (see above) than freshness per se.

Julien's also sells various sweet bakeries and cakes, but all of those are rather expensive (and I find the cakes disappointing). The one thing I do like are their almond croissants. They are huge and a bit too moist, but have a wonderful taste.

You can also sit down at Julien's (they probably have six or eight tables or so) but I really use it as a bakery rather than as a café. They are closed on Mondays.

Overall I am very glad that Julien's exists. Without it I would probably have to bake all of my bread myself. Thank you for offering great bread at decent prices in Halifax!

I typically enjoy their specialty coffee but I ordered their mochaccino and was disappointed. Steamed chocolate milk with some espresso seemed like a shortcut and the result was sickly sweet.

Not the best bread. I voted "I don't like it" but that' not entirely true. It's a nice spot, the pastries I've tried are pretty good. I have not tried all their breads - but the one's I have tried are not great. Pick up a loaf of their whole wheat and it is light for the size of the loaf - the bread is just fluff inside - will not cut nicely to make a sandwich.

We'd all love for our cities to have a Pierre Hermé or a Thomas Haas. Well, if you look hard enough, pretty much every city has someone (probably from Europe) who has opened a bakery, and is putting their passion into pastry. Didier Julien and his family
