Review Athens Restaurant - Halifax

It's a wonderful place to go. I always have the stuffed chicken and my husband usually has something different. Just love the desserts and the server we had last night was outstanding. What a lovely young girl. We have gone to alot of different and much more expensive restaurants in this city and I must say the food here tops them all . Keep up the good work. We'll be back!

Very welcoming atmosphere, super friendly staff and delicious authentic greek food! I wish I was living in Halifax to have a meal here every week! By the way, their potato nachos is HUGE! Just the nachos alone is enough for two! Try it... Moussakka was good as well.

Neat and clean with ample space and many tables. Customer service is outstanding and we had a very pleasant experience. The food: mouthwatering and greek food at its best. Well marinated and well served. We had shrimps and chicken souvlaki and both were so delicious. They have a daily special too so it is definitely a restaurant to try if you are into greek food.

Wow, I had a killer burger here. My friends and I randomly picked this place and were not disappointed. While eating we talked about our favourite desserts, which included milkshakes. Our waitress overheard and mentioned they had some for dessert, it really made our day. :)

I’ve came here for a couple times. Always love their brunch! I was their steak and eggs’ fan but after pandemic they took it out from their menu. Today I got their the biggy brunch, which had sausages, ham and bacon with 3 eggs, potatoes and toast. Super tasty! The server was very friendly and patient as well! Love them! Definitely will go back again!

Great restaurant that has a long track record of great food and service! Very extensive and great menu. Wonderful friendly staff. Has a real family vibe! I especially enjoy the variety of Eggs Benedict. Great breakfast specials and an all you can eat buffet for brunch on the weekend.

The best Greek food in Halifax! Service, atmosphere, cleanliness all way above average. Food is delicious and a great selection of Greek favorites to entice any palate. Portions are big as expected from a good Greek restaurant. Bring your appetite as you will need it. Everything we had was good. My wife loved their lightly battered Calamaris which were perfectly seasoned. She had the Moussaka as her main which was good but was a bit too acidic. I tried their Classic Lamb Souvlakia Dinner which was HUGE and loaded with with lamb. I have to mention that their salads are fresh and delicious we tried both the Greek salad and the Ceasar and both were so refreshing and the best part is that it was unlimited. We were so stuffed by the end of it we had no room for dessert. Highly recommend this place it will have you shouting OPA!

This place has the BEST French toast I've ever had. My boyfriend gets the skillets and you get a lot of food for what you pay.

Food was delicious, the person who served us was very nice and attentive. The place looked clean too.

They have a great menu that covers all the important bases. The beer list is local and they have excellent nachos. Some of the best in town. It's a comfortable spot to meet friends and enjoy good food. They have one of the only breakfast buffets on the peninsula and it's definitely worth going. It's fresh, hot, and an awesome price.

Great family run restaurant. Very customer focused. Both eat-in and take out for is consistently well-prepared. In-house service has always been great. For take out, the owners try hard to use organic and recyclable containers.

Absolutely delicious! Came here yesterday to order some liver and fish. Was so well prepared!!! The server that was assisting us was great! And definitely who ever the cook(s) were did a fantastic job!! :)

Cozy atmosphere, delicious food and friendly hosts..

Brother had the desert . It looks interesting. I had the lighter fare version of haddock and chips while he had the calamari. Both are reasonable. The restaurant has been around for quite a while. Staff was friendly. Portion is good for the affordable prices.

Great food and very cozy. The dips are amazing. My favourite is the Kopanisti. Their pita bread is so fresh, and their desserts are great. Food gets dished out fairly quickly, even when it's busy, and the staff is very friendly. Highly recommend!

The Brunch buffet is so good I am considering joining a gym. Monday to Friday; Gym. Saturday and Sunday; Athens Brunch buffet! The gym is my training for my soon to be professional buffet eater career. Athens will be my home rink. This place is not recommended for those who don’t want to become buffet addicts. If you have other commitments during buffet hours, stay away or those commitments will get neglected. If you think your spouse is cheating on the weekends, check the buffet first, they are probably there. Does your neighbor always look happy on Saturday and Sunday afternoons? They’ve probably been to the buffet. Want a good nap? Go to the buffet first. Awkward on dates? Go to the buffet, no talking will happen beyond talking about the great buffet! That’s an easy topic. On death row and get a last meal request? Go to the buffet... ok maybe that’s too much, but seriously, go to the buffet!

Athens is my go to brunch place, and everyone I have brought has fallen in love too. Never a disappointed group member. You get so much food, for a low cost. Great service. And some fun options. The home fries always have a little sprinkle of seasoning salt on them, and are perfectly crispy. � Athens is worth trying.

Service was awesome , food was amazing. Cooked to perfection. I would recommend this place to anyone. Endless Salad, scallops were cooked to perfection. I will definitely visit again soon.

I spent $70 for 2 lamb dinners & got a soggy salad and microwaved food with 1/3 cup of dry rice plus got three desserts they have no taste you can tell they use cheap ingredients. It doesn't matter what time you should get there the food should always be fresh. Definitely not worth your money and I would never recommend this to family or friends.

I just saw on a news clip that you had a lady come in and eat and then leave without paying. I am sorry that happened, but what disappoints me most is that you made the server pay for her meal?!?!?! A $65 meal?!?!?! If the server is making $10/hour (that is a guess as I have no idea), that’s a 6 hour shift!!! That’s a lot!!! This business practice has made me not want to visit your restaurant... sorry... my mother owned a restaurant for years and never did this to an employee... you probably throw out that much cost in food in a week or two anyways... �

We had breakfast their yesterday and it was delicious! The service was excellent too! Thanks for the best breakfast in the city!

I had an amazing meal at Athens today, I got the pastitsio and my partner had the stuffed chicken... soooo good. The owner was amazing and had contacted me personally after I had had a not so great encounter with a waiter maybe just having an off day. It happens in the restaurant business, or any business, but the way he went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied and had a great experience to make up for a not so great one is why it is so important to support out local eating jewels like Athens over aome chain restaurant any day! Thank you again...amazing food, amazing service.

Always a great experience. They even handled a huge group without a blink. Definitely an amazing place for any occasion.

Tonight was my first time at Athens, it was one of my friends birthday and most of us order the souvlaki dinner. It comes with a choice of skewers and I asked our server which one was most popular, she recommended chicken or pork. I ordered the pork skewer. My pork skewer was dry, the greek salad was stale. Our server never came back to check on us to see how the food was. When she finally did, the birthday girl wanted another drink and dessert. After deciding on a long island iced tea to drink, our server said she didn't know how to make it and it would take longer, so basically she made up excuses so my friend would change her mind. A long island iced tea isn't all that hard to make... I asked her to pack up the rest of my dinner Drinks and dessert came, I ordered a coconut cream pie to split with my friend, the pie was okay, rather bland. Again, the server didn't come back to see how we were doing. I had asked her to pack up the rest of my dinner that had a pork skewer and potatoes but when she came back the only thing in the container was the pork skewer and she threw the rest out.. When it was time for the bills, she messed up 2 of my friends bills and I had to tell her that I ordered a pop that wasn't put on my bill. As I paid my bill, I left her what I thought was a reasonable tip for what I got for service. My other friends left her 15%-20% but they were not thanked or anything either. When we were leaving she didn't thank us for coming in, didn't say happy birthday to my friend. The food was okay and the service definitely lacked. I certainly would not be going back as my first experience was anything but the 4 stars it gets on average.

One of the best places to eat in Halifax! Great breakfast (tea or coffee included with it which is actually hard to find around here) and huge variety for lunch and supper. Never once been disappointed in 5 years!

KOODOs to ATHENS: Just read a CTV News article about this restaurant and a waitress having to cover a $65 eat and run tab. KOODOs to Athens, I talked to them via FB Message and they informed me the waitress was reimbured the following day for the cost of the Eat and Run order.

Went there tonight...my husband found what appeared to be a piece of metal in his rice pudding..our server Nora didn't seem to be bothered by this..she just said sorry and no concern that he may have injured his mouth etc..we also were concerned that the batch of pudding that he had may have more pieces potentially injuring future guests..but she was like whatever and walked away..it's too bad because the food was great..

First time there and had breakfast. Good service, great coffee.

Excellent food and service on time very nice people. I recommend it to anyone who likes Mediterranean/Greek cusine.

Best rice pudding in town. Always get the special, it's a good deal and you can't go wrong with their food.
