Review The Coastal Cafe - Halifax

My friends and I went there for brunch on a Sunday. There was about a 45 min wait, but the food was definitely worth it! I ordered the Durty Bird, and it was excellent. Portion size was generous, and the coffee was hot and tasty. I’d definitely go back; perhaps a little earlier in the day to avoid the long wait, but once we were seated, the food arrived fairly quickly!

So good to be true. Very lovely little joint for the best breakfast you can have in Halifax area. It is very busy on weekends so expect longer waiting time until they find a place for you. Food is incredible and the customer service is a top notch. I definitely recommend it.

Wow such an awesome brunch! A must! Got the Huevos Rancheros which was EXCELLENT! My partner got the Elvis which was also super tasty. Make sure you get there right when they open to avoid waiting. There's <10 tables inside and the wait list fills up quickly!

I love they have 3 eggs option and they serve fast. I wanted to give 5 but there was really a man speaks so loud even though he was two tables away. It is small cafe and it is your luck to have peaceful time in the cafe. I heard his ex-girlfriend's life. Most times I can ignore (that is one of benefit of second lanague english speaker), but he was way to loud to ignore.

Was on a road trip with family to the east coast from Toronto and was looking up a good breakfast place to try out. Saw great reviews on this small cute cafe so decided to check it out even though many reviews mentioned the line ups are long and that it’s very hard to go with a big group. There was 6 of us and we were not picky with our seating arrangement. We were seated within 30 mins or so on a weekday around 9:30am. 2 of us sat at a table for 2 and the rest of us sat close by on high chairs by the front window. They really know how to quickly get people in and out without making you feel rushed. They have a system where they take your order before getting seated to reduce the wait time on your food once seated. We ordered coffee too, which we got right away while waiting. Their coffee was really good coffee and came with free refills. The system they have works great and didn’t compromise on the quality of the meal as it still came out hot. I got The Heidi which was a poached egg on smoked salmon with dill pickled red onion on a toasted bagel. It was amazing. If I lived in the area I would totally be a regular here. Service was fast and great, food was delicious and the coffee was tasty! Totally worth the wait and I highly recommend you give it a try!

My favourite brunch spot in Halifax. In fact I haven’t found many like it outside of Halifax either. I make sure to eat here at least once every time I’m visiting. There are a few staples on the menu (Durty Burd, Huevos Rancheros, The Elvis, etc) but are also rotating some new and innovative ideas through the other menu slots. Overall, I’ve never been disappointed with anything I’ve gotten!

Amazing breakfast/ brunch option. The best brunch sandwich I have ever had !! It's a very small place so you will be waiting but it's worth it. The coffee is also fantastic. You order at the counter ahead of time. I love the dirty bird

BEST BRUNCH CAFE in Halifax !!! The Durty burd and Los Huevos Rancheros are my favourite meals. They’re always busy and packed with people but it is definitely worthy to wait it for. I absolutely recommend if you’re looking for the breakfast or brunch.

Food is excellent service is good considering how busy they are. If you are in a rush don't go here cause the line on the weekends is crazy. The only things I noticed is that some of the people that came later than us were being served first, don't know if its because of what we ordered. Also it is so busy that there is not much room to move and people waiting to be sited are standing all over the place. By the way, not a kid friendly place but the servers do what they can to accommodate.

Calm little spot on Robie street. Gets busy really quickly Good selections of meals I had Les œufs Automne and was happily surprised. Service is great. People are lovely. Will definitely come back again.

Really great food! The way the waitlist is set up is really quite interesting and made it a really unique experience. Once seated the food came quick. Will definitely go again when back in town.

I had amazing brunch Today!!!! The chicken which they have is to die for:) If you guys read this review, don’t waste your time!! Must go there!!!!

The Durty Burd is totally out of this world! Can't wait to try other delicacies. Be prepared to stand in a queue for a long time though!

The food and service were excellent. While the menu was small they had a lot to offer for almost any dietary restriction. If you're looking for a place to eat breakfast or lunch, this is the place to go.

Amazing place for breakfast/brunch. Small, intimate, and the food is to die for. If there isn't a table ready, head over to the counter to get on the wait list - It's worth the wait, promise. I had the Huevos Rancheros and oh..my... that mole crema is incredible. The staff were even nice enough to let me take a little extra home with me! A Halifax gem. Go there.

Amazing servers and pretty awesome dishes. Swift service despite a busy room. Not sure if they take reservations, but they will put you on a waiting list during their busier times. One of the best brunches we've found in the HRM. Try em out for sure.

If you have to wait, it is certainly worth it. This time I went alone so was able to get a window bar-stool quickly. But it is almost a shame to not share it with someone.

What a find this place was. Amazing food and amazing service. I only wish I lived in Halifax so I could eat there more often. Their menu is unique and their line up/seating system is crazy efficient. I don't know how they do it!

The food and service was impeccable. Such a chill comfortable vibe and service was on point. My sister loved her eggs Benny so much she kept her leftovers for the entire drive back to Quebec City.

Absolutely superb. I stopped in today for a quick breakfast. The staff were incredibly friendly, the food was delivered extremely quickly, and the meal itself was both well presented and extremely tasty. I will be going back as soon as later this week!

Delicious and fresh. Not enough good things to say about the food and staff, place could use more room and the hours are slightly tricky but amazing.

I just moved to Nova Scotia 6 weeks ago and have tried a few coffee shops around Halifax. I have found The Coastal Cafe to have some of the best coffee I have had, and good eats too! The staff is friendly and the place is busy, but it is worth the wait.

A perfect blend of spices and hot pepper that hit the right spot, had the huevos with chicken. Must comment on the chicken as it was brilliant .Totally a fantastic experience , the wait was of concern as we were hungry ,however that was solved when we elected to be seated at the window bar.

Well everything on the menu sounded so good, it made it incredibly hard to decide what to try first. The McCoastal did not disappoint, nor did the Lattes. Can't wait to return and try something else :) absolutely delicious!!

We eat here pretty regularly. The food is always amazing. If being seen isn't important to you, takeout eaten at home in your pyjamas is always a great option.

Went on a whim after reading about the Coastal for a long time. We had breakfast a few hours earlier so weren't famished but were across the street so off we went. We decided to split Huevos Rancheros but everything passing by us on the way out of the kitchen looked delicious! The Huevos were cooked perfectly and the mole crema was a great addition to the dish. The most outstanding part of the meal was the service. Accommodating with a smile. They even made our shared meal into 2 separate serving without us requesting. This was service to the next level and was most appreciated.

The food is fantastic, with out question worth any time you may have to wait. What really impressed me, and where I am left disappointed at many restaurants, is they served really good coffee... Both drip and latte. The coffee was strong and dark enough.. Will go back again and recommend to anyone I can!

Yes, you are probably going to have to wait a few minutes for a table but it is indeed worth it. Sat outside enjoying their amazing coffee and some sunshine. Within minutes I was inside eating the Brisket and Biscuit and loving every bite of it!

Food was very good and cool atmosphere. Small space so many people waiting. Need to put heavy curtains at front door to stop cold air from flooding room everytime someone comes in.

Little gem ! Fried egg sandwiches and coffee were awesome ! Need a bigger dinning room.
