Started our day having breakfast here eggs,home fries back bacon and toast very reasonably priced and very good
Tonight due to rain we stayed in for dinner we both had the seafood chowder was amazing ( a must have again before vacation is over) pan seared haddock and chicken linguini
to our delight everything was exceptional our server Aidon was such a nice young man and a pleasure to speak with. Well the seafood chowder was too good to pass up so tonight we both had the chowder again!! That was all we needed to satisfy and of course a little chat with our server Sophie what a lovely young lady

I went here a couple weekends ago, and was served by the bartender, leslie, she was great, very friendly. When I asked what she would recommend, she suggested the tacos and they were very good. I would definitely go back there. Great service and atmosphere!

I hosted a reunion for an academic group at Tempo and I can't say enough good things about the staff. From the start they were excellent communicators and answered all of my questions. Due to a miscommunication, the reunion was held on the wrong night but everyone at Tempo was so gracious and understanding and they were able to host the reunion on what was meant to be the original date. The food and beverage supervisor, Aidon, was super helpful and flexible, the sous chef, Gillian, was so kind to me when I came to the restaurant to explain what happened, and the two girls that were working the night of the reunion (I'm sorry for not getting your names), were absolute angels. If you need to host a gathering in Halifax, Tempo is a great option.

We ate here recently while staying at the Barrington. We each had the grab and go deal. It comes with a breakfast sandwich, hash browns and a drink. It was hot, fresh and tasted good. The service was terrific too. Very convenient and a great deal.

My first visit in a long time where I don't work in downtown Halifax anymore. Had the Thai chicken wrap with the house salad on the side. Beautiful presentation and it was delicious! Our waitress was great - super helpful and friendly.

We stayed at the Barrington Hotel before and during the storms. the service was good for take out. We had the breakfast special and starbucks coffee a couple of times the week we were there and it was good value of the money. During the storm we has ordered a fish and it chips - unfrtunately it was too greasy and I could not eat it. The next night we decided to have dinner at the hotel since it was almost a lock down situation and it ended up they did not have most items on the menu and understandable die to the circumstances. The food was mediocre, what I did order and my sister ordered a chowder and it did not sit well in her stomach. It was disappointing but we knew the staff were pulling double shifts becasue i saw them at breakfast and then at dinner time.

My sister and I had breakfast there. I had the oatmeal with maple cream and rhubarb as well as some pan fried potatoes. They were very tasty. My sister enjoyed what she had. They have a variety of gluten-free treats as well. The oat cakes were delicious. I’d give them five stars but their cappuccino machine was broken for two days and they close way too early for a restaurant attached to a hotel.

Fantastic service - thanks Lisa - with a great recommendation for the lunch special. The chicken tacos and house salad sounded like a safe choice - but the flavours were much more than expected. Definitely a great place for a light bite.

I came here when hurricane dorian landed Halifax. The whole city shut down but this is the only restaurant open within waterfront area to all those suffered from dorian and cannot go home. The next morning the restaurant has almost used up its supplies from previous night; they cancelled regular menu but create a limited edition of hurricane breakfast menu so everyone can enjoy their peaceful morning after hurricane.

Not your average hotel restaurant! Great menu, generous portions, excellent service, and the local is perfect for working lunches with colleagues or clients. The turkey dinner poutine was fantastic!

I'm glad after two years (covid) the full service restaurant has reopened. I like the atmosphere here as it's pretty big, with basic comfortable tables & booths, lots of natural lighting. Mostly new staff, all friendly and attentive. I had the avocado toast last week, which was simple and good. I can't finish the carafe of coffee that they bring, but some people would love that they'd definitely get their caffeine fix for the morning. Parking validated if you use the hotel lot. I'll be back here regularly.
Aug 2023: 7am breakfast on a sunny Thursday. We were probably the first customers of the day and remained only one of two tables taken the entire time, which made it very relaxing. Chatty, friendly server. I tried the breakfast sandwich, which is a pretty standard one on toast with lettuce, tomato, bacon, cheese (?), and a sauce that I can't recall, so may just be mayo. Nothing exciting, but nothing wrong with it in any way. Frozen seasoned home fries make the meal itself filling. My friend had the basic breakfast and loves his eggs almost burnt. This place made them to his liking, which is hard for many places to achieve for some reason.

I really used to love Tempo but ever since they changed the menu I feel like the entire place has changed (again).
Their steak used to be great, their burgers used to be good, and the brisket sandwich used to be the best thing on the old menu.
I ordered medium well and received a dry overcooked piece of meat instead. Totally unimpressed and will not be giving a fourth chance.

The food was delicious... the waitress was friendly and attentive, without being overbearing. We really enjoyed our meal. The lobster was great, and the peanut butter cheesecake was divine! Definitely worth a return visit!

Great menu, great service, but all appetizers have seafood which wasn’t great for me as I can’t eat seafood. Mac and cheese was amazing though and the house wine that was on happy hour was lovely. And again, great great service :)

Here is why i gave 2 stars despite the food being awesome..
When i paid and didn't leave a bigger tip the server got all pissy and made very loud and rude comments about the amount of money i did leave as a tip, he even went as far as to give me stick eye as we were leaving through the doors for the hotel..
That one prick of a server has left such a bad taste in my mouth that i will never be back there to eat again.

Tempo is my favourite spot to eat when in Halifax. From breakfast to supper the food never disappoints.
Also Lisa and Arden are the best waitstaff I've ever experienced.

Mother Nature did not cooperate with heavy rain during the parade of lights, but Tempo and staff certainly did cooperate and made us feel so welcome when we went inside to take a break from the weather and have supper. Awesome staff and food. First time at Tempo and looking forward to another wonderful meal there. We live in Fort McMurray, AB and visiting family in Halifax. Thanks Tempo & staff. �

Good little place for breakfast before work. The bathroom (in the hotel) is a bit of a pain but not enough to detract from good food and service.

I came to Tempo for my birthday last year and had an incredible experience. Not having visited Halifax for almost a year since, I came back hoping it wasn't just the "birthday experience" that made it great, but the restaurant itself. I was not disappointed. For a second time, I had a fantastic experience with even better friends and family. Thank you Tempo for creating a warm, cozy, inviting atmosphere at a very reasonable price.
