So we decided to try this place after several years of saying we were going to try it. My first impression when we looked at the menu was kind of pricey. That didn't last long when we seen the server coming with the plates, 17 for a chicken finger platter which I thought was kind of high and 16 for a chicken sandwich platter, now I must say my opinion quickly changed. We could have split either meal and still left full. My wife said it was the best chicken sandwich she had ever eaten. The chicken fingers were fantastic as they make them in store and they do an excellent job. We are already talking about going back soon. One thing I will say is we arrived around 6 and the restaurant was booked until eight, we lucked out and managed to arrive just as two people were leaving the outside patio. They seat as available outside. So you may want to book just to save yourself from disappointment. I wish I hade taken photos of the plates but it looked so good we dive right in. Five stars for sure. Enjoy you will not be disappointed.
We visited Halifax this weekend and the food here was for sure the best food I have ever eaten at a restaurant. I had the baton rouge burger with sweet potato fries, it was to die for! Very well cooked and prepped. Not only was the food amazing, the service was as well. Would like to thank our waiter Erin for being so polite and welcoming. What a great experience, would highly recommend!
Fantastic atmosphere, our server, Cora was amazing, so accommodating,knowledgeable and when she didn't know she went and found the answer... The ribs we all ordered were the best we ever tasted and the lobster stuffed mushrooms are a must order ! Definitely a must go to restaurant in Halifax, NS..... Thanks to everyone who made this a great night.
We went there last evening for our Anniversary. Food was amazing and our server Aaron was wonderful. We ate way too much! We have tried Amano, IL Mercato, Five Fisherman, and Moxie's in the past for our Anniversary dinner, and we both felt our best meal was last night at Baton Rouge. We will be back! Our new favorite place to eat!!
Visited here today... great atmosphere, great food, great service. Jason, Jess, and Aaron are spectacular! Jess makes a mean sangria (made with love). Jason suggested the best food to eat and it was incredible (great presentation). Aaron gave us the best table in the house. 10/10 �
This evening my girlfriend and I went to baton rouge for the first time, everything from start to finish was excellent. Our food was amazing and our server was attentive and very helpful making recommendations, we can't recall her name (tall and blonde hair) but she was lovely! Will recommend to friends and family for sure!
This was our first visit!! Amazing service by Sandi our server. It was really busy and honestly our food was a long time before it was served. However well done Baton Rouge and Sandi because an hour and half didn’t matter because you guys did it right!! Our meal was fantastic well worth the wait. We will be back for sure. 😊👍🏻
I was in on Saturday evening and had the Cajun blackened steak. The food, service, music and atmosphere was fantastic! The hostess was INCREDIBLY pleasant, friendly, helpful and just an all around joy (we all agreed she would make an excellent server as well). My steak was cooked perfectly and our server went above and beyond to help recommend a fun night out for my friends bachelorette :)

We were at Baton Rouge, last night, for my daughter’s 17th birthday. It was our 5th time and, like the previous 4 times, it was amazing. I was disappointed that the Cowboy steak was removed from the menu, so, I had to manage with a 16oz rib steak. �. Lobster stuffed mushrooms are a must. I was, only disappointed with the lobster chowder. It tasted great, but, was very thick. This is a must restaurant, if in Halifax. The manager let a read a history of the building, also, which was very interesting. I hope you try it and enjoy Baton Rouge as much as we do. Cheers.
One of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. The lobster tail and filet mignon with stuffed potato and veggies was flavoured to perfection and the steak would melt in your mouth! Can't wait to come again!
The service was number 1 and the food even better .... the staff were the most friendly I have ever seen in a restaurant. ....very courteous and very accommodating absolutely the best service I have ever received in a restaurant. ... definitely would go again !

Had dinner with my boyfriend and the service was well above expectation! Stayed for over two hours and never felt rushed by the staff in any way. The manager was so attentive to detail that he approached me once my lobster risotto had been served and insisted it be replaced as he felt it was not to the standard the restaurant held. Was treated to a gift certificate and free seafood linguini due to the problem. Have never experienced such a high standard and attention to detail. Have always loved the food and cozy atmosphere, can't wait to go back again!
Great time, sat at a table in the bar areas and Anja was a breath of fresh air. Loved it. Food was special also, Chicken mushroom risotto and the Cowboy Rib Steak.
I'm going to round up my rating, where I feel like it was more than 4.5, but the experience was too good to give it a 4. I felt the main dishes were fantastic, great portions and excellent flavor. There's a good variety of options, especially for its location. The atmosphere is very cozy and intimate, great for a date night. Service was good, not great, but still enjoyable. My .5 knock would be with pricing on appetizers and desserts.. which I felt was a bit high relative to the portion. But the quality and taste was fantastic, which influenced my round up.
Beautiful setting in an old building, however there is a smell of old musty water but that could have been because of how humid the weather was. Otherwise it's a fantastic place to enjoy a birthday dinner with your significant other. Appetizers of crab stuffed mushrooms and calamari are recommended. We both had the strip loin steak dinners with skillet mushrooms followed by a slice of absolutely delicious carrot cake. Would definitely recommend the Compass rose wine as it's a locally sourced winery. Over all a great experience at the old historic restaurant.
I had the Baton rouge burger (without lettus and tomato) which was quite good, the pricing is appropriate, not too high or of great value.
My friends had the club sandwich and sirloin steak.
I was given the opportunity to taste the steak and it was cooked perfectly at medium rare with a nice taste to it, however it was missing that extra flavour to really make it perfect.
This night came together rather last minute as we booked the table within two hours of our call. Thankfully, despite arriving half an hour early, we were seated relatively quickly without issue and the service was great.
I would definitely re-visit in the future and perhaps try something new to further develop my opinion of this restaurant.
A dozen of my colleagues and I had a lovely evening supper there. The beverages , food and service were all top notch! Richi was our server and he did a wonderful job with his service. I had the Calamari and the Lotus Bowl with Lobster. It was phenominal! I would 100% order it again. I order Calamari and make my own regularly at other restaurants, but this was the best I have ever had. 10 out of 10 for that dish, for sure! Every person loved their food !
Service was fast and friendly! Nice decor! Appetizers and Entrees were delicious (Tempura shrimp and salmon/loaded baked potato)
Loved this restaurant! The ambience was nice, the food was great, and the service was good too! Just wish there was more vegetables offered as I am a veggie lover when it comes to steak and potatoes lol but that's just preference. Still an overall great restaurant, and the steak was probably the most tender I've ever had.

For all the times I stay in Halifax and this is the first time here….shame on me. I promise to be better. Had a craving for steak and I can tell you, it was satisfied tonight! From the moment I walked in and was greeted and seated, I knew it was going to be a great dinner. My server Sara was amazing. She is on top of her game. Watched her run around serving the entire bar area drinks and food and not missing a beat. Lots of happy people enjoying the food and drinks. My steak…..okay so I do steak. I make a mean steak. Well so does Anthony! I wasn’t in the mood for the 14oz Ribeye so I asked for a cut of the Prime Rib to be grilled based on a recommendation from Sara. BOOM! Was so good. My Gin and Tonic was super tasty and made the way I love it. Cucumber with Hendricks and quality tonic. Highly recommend. I’ll be back!
So I was back and I met “Gen”. What a colourful addition to great meal. If you have the appetite for “Dinner and a Show” then please ask for Gen to host your meal. Ask her for the special “Gen and Tonic”.
Great place, food and staff. I Had the Louisiana Chicken Salad. Large and delicious. My server, Sarah, was amazing.
We just had our hockey Christmas dinner at the Halifax location. Our servers Sarah, Janessa, and Kiersten were absolutely amazing and attentive with our group of 60. The service and food were outstanding. Thank you so much for making our evening memorable. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Very friendly staff. They were very kind and speedy. You can tell there's a good staff environment based on all interactions I had seen. Food doesn't take too long at all. Only gave four stars for the food because of the tenders. It was like 70-80 percent bread. My fiance is a huge bread person and didn't really care for it. It was kind of like the carnival fried food bread, where it's a little hard and crispy. All of them are like that, so it's only 4 stars because of preference, they did nothing wrong. The potato soup is absolutely amazing. 20/10. They have pineapple juice and I saw that as a huge plus. It tasted amazing too. Their fries were so good. Almost like McDonald's fries, but imagine a homemade healthier version. The bathroom was down the stairs, which I loved. I liked it being separate from the eating areas. We sat at a table near the door, so every time it opened it was cold, but it wasn't terrible. Overall, the restaurant was very nice.
Saw this location when walking and decided to give it a try. They have quite a varied menu with multiple options including non seafood related.
I had them substitute some items so I could better manage my dietary restrictions and they were more than happy to accommodate that for me.
The food was tasty- but the side dish of scallops and shrimp I ordered was not. It was doused in pesto and it was too strong. However the chicken dish and tomato appy we shared was definitely worth it. Large portion of chicken provided which made me happy.
Service staff was very friendly and lovely to chat with.
The atmosphere was pretty nice, it was upscale but also had some sea vibes.
Not sure if you need a reservation to come normally but we didn’t and it went fine.
Would be okay to recommend but I personally would probably try somewhere else next time since I’ve already been here.
Server was amazing, polite preffesional and very approachable. The ribs were amazingly tender. I was not really a fan of the BBQ sauce but they were great. The fries were cold would be my only real complaint.
The club sandwich my partner had was extremely delicious.
Would go ahead for sure.. mostly because of our server being so great.
I want to thank you. Today I celebrated my birthday with my colleagues. All the food was very tasty, all the drinks were excellent, the service was excellent. The atmosphere is incredible. I highly recommend you all. Thanks for the birthday wishes. Your cake is the best I've had in Halifax. It was very nice. I will definitely come to you more often and invite friends.

Exceptional food, service, and energy. A little piece of nostalgia parked in the downtown core. Couldn't be happier with the experience. Great food, laughs and wine. Presentation, hosting and waitstaff were impeccable. Absolutely would return without reservation. Thank you for the wonderful experience and for catering to our requests :)

I Went back to Baton Rouge once again , this time for a Burger week burger , the "Diner Burger" , and it was FANTASTIC !
We Started off with some Cheddar Dip , which was a large serving size for 3 of us & Bavette Beef Bites which came out on a sizzling hot plate , both apps were delicious .
The burger arrived with a nice side of fries.
The bacon jam gave it a hint of sweetness that made it taste perfect matched with the other basic , but tasty toppings .
Sara , our waitress , was great ! She was very Friendly , service was on the ball , and she had great suggestions :)
I'm Sad the cheesecake was unavailable but hope to try it next time I'm in !
The Jalapeno Melt burger at Bâton Rouge is a must-try! The burger is perfectly cooked and the combination of jalapeno and melted cheese gives it a delicious kick. Overall, Bâton Rouge is a fantastic restaurant with great food and service. Highly recommended!
