I don't often give five stars across the board, but Tako Sushi is worthy. I've eaten a lot of sushi in Japan and Korea and the sushi here is on par!
Large menu, so it wasn't easy to make a decision. I finally chose the assorted maki [number 6 under Sushi Combo]. What a delight! The ingredients were fresh and the flavours were spot-on. The miso soup was lovely, too [rich flavours].
The staff was friendly, and although busy, the service was quick. The prep area reminded me of a restaurant you would find in Japan.
My only suggestion is better chopsticks, please. I've been eating with chopsticks for 20-plus years and the wooden ones wrapped in paper are truly awful!

Very cozy restaurant, kind staff, and great food.
We ordered the torikatsu ramen (bottom) and tonkotsu ramen (top), along with katsu and gyoza (middle right and left, respectively). All were excellent!
The restaurant has a very warm and comfortable aesthetic, and it's nice being able to see where the sushi chefs are working.
As an aside, we've been here a few times and have ordered sushi here - their sushi is also great!

It was our first trip to Halifax and the first Japanese restaurant we visited. Tako Sushi & Ramen is a friendly place!
We got a Green Dragon & Ninja roll and 2 types of Ramen: Seafood & Hokkaido. It was awesome! Hokkaido ramen recommend for all who are fans of spicy food! Seafood ramen (scallops, shrimps, calamari ) just 🧡
The dish was so big; we were unable to finish it 😊
The sushi was delicious and super fresh!
I highly recommend trying this place out!

The sushi you must try in Halifax. This was the best Japanese food we had during our trip to the east. We used to have a nice sushi dinner in St. John's which I thought should be the best but obviously I was wrong. You shouldn't miss sashimi, unagi pizza as well as the hidden menu. Ramen was also good and kids loved so much.

What a terrific experience....I arrived when they were just opening, the Chef was taking time to clean the glass coolers that house the fish .... he was being really mindful, a good thing to witness. The service was attentive. Its a welcoming space with tables and booths and the restaurant was filling up with a number of Asians...also a good sign. I ordered Tuna Tatami and the tempura vegetables...both were delicious. This restaurant deserves a return visit ....I highly recommend it.

What a wonderful little spot! The service was excellent and the sushi was even better. Everything we had was prepared with care, very tasty, and so fresh tasting. Presentation was top notch. Couldn't have asked for better.

I’ve had a lot of sushi around Halifax. This is by far the best quality and most delicious sushi I’ve had so far. The sapori role and umi role was incredible. It’s not a fancy place but if you’re looking for some delicious sushi to take out and dine in, def a must go

This is our all time favourite Japanese restaurant! After coming back from Japan and wanting to find ramen locally, this was the only place that tasted just like it did in Tokyo! The sushi is incredible with gorgeous presentation and I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for an excellent experience!

They were very kind about the medical diet I am on and provided just soup broth. It was so good. I also loved eating here before my health declined.
Editing to add that tako has been consistently kind and understanding about my medical diet which prevents me from eating solid food. I've ordered every other week for the past few months and they have been great.

Probably a contender for the best sushi in Halifax! The Ramen not so much! The sushi is to die for! We order a small selection of sushi that included a cucumber wrapped sushi, a torched tuna sushi the Paris roll and the New York roll. All were fantastic! The cucumber wrapped gives you a nice crispy and refreshing taste. Now, let’s talk about the ramen, the broth needs to be richer in flavour and the egg was not marinated enough to give you that true ramen taste as well as it was over cooked. The egg is supposed to be a little runny. Noodles in the ramen were good, almost taste like they are made fresh from scratch, meaning they buy good quality ingredients.
Overall I give it a 4/5 because of the ramen, otherwise if they’d only focus on sushi it be a 5/5

This was my first experience with North American sushi and I was pleasantly surprised. This unassuming store is situated in a tiny mini mall in an otherwise residential neighborhood but it is by far the best sushi in town on the basis of taste, portion size, presentation and freshness. I’d never had cream cheese, tempura, or sauces added to the sushi before but I was very happy with the taste and the texture and I highly recommend trying it since it is quite different from traditional sushi. Great experience and my friend picked up the bill so it was even better. Thank you Tako Sushi and Ramen.

Exceptional sushi with a broad menu. Clean venue with an ok ambiance. The staff are friendly, though the female boss was curt (admittedly they were slammed). The quality of the sushi is some of the best we've had outside Hawaii, and on the strength of the food alone they earn 5 stars.

I have gone to Tako a few times now and always had a good experience, but last Monday was definitely the best. The food was great, as usual, but our server (sorry, I didn't get her name), was just so lovely, helpful and friendly. By far my favourite sushi place around HRM.

We have been going to Taco Sushi since it opened . The owners and the staff now treat us like family! The sushi is the best we have ever had. Always fresh and beautifully presented to us by prompt , friendly staff. We love you Taco Sushi!!!!😀

The best sushi and Japanese food ever! The deluxe dragon roll is beyond amazing and the sushi pizza I've had a few times is artful and delicious simultaneously. Everything is so fresh and the wait staff is incredible with suggestions and efficiency. I'd recommend this place to anyone.

Tonight was our first time to Tako sushi and it was excellent! The sushi was probably the best I've ever eaten in Halifax, service was top notch ! Kevin the chef walked around talking to people which was nice to see, someone taking pride in their work. My new favourite place in Halifax, will definitely be back!

I come here often with my boyfriend and we looove the ramen. Its probably the best in halifax. I've also tried the karaage which is super delicious. My parents ordered a sushi platter for my going away party last night (i'm going to japan!) and everything was so delicious. Thanks for helping make the party special!
