Review Diplomat Restaurant - Fredericton

Friendly staff and a lot of variety. They have an all day breakfast option, large lunch and dinner menu and a buffet option. The food itself could have been a bit more flavourful compared to some of the other Chinese food spots around town. The price is also pretty average for the city. We had the buffet option and so got to sample much of the different dishes. Everything was cooked well and for $33 it's worth it, if like me, you eat a lot. Nice desserts too.

On our first day in Fredericton, my wife and I were invited for a brunch at the Diplomat and we couldn't have asked for a better welcoming present! The breakfast is simply delicious! All staff members were great at their jobs, treated us wonderfully and the prices were fair. It's not a mystery why this is a classic and traditional place in Fredericton. We recommend it to everyone!!!

Awesome supper. The number of awards on the wall are quite understandable after eating there. Fantastic buffet. Service by Christina was top notch! Thank you! Cannot recommend it enough.

This restaurant has the BEST charbroiled steaks in the city...by far. Oh there are other places that serve steaks, even some that specialize in it, but none come close. The other item which is surprising for a Chinese restaurant is the Fish n Chips.. its HUGE and delicious. As far as their Chinese food, it is a few dollars more then most places but the portions are also plentiful and well worth it. The servers are also the most experienced in the city and very friendly. I highly recommend this place.

The best thing I like about diplomat was it's buffet and in the buffet my favorite part is dessert. Best and huge varieties. The part which I don't like us the menu for buffet is always comman. I wish there was more chicken dishes and felt the price was lil expensive

Buffet was $70 for two!!! The food is 100% not worth it no flavour whatsoever very basic they should not be able to say that they serve high-quality Chinese food. I can get better from a frozen dinner. Wait staff was very friendly however the food is not worth the money at all. Never coming back here again and if you like tasting food and enjoying your well spent money don’t go here either. There are way better options in Fredericton that are cheaper and have better quality food.

The Diplomat is a terrific place to eat but since it is so popular, reservations are suggested. Very friendly servers, it has the choice of spacious booths or tables. Buffets are offered at certain times and are a feast for the eyes as well as the body. A variety of delicious foods are available but the Chinese food is my favorite. Portions are large and this tastes like authentic Chinese cuisine. Thinking about the desserts, it is hard to choose but the variety of cheesecakes and other tasty treats greet you in a display case as you enter. The Diplomat is my first choice for a meal in Fredericton .

We were there for the supper buffet and its sad to say but its just not what it use to be. The quality and taste for us has gone downhill on some items. The rice has a very rubbery texture, the egg rolls are greasy and hard shell and tasteless, the won ton soup has been off on taste on our last two visits. The beef in the beef and broccoli is tough and tasteless/ fatty and seem to be low quality meat. The wings are very over done, too crispy and hard to chew/bite into.... However the garlic ribs, chicken balls, crab legs, mussels and vegetable/seafood stir-fryes are good and staying consistent. The desserts are ok the cheesecake on the buffet could use a tweaking laking flavor and the brownies are dry. The chocolate cake on the buffet is good and its moist. However the showcase desserts/cheesecakes are of better quality and of good portion for the price. Overall we always enjoy the great service and atmosphere.

I placed an order with diplomat today and once the order arrived after the normal wait of 45 minutes (a combo platter with substitution for beef and broccoli and ceaser salad with shrimp and scallop skewer) The combo platter came with barely cooked broccoli and two very small pieces of beef. The ceaser salad arrived with three brown over cooked dark shrimp and scallops about the size of a dime. Now the food was one thing, the truely terrible experience here was when I tried to call the restaurant to let them know of the sub par food, I was given attitude and excuses right from the beginning of the call, at no point was an apology made or anything kind of condolences offered, instead when I tried to speak to the “supervisor” she rose her voice and spoke over me the entire time stating she’d packed the food herself and arguing that there was nothing wrong with the order. When trying to call back to speak with someone else I was hung up on instantly. The food wasn’t worth the money spent, and the employees do not care.

Had a reservation for a Thursday evening for a large group (15 , two of which were under 2 yrs) and they sat 10 but the rest had to wait another 40 minutes to be seated close by. The buffet was disappointing -- over cooked dry chicken, odd tasting beef, .etc. One member of our party ordered a seniors fish n' chips -- the fish was puny. Asked for another piece and even offered to pay but would have been charged for another whole meal! Waitress staff was pleasant and on the ball with water refills but really I don't think I will be returning any time soon.

The best breakfast in Fredericton and the service is A1 !

Ordered from here last week with family. One of the members is deathly allergic to shellfish which we informed them of. Her food arrived covered in oyster sauce, leaving her with no meal. As well I found a large, hard peice of plastic in mine. She called them, and nothing was done. I emailed a few days later including a picture. They said they would get back to me regarding the incident and never did.

Just want to thank you for the Christmas food poisoning. A group of us got a take out combos on Christmas eve and I spent the night and all day Christmas ill. I missed out on everything and still can't eat anything. I will never get food here again, or recommend this restaurant to anyone. This is especially saddening as I loved the Chinese food and was actually bragging to friends the day before, on how great it is, and that I was excited to eat there! What a mistake!

Toke a friend of mine there loved the food always had good time and good food there ben going here many years now never got any thing I did not like Chinese food is great always my number one spot to eat at in Fredericton

Had the Lobster Fried Rice, Chicken Chow Mein and Honey Garlic Wings and was really happy with the food as it tasted amazing 😊

Was here last night. Food was good. Only ate half my food as the serving was big. Had the clubhouse with fries. Asked for the other half to be packaged up. Toke meal home. Next day opened container and there is no fry's. The waitress throw out my fry's and only gave me my half of the sandwich. I paid 15$ for the meal. I expect to get all of it... very disappointing.

Our first time eating there. Valentine's day buffet. Made a reservation and were seated very close to reservation time. What brought us out last night was your ad about SEAFOOD EXTRAVAGANZA. You mentioned 4 seafood items in your ad including scallops and mussels. You had neither. Very disappointed in that. Crab legs were plentiful and seafood chowder was awesome BUT far from a seafood EXTRAVAGANZA.
