I tried three kinds: philly steak, cheese and onion, and seafood.
The philly steak was good, but could have been much better. Quite frankly, I'm not a fan of the chewy (and un-chewable) parts of meat.
The seafood was a surprise because it actually had a good amount of seafood AND I could actually TASTE the seafood. It was really good.
But my favorite was the onion and cheese: it was stuffed wonderfully, baked perfectly, and the onion and cheese tastes were prominent.
That being said, each piece is almost $3, so would I come here on the days where I am really starving? Probably not. But if I want a little snack, I'd make sure to pass by.
After seeing the photos and reviews, I wanted to take a plunge and try this place. Staff were very friendly, and best of all the food was excellent! The baked empanadas were crispy and smelled so good! Definitely, another hidden gem in Edmonton! =)
First time there today, its a mom and pop shop so don't expect anything fancy, but its been my experience that they usually have the best foods. We tried the beef, ham and cheese, cheese and onion and cheese and spinach. The beef was great exactly what I was craving and the cheese and onion tasted like a lil French onion soup packet. The other two were good but not as delicious.the dough is fantastic and totally makes the empanada.
Super tasty!. I saw all the positive reviews and decided to give it a try. Called ahead for pickup and they were ready in 15 minutes. I thought I ordered enough to take some for lunch the next day but they were too delicious and I ate them all! Will definitely be back!
Amazing! Light pastry filled with just enough sauce and spice to compliment whichever filling you pick. A real gem in Edmonton even if its in a dingy strip mall. Take out and cook at home are both wonderful and well priced.
Sooo good. Tried the frozen beef as well as the chorizo...superb tastes that left us wanting to try more! Can't wait to try them made fresh next time...the owner is very helpful and appreciative of new business....will return!
Delicious and a great price!. We tried 6 different kinds of empanadas and loved them all! The beef and pork were my favourite. We also shared a pepperoni pizza which was wonderful... very cheesy! We bought some frozen ones to take home. We will be back!
SO SO SO SO GOOD!!!!!!!. My and my girlfriend try this place yesterday for the first time and for sure will be coming back MYEMPANADAS are awesome!!! We tried the chicken, beef, pork and steak. 5stars all the way!!
Great Place. After the great reviews I read on here, decided to check it out. Doesn't look like much, really need to be looking for it to even know it exists. The empanadas are delicious, and the Argentinian owner is very friendly. Only one working there as far as I could tell. Great little business, hope he does well! Try the philly cheesesteak empanada!
Ate there tonight, and I'm probably going back tomorrow to order 20 or so frozen ones to take back to the family out of town
What a great little stop!. Two big thumbs up for this little gem. We tried the seafood, broccoli, spinach, and cheese/onion empanadas and were pretty delighted. They are fresh, delicious, and really very reasonably priced. Everything is very flavourful - the curry in the broccoli was a tasty surprise! We liked them all so much, we got some frozen ones to go for the freezer. The tortillas and pizzas also looked delicious, and I would want to try them in the future. They had some really unique and yummy sounding topping options! Highly recommended...it seems to be just one friendly Argentinian chef running the show, so I hope he gets lots of business as he deserves.
Awesome place if you're looking for something fast and different. Great food either frozen and cooked at home or baked in the store. I recommend grabbing both at the same time. I've tried a few flavours. So far I'm liking beef, chicken, spinach and broccoli.
Tasty empanadas ready to eat or fill your freezer. The empanadas here are fresh, filled with a variety of ingredients and tasty! When I stopped in on Saturday there were two types hot and ready to eat, the beef and the chicken, so I had one of each. There are two small tables so you can eat in store and there are several varieties of pop and juice available to wash down your lunch. I took mine home with me instead and they tasted great even after reheating a few hours later. The traditional pastry is really tasty and the filling is plentiful and full of flavour. The friendly Argentinian owner also told me that all the varieties are available frozen and only take 15 minutes to bake at home. I will definitely be going back to sample more of the options available and pick up a few of the beef ones.
The best food finds actually come to me unplanned . And it’s the best kind of surprise too, like finding a $20 bill in your pants! My latest stumble? My Empanadas, located right next door to the newly opened Korean Mama Lee’s Kitchen on 106 St and 51 Ave. Earlier this week , we had dinner there and as Joe and I were walking out and making our goodbyes to Jessica and Jerry, Jessica (of course) spotted the Argentinian empanada shop. Jessica has the biggest eye for food, ten times larger than mine. Were we all full? Yes. Did we want to try empanadas? Yes. So what did we do? … Need I answer that? The shop has been around for nearly two years now. In fact, I was already following it on Twitter and had it on my wishlist on Urbanspoon . How many of these little eats have I completely overlooked? A full menu is available on their website.
I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch from MyEmpanadas, I found their prices very reasonable, and I appreciate the option to buy frozen and bake at home. If you've driven by this place and wondered about it, I'd encourage you to next time stop, and head in for a delicious pocket packed with Argentinian flavour.
Hands down best traditional Argentinean empanadas in the city. We picked up a dozen of the frozen variety to try at home (they're good, but the freshly baked ones are waaaaay better!!)
Extremely kind and genuine owner, very nice man who is a pleasure to chat with. It has expanded in the last year and now boasts a liquor license and new seating area as well. Great food here of course, a variety of pizza and 12 empanadas and can even buy them frozen in bulk to bake at home, just don't forget the beaten egg and parchment paper!
Hidden gem. I only tried the empanadas and they were beyond delicious. Fantastic friendly service. Highly recommend!
We have been home from Chilé for a couple months and have been absolutely craving empanadas since being home. This place is delicious! Brought some home, made a pisco sour and pretended we were back in Pucón.
Delish.
