Review Pataterie Hulloise - Gatineau

Supposedly one of the best poutine shops in Gatineau. We wanted some authentic Quebec poutine and so we went here. Was good, don't get wrong, but it didn't change my life. A lot more cheese than we're used to, but that is not a bad thing. Sauce was a little bland, I expected a bit more spice or flavour. Great fries as a base. Nice folks working in a tiny place, room wait and not much space for eating in. Took it back to our hotel room, added a touch of ketchup, scarfed it down and wished we'd got a larger size. Older soon was sad, he got a burger and it was a bit too small, left him hungry. Pretty sure this one is connected to Bob Patat, exact same menu, even a Bob Burger!

Walked an hour to get here from downtown ottawa because I wanted some good poutine. This place does not disappoint. Massive servings, great cheese, gravy, and fries. Staff really nice, I tried my best to speak French and they accommodated me with English. Would come again, and again, and again...

This was our second stop on a poutine crawl and it was significant better and better value than the other poutine down the road. The potatoes tasted super fresh and the gravy wasn’t too sweet either. Highly recommend

One of the better options for old school Quebec-style fast food in Gatineau - the poutine's always been on point each time that I've gotten it.

Amazing no-fuss poutine. If you like your gravy not too salty, this is perfect. Nice and squeaky St. Albert cheese curds. And fries taste like they’re straight out of a chip truck. The portions are small, but prices are fair. My new go-to poutine north of the river!

The parking, I'm not sure if it was for the apartments or for the restaurant but I parked there anyways because there was no signage. Went inside and ordered a hot dog with everything on it (onions, relish and mustard) and then a Petite Classic Poutine. I wanted to put Bacon on it but there was a bit of a langauge barrier, I think if I wanted the bacon then I would have needed to get a Medium but I didn't want that. So I just went with the Petite Classic. The hot dog was super super good tho and I liked the cheese on the poutine, it was super good.

Best poutine! We stop here often and they are amazing fries, and the portions are huge. We order a family poutine and we always end up bringing some home. Conveniently located and lots of parking make an easy stop with the kids. An absolute must stop for any poutine fans .....thanks again

Cute little pataterie! Tried the poutine and pogo which were both delicious. Everything was served nice and hot. The indoor eating area is not very big but in the summertime you can eat on the patio which has more space. Would definitely recommend if you are looking to get your poutine fix and are in the area.

I discovered this place back in 2014 when I was here as a student. I used to not like poutine but a coworker convinced me to give this a try (he is Québécois so I trusted him) and I haven’t regretted it. LIFE-CHANGING poutine. I have told almost everyone in my life about this place, introduced my family to it and they all love it. Every time I’m in the Ottawa area, I make sure to drop by here. I haven’t been able to find a place comparable since.

During my trip to Ottawa/Gatineau back in October, I had La Pataterie Hulloise on my list for the longest time! And I am glad I waited for it! Known for their classic poutine and their Italian poutine, the staff always ensures the humble but well executed flavours for every order! The fresh cheese curds work well with the piping hot homemade gravy on top of the fresh cut fried that are fried to order! The Italian Poutine is a nice change from the classic with the hearty meat marinara sauce being a nice surprise to pair well with the cheese curds. Overall, it is worth the visit if you are ever in the Ottawa Gatineau region!

Just get the poutine and a Pogo for the real Quebecois Poutine Experience. It's not gourmet, so don't expect gourmet, just expect classic Canadian Quebec Poutine and fries. Love it. Large poutine is out of control.

Fast service, poutine was really good, perfect amount of cheese, gravy and fries! Reasonable prices as well. Highly recommend if you’re in the area

Insanely delicious poutine! A must visit if you are in the area and looking for a classic poutine! Staff is very kind and the servings are more than acceptable! We enjoyed the family size, which easily fed 4 adults with a large appetite! Very good pricing as well.

I went there for lunch to try it out. Leaving a 5-star despite the place being more of a "brick & mortar shag" than anything else. They know potatoes, that's for sure, and their prices are very fair. I had the Bacon Cheeseburger and it was really good for the price it's sold for ($5.80). The (medium) poutine was also very good, the medium really filled me up (and I have a solid appetite). Saggy fries, brown sauce, squeaky cheese and more sauce. The to-go container was full as can be. Not the most up-scale place but was decently priced for good quality food. That's a 5 in my opinion as 4 would be just too low. There is also room to sit outside and parking right next to the building. That's a plus. Recommended!

This is the best fries place in Gatineau. We come here often. The large fries (see picture) is huge and it’s only $5. Gravy thick and tasty. Burgers small, delicious and it’s only 3.25. Poutines are great. You will expect a long lineup from time to time. Around 10 parking spaces. Some seating inside. 5-6 picnic tables outside. There’s an ok washroom down some steps. A solid 5-star. It’s very cold today. It’s a good treat to have some hot yummy fries. Good as ever. Excellent gravy. 5-star for sure.

Didn't know what to expect cause my friend just took me here and it looked super casual, but it's one of the best poutine's I've ever tried. They keep it simple so you can taste everything without it being too salty! It also has a good balance of gravy, cheese and fries! Great portion and price. Will 100% return and try other items :)

Definitely 5 stars. It had that "hole-in-the-wall" feel but totally not. A few minutes across the pond from downtown Ottawa, everyone here speaks English, very convenient for non-french speakers. On to the wait. It's quite long, this place is definitely popular. We waited aprox 20min but oh so worth it! Now to the food. We figured we wouldn't over complicate it, we went for the classic poutine. A large for under $8, but spring for the extra cheese curds and extra gravy. It's well wroth it if you love cheese curds because it's a 50/50 mix of fries to cheese! The cheese is squeaky, as real curds should be, and they melt just the right amount on the surface. The fries are still somehow semi crispy even under all that gravy. The gravy is just perfect! Not too thick and heavy, not too thin and inauthentic. It's a flavor explosion with every bite. Makes the absolute best hangover medicine! This place is absolutely fantastic! One large poutine can be shared by 2 people and be full by the end, but wish you could eat more! Worth the drive over if your in Ottawa or on the way to Quebec.

I don’t really understand all the 1 stars this place is getting lately, maybe it’s because when I went or the people but I personally didn’t have any issues with the service or the food. Granted this is my first time coming here but I still personally have no issues with the food or service. I’d recommend this place over a lot of other so called poutine places in Ottawa/Gatineau!

Best poutine in Gatineau and the whole are by far ! If your a sauce person this place has some of the best sauces around. The house brown is always great but the chipotle and white are so yummy as well! Meat and other add-ins are always on point. Highly recommend!!!!

My tastebuds melted with the esquisite yet delicate detail placed upon my greasy slathered poutine perfection. The cheese curds cleaned the plaque from my gum line leaving a shiny noisy finish on my teeth as I frothed gravy from the corners of my mouth. D-lish

Favourite place for a pogo and a poutine. Portions are generous. Curds are squeaky. Gravy is tasty and not too salty.

Nous sommes allez à la pataterie ce soir à 4h25... aucun employé nous a adressé la parole ou un sourire avant la prise de notre commande à 4h46. Il y avait seulement 1 commande avant nous. (Poutine familiale et 3 cheese burgers) Ensuite, lors de l'attente pour notre commande, nous avons eu l'honneur d'entendre les employés dire qu'ils allaient décalisser tabarnac, rien fonctionne ici caliss, c'est de l'osti de marde... etc. On a préparé nos 2 poutines aussitôt la commande prise sans compter le temps d'attente pour le restant de la commande, 2 pogos, des zuchinis panés et 2 liqueurs fontaine. Il semblait y avoir 2 nouveaux employés pour 1 gars déjà habitué. Le gars qui nous a servi ne savait même pas ce que des zuchinis avaient l'air. Donc lorsqu'on s'est fait servir le restant de la commande à 5h02, nos poutine était froide et les frites imbibées de sauce, particulièrement dégoutant. Sur ce, je doute fortement y retourner, ni le recommander.

The fries are perfectly cooked; the cheese is usually fresh and squeaky; and the gravy is always hot and tasty. Combine them and you get REAL poutine...not what fast food restaurants serve and call poutine...sometimes I wish I lived in Gatineau *just* to be able to have this more often :-)

Pataterie classique dans le genre, pour apprécier un bon rotteux, une graisseuse et une gazeuse à bon prix! Ça faisait 7 ans que je n'étais pas retournée à Gatineau et quand j'ai été dans le coins je n'avais qu'une envie, retourner y manger!

The best poutine in Gatineau!! It has a nice relaxing atmosphere. The staff are friendly. It always seems busy which is a good sign.
