My mom and I came in for brunch, and were super pleased with everything: from the staff, to the quality of our food, the speed of service, overall amazing. We got the focaccia french toast and the diner's breakfast. Definitely would recommend to anyone!!
My many experiences at Black Sheep have been positive and delicious. Their recent burger promo is the best food deal on offer in Halifax. These guys know how to bring the bodies in with an incredibly delicious burger.
Their cocktails are some of the best of the city. The smell of smoked rosemary fills this place every time an Islander is ordered -- and that's pretty often. It's a great drink and I'd recommend it to everyone, whether you're a cocktail aficionado or a newbie.
Aaaaand I haven't even mentioned PINT BY NUMBERS: the best local beer at an unreal price. Propellor pints anybody? Meet ya at 4.
The menu has food I’d never cook at home, the cocktails are cleverly named and f*cking delicious. From food to service (Chloe is a pure delight) and through to decor (rather enjoy the light wood/black walls) - I really like this little spot. I find myself returning often � Black Sheep is uniquely special.
Care always translates from the top down, and the guys who run this place clearly care. Excellent small plates. Sweet, professional staff. Adventurous cocktails. Comfy setting. And finally, a great brunch downtown.
Excellent service! I had an abnormal dietary request and the staff in my mind went above and beyond to meet it for me. I was really impressed. All three of us enjoyed our lunch and the prices are hard to beat for the portions. Highly recommend.

The servers are also so excellent and do not helicopter around or interrupt a conversation to simply refill water. Love this place a lot- and hope to see more advertising towards the dinner menu in future !

Stopped on a lark...I am a black sheep who was treated with great service and the absolute best grilled cheese and homemade tomato soup to die for. Just super...I even bought the tee shirt!
The food was amazing. Our server Chloe was the sweetest. What a gem her employers have in her! Couldn't help but think that a couple of propane heaters would heat up the deck outside to give extra seating and an extended season.
Fried chicken sandwich I had today was the best fried chicken I've ever tasted. Had to wait awhile for food but we weren't in a hurry and it was well worth the wait.
Four of us gals visited the Black Sheep Restaurant today - we had the most delicious food, reasonably priced, and fantastic service. They offer a nice variety of Brunch Food Items, as well there is an evening menu and also are licensed.. When each of our food items arrived on the table we were like 'wow', 'ohhh', yep - it is that good. Don't hesitate to visit this restaurant.
Tourist review: This was a great experience, we thoroughly enjoyed the environment and the food. The best dish by far was the lobster ravioli, perhaps the best I've had. I highly recommend this plate to anyone. I also enjoyed my latte which was so surprising considering this isn't a coffee forward establishment. Altogether the ambiance was relaxing and felt so serene, the delicious meal was the cherry on top.
I got into Halifax from Charlottetown late on a Sunday evening, so there weren't very many places open. I ended up going to the Black Sheep and it was well worth it. I had the Bouillabasse and 2 beers. It was so tasty. I can't get that kind of fresh seafood dish in Edmonton. Highly recommend.
Highly recommend the calamari, lobster ravioli, and scallop fettuccine. For dessert, the molten brownie was delicious. Great service and intimate atmosphere.
The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly, we brought our little one on a date night with us the space was and atmosphere was cozy and speak easy-ish, the dim lighting made the dining experience intimate but still upheld a night life feel. The portion and food quality was certainly worth its price-point with the steak and fries, lots of flavour. We were also given free fudge at the end of the evening. My only after thought was that the fries could use a little less salt. Overall a great dish and experience. (The squid ink aioli was quite cool)
We stopped in without a reservation and were welcomed nicely. The waiter was friendly and diligent. We started with the battered cauliflower and it was so lightly battered and tasty. Foe my main I had the steak and potatoes which were cooked to perfection. They had a new drink on their menu tonight called my cheating heart or your cheating heart. Sooooo good. For desert I have the cheesecake. I highly recommend!!!!
Only had breakfast option which was the Diner Breakfast and it’s a little hard not to enjoy breakfast. The bread was great and the lavender wild blueberry jam was nice although not sure if that was in house. Salad was good and fresh and had a little spicy kick to it that was nice contrast. Latte was okay. Brisket Eggs Benny was also ordered but not photographed.
They have a really interesting option for breakfast such as Korean and Indian options so if you are with a group with varied interests this place would work.
This place is beautiful. The ambiance is cozy, the food is excellent, the prices are affordable. The beer was fresh and tasteful. The staff were super nice and friendly. Thanks for the amazing experience!
Okay - this place has the best fries I've ever had.
My partner and I stopped in for just a drink and snack, I got the caeser which was so good. They put steak seasoning on the rim which I thought was genius. Also the pickled veg that comes with the drink is so delicious, I wish I had a whole bowl of them. The fries with the black aioli were SO GOOD. I wish we had more time to go back here and get more food, the vibe and decor we're super cool.
Beef tartare is always my go to! We had dine around menu this time, tried something different than usual. Fries are crispy and very flavourful. Won’t mind more salt and some pepper for cod but still very tasty. My bf got oatmeal cake and he said it’s the best dessert he got from a restaurant. Pumpkin ice cream on it is also super delicious! 10/10!

Not gonna lie, black sheep is my favourite restaurant now. We were here for my friends Jack and Jill party. I love the summer menu. We got tuna tartare and pakora burger and they were delicious. Not a huge fan of bibimbap because I don’t like sticky rice but the flavour is great.
Very much enjoyed Sunday brunch at Black Sheep. This was my first time at their new location and it’s such a lovely space. Besides the ambiance, the food was amazing. My girl had the Diner Breakfast and I had the Brisket Benny and we we’re both very happy with our choices. We both got Pink Grapefruit mimosas and we shared dessert as well. The tiramisu is probably the best I’ve ever had but the star of the whole experience had to be the pistachio cake. My mouth is watering thinking about it. It consisted of a delicious cake filled with blueberry compote, lemon curd on the plate and a pavlova (meringue). Both desserts were amazing but the pistachio cake just had so many different elements that it was nice to have the variety of flavour throughout the dish. I look forward to our next brunch at Black Sheep. ❤️

Innovative, say squid ink breadcrumbs on the lobster ravioli etc. I also had fish cake it’s made of smoked haddock only. I prefer “The Bicycle Thief”‘s fish cake better, which incorporated 3 types of fish, richer.

There was a nice outdoor patio deck that was beautifully decorated. I ordered mussels with green curry. I thought it was pretty good except the curry was a bit salty and the portion was small.
The BEST lobster we have ever had. The steak was perfectly cooked, well seasoned and melt in your mouth. Vegetables were cooked just enough to be tender on the outside but still retain their fresh crunch. Service and overall atmosphere was also amazing. 10/10
Was craving a new brunch spot and I found it. I will preface this by saying it is not pub style, this is a classy place and offers a 5 star experience. The menu is unique and the food n drinks are gourmet. I got the banana bread french toast and my Brother got the regular style breakfast. The service is impeccable from the front of the house right to the back. Extremely accommodating. It is located inside the Brewery Market on Lower Water so was hustling n bustling with activity this Saturday. I cannot recommend this place enough and will def. be back to try the fish cakes next. Till then Black sheep.

Dropped in while strolling around the water front. I decided to order the grilled cheese and tomato soup. It was amazing! Service was also outstanding.
Fantastic food with a great ambiance and wonderful service. I went with some family member for dinner during the Holidays and we all had a great experience. This would be particularly great for a date night in town.
We stopped in here for dinner on the last day of our trip to NS and it was a perfect send off, the server was so kind and helpful, the atmosphere was very cool, and the food was just amazing. We ordered the beef burger and the lobster ravioli, and for dessert the tiramisu. The dessert was really good I think one of if not the best tiramisu I’ve ever had in my life, no exaggeration. If we ever go back to Halifax we will have to visit again.
