Review The British Public House - Gatineau

This place bring so much memory. So one the food was great I had a burger and my son had a pizza. Now for my the burger is self was perfect. The bun wasn't dry nor soggy (full of grease or whatever). The mix of condiments with the flavor-I has maple burger I believe it's a house burger- was cooked right. Not over cooked so it becomes like a sponge. . . I had a side of sweet potato frie and the spicy sauce was just right not to hot . For ths pizza though. I glad that they use a home sauce . But the crust could use some tlc. It was a but burnt and was a bit hard to chew.. almost felt like past bread that was left to air out... the service was excellent overall i would go back anytime as a matter of fact my son asked me when we can go back...

Me and my girlfriend shared a chicken wrap and it was enough to sustain us for the walk we did. The restaurant is a 15 to 20 minute walk from the beach and is a good place to relax.

Unique in that is one of the few stone buildings left, and they got live bands Saturdays and people can dance. Food at the bar is quite good, large selection of drinks, and good service.

Stopped for lunch with a friend because the building is quite stunning. Nothing about it disappointed. The service and food was incredible. I wish I could remember the names of the servers as they were awesome. We had pizza and beet salad and the shrimp appetizer. All were perfect!!!

Went for lunch with a buddy. Good selection of beers on draft. I had the burger, it was very good but the fries were really disappointing.

We ordered takeout on a busy Saturday evening. It took about 40 minutes. We went in to order as the phone was not being answered. We had Fish and Chips, burger, poutine and wings. All very tasty. Fish pieces were not huge for $24 dollars, but lots of fries. No coleslaw unless you wanted it extra or sub the fries. The restaurant was busy and fairly loud for conversation. The outdoor patio area is big so a good alternative. Tasty meal

Dined here on a very busy night and despite that, both the food and service were incredible. Our server was very patient with our young kids and made great suggestions to accommodate them. Great selection of craft beer and generous food portions. The sweet potato fries were hands down the best I’ve ever had.

Had the calamari and the Mediterranean pizza. They were fantastic. Big thank you to our server, Aly. She was very friendly and super efficient.

March 2023 I recently came here for the first time with a friend on St.Patrick's Day, and LOVED it. Great live music performed by the Jon Dale band, and the place was rocking. Check their website as live bands are scheduled every Friday or Saturday night, no cover charge. The place was busy, yet the service was excellent. A single Canadian pizza for $20 was plenty for the two of us to share. This is a gem of a place. A historic building that dates back to 1834. Historic plaques, pictures, and memerobilia is hanging up on the walls. Renovated and reopened in 2016. Absolutely beautiful, and my type of place. We were there at night, so the street parking was free and easy to get.

My first time at the British hotel for some beer and food! Had the Mediterranean pizza, which was very good. Great friendly staff, French and English spoken. Prices are good for the size of food you get. Will definitely go back again!

Best hotel experience I have ever had. I was nervous because of other reviews but the staff were helpful and accommodating. We came here for our honeymoon. Our original room had a breaker issue which we were patient to wait and have fixed but the staff upgraded our room instead. It also is a little tricky if you are out and about after hours. Just ask the staff to show you how to get back in. It's easy once you know. Gorgeous rooms and so clean. Friendly staff. Great food and drinks. The neighbourhood is so cool and has so much history. Waterfront is a short walk away. Everything has been perfect. In fact, we spent a day just hanging out in the hotel because of how awesome it is. I am so sad we check out tomorrow. We will be coming back!

My first time back in over 20 years! Damn this place has changed. Gone are the days of slum dive. Now it's an updated top-notch pub with great fare and a decent brew selection. Wish they had more craft beer though. Although, order a coffee. Awesome roast!
