As a local, I love this place for lunch and afternoon meetings. I think it's wrong for it to lose points for not being open at dinner or late. It's a locally owned restaurant with two lovely owners. The food is good, and if you love baking, this is a great spot. My favourite is the quiche and summer berry salad. To die for.
Being a visitor to the area, my friend who lives in Gibsons recommended we do Bliss for breakfast, but ultimately for a cinnamon roll. We went by the evening before just to double check they'd be making them the next morning, and we were told to come for 9:30 and they'd be done by then. In true Gibsons fashion....it poured all night, and all morning. So we rushed out in the rain to enjoy the most delightful rainy morning breakfast. I ordered eggs (I wasn't asked how i'd like them to be cooked, but they came over easy, which I was fine with, even if i was in a scrambled kind of mood that day) with the bacon, asparagus, roasted tomato and toast. Let me just say....grilled asparagus should be served with every dish. I could eat asparagus all day. So I could've done more than my 2 spears...i'd have been happy to have an extra few spears instead of the squishy tomato. I appreciate they put the butter on the side of the dish, however, that butter's gotta be on that toast right away or else the toast gets dry and hard really quick, which is what happened in my case. Even adding butter after just didn't quite help the cold hard pieces of bread. It's ok...because what came next was the cinnamon roll. And I died a little inside and went to a very happy place. This is the stickiest roll I've ever had....and enjoyed it for several hours after as i tried getting every bit out of my teeth. It's like it was drenched in caramel toffee. I'm a sticky roll over a cream cheese icing roll kinda girl, so this one was right up my alley. Would definitely go back. Would also love to try their lunch menu next time I'm in the area...that "Mac and Cheese" sign was screaming my name!
Home- made bread. Its the best anywhere. Try the rasin rye or irish soda and its only $4.95 Love this place.
