I have been here twice, I think the food is amazing, service was great and the selection of local beverages on tap was on point. I especially liked the Ravioli and was only second to the seafood zucchini. In my opinion the seafood zucchini was one of the best meals I have ever had. My family and I will definitely be back!

I am never disappointed when I go to the Oar & Paddle. The food is always delicious, the service is excellent and I love the atmosphere! High class food in a casual setting. I recommend it regularly! Looking forward to seeing the completed expansion. Thank you!

When a menu proclaims something as the restaurant’s “famous” dish, I’m intrigued and will give it a try - an order of the deep fried chicken wings ($12.99 for 10 pieces) started us off while waiting for the mains. With thirteen sauces and seasonings to choose from, the Oar & Paddle has a decent selection. The sweet and spicy Thai lived up to its name in terms of flavour and the wings were good – juicy, crispy, freshly out of the fryer, and covered with an ample amount of sauce. Certainly not the best wings I’ve ever eaten, but would likely be a top 20 contender.
For a city by the water, I thought their bouillabaisse ($19.99) would be equally satisfying. To be fair, it had the beginnings of being a promising dish with a nice selection of seafood: perch, shrimp and mussels. Except for the shrimp, which were slightly overcooked, the others arrived flaky and plump.
However, what makes a bouillabaisse nourishing is a hot hearty broth – something aromatic that hits the nose as soon as the dish arrives and a depth that makes you want to drink every last drop. Somehow, the lukewarm lackluster tomato and
2nd time here in 364 days & once again another 5* experience. 2 fish&chips, 1 with sweet potato. Other ets were the burger and also a Boar and venison burger. On 0315-16 we had a wonderful March break Family dinner. Our table had: Dry maple bacon chin wings to start. Followed by 2 orders of fish & chips, one was yummy sweet potato fries! The adults had the Seafood creole & the Rice noodles with curry sauce + added chicken. 10out of 10 all around tonight, fast kitchen, and cold drinks, #Awesomefood
Great food, original take on some great recipes and awesome service. Well thought out menu is easy to share and that makes it taste even better. Great atmosphere, very original interior and awesome selection of small brewery beer, YUM😛

Absolutely fantastic. Home food made delicious. In my view any restaurant starts with the wine they offer. Although just a simple list with a handful of items, they are all 10 out of 10. Then the menu. Lots of choices in the menu. Food was delicious, attention from staff was delightful. It's definitely a place to come back too.
We went to the Oar in March with our kids. The tables were spaced out and the restaurant had a great ambiance. We ordered chicken fingers for the kids and they were very happy. We ordered sweet potato and carrot soup, garden salad, the fried chicken meal with mashed potatoes and vegetables, and the beef chuck meal with mashed potatoes and vegetables, ice cream and cheesecake. The food was excellent- we really enjoyed it! Would definitely go back!

Visited last night (June 16, 2022) for dinner, with my fiancé. We ordered the Spinach Artichoke appetizer served with char-grilled naan points and what appeared to be “house-made” tortilla chips. The portion size was very respectable and the freshness and quality were exactly as expected, although we felt the quantity of chips (not the dip) could have been slightly increased. We ordered 2 Blueberry Mojotos, which were garnished with fresh mint and a tasty lime slice. Both were delicious. We both ordered the Gnocchi with Butternut Squash and Bacon, Parmesan cream sauce garnished in fresh herbs which was absolutely out of this world. The SIZE of the portion of our Gnocchi left ME somewhat wanting, but the quality was exquisite. My fiancé thought her portion was just right.
We declined to have dessert as they only had one slice of the carrot cake remaining. No fault of their own, probably just sold out, as the place was relatively well attended for an early Thursday evening (around 5PM).
They had “live—music”, a man playing guitar and singing who was a little loud (presumably over amplified) but was very talented as guitarists go.
Our hostess was pleasant and promptly seated us at a comfortable enough table, but our server was either new to serving, or didn’t really want to be there last night, as she made everything seem it was an inconvenience, when we could find her.
Given the QUALITY of the food (very high), more than the portion sizes (slightly below average), the price point is what we expected, but could deter some people, especially during these hard financial times for most.
We would VERY LIKELY go again, because they nailed almost everything that is actually important in running a good restaurant.
UPDATE: (June 23, 2022). Had a repeat visit tonight with my fiancé. The food was again, FANTASTIC, having the Spring Wrap, Haddock Fish and Chips and another Spinach Artichoke Appetizer. We also tried the Double Chocolate house-made brownie for dessert. Our (not the same as our previous visit) server (Christina) was leaps and bounds better than our initial visit. She was absolutely “on point”.

Lovely restaurant with great service, decor and quality of food! I had the fish and chips and the batter was some of the thinnest and crispiest I've had, though a little disappointed there was no coleslaw served for the price.
We dropped in at this cute place on the way to Muskoka and were not at all disappointed!!! The beyond meat burger tasted fabulous😋😋They also have other vegetarian options like falafel wrap and fries. The burger was served with choice of sweet potato fries or normal fries both of which tasted great! Would definitely recommend this place for a quick drop by for a fantastic lunch or brunch.
Great food and friendly service - the summer salad was fresh, the fried fish was tender, and the poutine was great. We’ll stop by again the next time we’re in town!
What a fantastic experience. Great staff. We held a medium sized event in the West Wing and the service was astonishing. Catered to dietary restrictions. Adapted when numbers changed due to the weather. Just a brilliantly executed event. Thank you!!
