Review Eric The Baker - Guelph

Morla Phan
Everything from here is delicious! I've been a few times whenever I'm downtown and have cash with me! I'm no authority on European authenticity of baked goods, but I don't think that matters with how tasty and fresh the food always is. I've heard from other people this place is legit if that matters to you. I'm personally a fan of the croissants, and had the pleasure of having their red pepper and potato soup today (perfect for the cold weather!) Support local, indulge on some incredible pastries and breads without any regret!

I returned! I bought their brownies. Wow! Must try! They will knock your socks off! My favourite foods here: brownie, cinnamon danish, sausage roll, and croissant. See my pics and read my captions for more details. Older Review: This baker really knows his pastries! I was stunned at the quality and for such a reasonable price! All of my items (4) came to $15. They are a cash only place. This business is closed Sunday through Tuesday. I am definitely coming back! Wow, what perfect pastry! You will feel and taste the difference in quality here! I would definitely have the sausage rolls and croissants again! Thank you to the customer that highly recommended them to me!

It's abusive so good the pastries are at this place! The chocolate almond croissant is out of this world. And they're open early on weekends, perfect beginning of the day.

Absolutely the best bakery I have ever experienced. Every pastry I have tried (which is a lot!) is delicious and extremely fresh. Nothing compares to the pastries here! The soups are amazing too. All our staff LOVE this bakery. They also have fantastic service and have been delivering to us during this challenging time period, their service has been beyond helpful. Thank you!

The Best. Eric punches way above his weight! This place is a bit of Paris in Guelph. Everything is delicious: I highly recommend the danishes, quiche, the passion fruit and the lemon tarts and, of course, the croissants. Illy coffee and the best hot chocolate around. Even the hot meals are spectacular and a great value. And the staff are great.

I always long for the taste of European bakeries, as I am always missing that taste of home. I am delighted, excited and have already told 4 people, that today I have found it! I no longer have to wait to get off a plane in Paris, Holland or wherever to eat AUTHENTIC European style baked goods. Thank you thank you!! I’ll be making the drive from Cambridge frequently.

Visited Guelph for the first time this week and was told we had to visit Eric the Baker. When we got there croissants were coming fresh out of the oven. AMAZING! We will be coming back here anytime we are in the Guelph area! Don't forget to bring cash-they don't accept debit/credit.

Eric became an overnight institution in Guelph for his terrific pastries and excellent range of savoury dishes. Be prepared to wait and pay in cash knowing its worthwhile. I only wish he didnt serve coffee as the line would move much more quickly without and there are plenty of coffee shops in the area.

Amazing food, Eric is extremely talented and he's a great baker, they make a wonderful selection of treats and food. He's a really cool guy, all of the staff are amazing but had a mix up and they acted like it was our fault... Not sure how that's possible as it was just the wrong box from behind the counter.

It's no secret. I Moved to Guelph august 2014, and began modest exploration. First meal: on moving day, right across the street from my house, Senor Chipotle. It's good, real Mex; I've been back. Good pizza at Manhattan's. And one Saturday I found myself downtown, checking out the farmer's market, and saw this narrow storefront: Eric the Baker. Sausage Roll, $2. It's amazing. Remember those nasty dry dough wads with a wizened weenie stuffed inside, the nadir of British cuisine (well, that and the steamtable veg)? One of Eric's will banish that culinary nightmare forever. The sausage roll is not merely redeemed but elevated to the grail of one-hand meals. But it doesn't end there (although it could...they are good enough that they alone justify the drive from whence you came). Eric's desserts are equally to die for: Gâteau Basque, banana bread drizzled with chocolate, superb lemon tartes (and passion fruit, and others), assorted chocolate brownies and tartes, the best éclairs in memory...and I'm still barely halfway into the menu. <br/>Everyone in Guelph knows...now you do, too.
