The service was very friendly right as I walked in the door.
The sandwiches came with a pickle, and a bag of homemade potato chips. I didn't think the chips were very good, a 4/10, they were cold and not very flavourful. Much would have preferred if the sandwiches had the option to come with a salad or something
The Montreal smoked meat sandwich was an 8/10. The sauerkraut was crunchy and added a great taste, but not overpowering on the sandwich. The mustard was grainy but not too strong. The meat itself was very flavourful and wasn't dry at all.
The Italian sandwich was a 7/10, a little bit greasy but that's expected with the meats used. The jack cheese on it was excellent. The pickled pepper were a nice addition.
The chicken sandwich was like thanksgiving in a bun. The chicken was moist and flavourful on its own. The stuffing and gravy were good, not great though. Overall a 7.5/10.
The chicken noodle soup was average, nothing to write home about.
Overall this is definitely a place I will be back to.
I give S&S a 3.5 based on the fact that the sandwiches are very good, however the prep and handling at this location is beyond poor. Myself and a co worker have been to this location 3 times this year and every time we go we cannot watch our meals get prepared. Last week I ordered the grilled cheese with added bacon and the gentleman wiped the counter of sauce with a dry white rag that hadn't looked very clean, then reached that same hand he used on the cloth to grab my bacon (no gloves). At the end when my co worker and myself were paying we observed the lady take our payments (cash and debit) then reach her hands into the fresh bowl of kettle chips located beside the register and filled the bag. (no gloves again) I will likely go back still because the sandwiches are tasty however I am not impressed with how they cross contaminate.
I went here today because I've heard from my friends about the fantastic sandwiches here! Especially Friday's for the foie gras sandwiches. Today was the chicken and sausage gumbo with foie gras made fresh to order, with homemade kettle chips and a pickle! I had to take this to go, but on my way back to work the smell emanating from the seat beside me drove me to drool the ride back to work! The smell equals the taste and flavor from the sandwich that begs you to keep eating it even if you are full! The chips and pickles are the bomb and I will be going back again!! Thank you for my religious experience with this sandwich!!
