Review Bistro Boreal - Gatineau

The service was average, probably because it was slightly busy and there was only 2 servers. Both of the pasta dishes we had were amazingly tasty and reasonably priced. Would defiantly eat here again.

Food was very good! I ordered the Mushroom Ravioli and was very impressed by how delicious it was. The menu didn't have a very large selection, but what they did have on there was great. Would definitely come back here again.

Great food and reasonable prices. The pasta was amazing! I wish they had longer open hours.

We had the duck, ravioli and a kids meal. It was all really really good. Very happily surprised!

Some of the reviews from a few years back aren't very positive, but this place has clearly made improvements. Staff were like and prompt, and the restaurant itself is lovely. The menu is small but the items that they have are great. I had the mushroom soup and the bison burger - both were phenomenal - and my bill was about $20.

I was very surprised by this place. Normally, museum's restaurants are flat and basic but this one was surprisingly good. I had the chicken and fig open faced sandwich with the fries and it was delicious. The service was also excellent. We were first served by this young server who took our orders. He was very polite and smiling. Then, another server, a young lady, bring us the checks and made us pay. She was also very attentive and very kind. Overall, we really enjoyed our lunch time!

The Bistro Boréal is amazing! We ordered pasta with cheese for our 2 year old and she said mmmm with every bite. Quite cute! She also couldn't get enough of the creamy chocolate ice cream. We asked to have her served first and were served with grace and speed. Personally, I ordered the open face chicken salad with the soup du jour. Absolutely delicious. The portions were excellent for lunch and the price very reasonable. My friend ordered stuffed pasta and she too exclaimed how delightful it was. Food (fresh & flavorful); price (very reasonable); atmosphere (calm and inviting) and the service was excellent (pleasant server, quick service and well attended). Will definitely put this restaurant on my "return to " list.

Awesome food and great service. The brunch menu has enough options to please. We arrived 30 minutes before closing time and they couldn't offer the burger and kobb salad anymore, so arrive early. We had the waffle and benny's with mushrooms, simple plates elevated with flavor. We also had the brie ravioli, it was delicious. Overall great food and appropriately priced. The service was quick and the staff smiling friendly. I highly recommend this place.

Very pleasant modern bistro at the museum. Four different lunches, all successful. Interesting menu, could have picked any of the items on it. Staff attentive and quietly polite. Prices quite reasonable: $12-15 entrees.

Very tasty food! I didn't expect the museum to have a restaurant of this caliber

Good food, but very limited selection. Also I was told I couldn't take my soup with me to take-out after we done because they don't have any take-out containers, which I found very odd for a restaurant.

Good for with unique dishes. A little pricy but very convenient and the food is worth it! Wish it was open occasionally later for a nice dinner out.

Really nice food and comfortable for a reasonable price. No need to eat fast food places.

The wait was minimal, considering it was Canada Day and very busy. The wait staff were friendly and the duck poutine was amazing.

One of the worst experiences. We waited to be seated. That's normal for any busy bistro. 15 minutes later we realized that she forgot about us. Finally someone else show up and asked if we want to be seated. He took our orders and then... we waited for 30 minutes. Around us all tables were served including 2 which were seated AFTER us... When I asked the personnel (server and the chef) what's going on with our order they looked absolutely puzzled and confused. I gave them another 5 minutes to bring us something. C'mon, the soup is already done and can be served in the first 10 minutes ! All they had to do was to fill in the soup bowls. 10 minutes later no move so I informed them that we are leaving. The personnel did NO attempt to fix the situation. Not even a simple apology. They simple said: "That's fine. Go." For a bistro which is located inside the Canadian Museum of History, Ottawa, Canada's Capital this kind of service and attitude it is UNACCEPTABLE ! People from all over the world are coming here to visit and to see what means Canada. Food and hospitality is part of the experience. Should I mention that during our long period of waiting we noticed several Health and Food Safety issues ?
