OK sides, great cue. This used to be the best Chinese BBQ place in town. Since the new owners took over, the place has been spruced up, the food tastes slightly different and the portion sizes have come down a lot.
Still a decent enough place, but the BBQ shop on 118Ave/97 St is looking like a better option.
PS- The clientele on weekends and evenings can be a bit rough, but don't let that deter you:)
Perfect Asian BBQ. I don't even know where to begin. This little gem is just few blocks in from Jasper Ave tucked around a corner. It isn't much to look at but that's never stopped me before. It was exactly what I was hoping for... simply amazing food. It's not "Canadian Chinese", which is how it should be.
The BBQ pork and duck are both done to perfection. The meat is tender and juicy and packed with flavour. The sauces are stunning. They have some fantastic side dishes that are fresh and light with clean and distinct tastes. I'd highly recommend the mixed vegetables, the pork fried rice, or the sweet and sour pork. The noodle dishes are good but they seem to be the only consistency issues that I've found. Most importantly the food is prepared in a traditional manner that skips the mounds of batter and chemical enhancements and doesn't leave you feeling ill afterwards (as most Asian restaurants in Edmonton seem to do).
This place is a little out of the way for me but it's always been well worth the trip and the cravings alone drive me back often enough. Do yourself a favour and make your way over.
