I love this place, I don’t care how cliché it sounds as an Edmontonian. I love the ravioli, I love the sliders, the crispy mashed, the rotisserie chicken... I am peeved that they changed the style of the skewed shrimp from bbq butterflied to ... broiled or something gross. That was a big turn off. But other than that still love it. Don’t get steak here though they don’t know how to cook to temp.
Man if you don't eat the crispy potatoes you have f'd right up!!! I also like that normally have a revolving red racer on tap.
Good food, good service, fair value.
Be safe and have fun kids!
Have eaten here many times and it's pretty much above average when it comes to both service and food. Never had to wait long for a drink, or water. Food is the usual bar yet upscale menu. I always get the hash on the side which is always the best with the cool sour cream. This particular time I had the ravioli with lobster cream and grilled prawns. I'm a sucker for cream sauce on pasta and this was not bad at all.
Sal says: Just try it (3.5/5)
Our waitress, Miranda, definitely made our afternoon when we came in for lunch with our mom! She's so funny, professional & on top of the service. Thanks Miranda for making us laugh!
As colder weather hits #edmonton, its time to check out some indoor patios! Joeys Mayfield is a prime indoor patio! Water feature, trees, and giant windows to let in maximum light and warmth. Food and Drinks are expensive but tasty. Service was fantastic! A real patio feel even though you're indoors. Definitely coming back.
ONE CHANGE: Take a little water out of the pool so that there can be a fountain. The sound of water falling would take the ambiance to the next level.
Food and Drink: 7/10
Ambiance: 8/10
Service: 9/10

Joey is a really nice chain restaurant, each location has its own charm. Joey Mayfield is no different! It has a beautiful atrium and a great ambience.
Joey has delicious cocktails and food. I had a Bellini, a sangria and the California chicken sandwich. The sandwich had a lot more bread than chicken but was quite good overall. Both the Bellini and sangria were flavourful and well made. Service was good and attentive.
I would definitely recommend this Joey location!
Joey's in Mayfield Edmonton is truly a really great restaurant to go to for a first date. It's got a really pleasant atmosphere, even though it is (kind of but not really) a franchise; I've honestly had so many memorable experiences dining here. Overall, it has a generally accepting atmosphere even if you are dressed to the nines or alternately wearing sweats. I mean, preferably you could choose to wear jeans or something as it has a nice balance between fancy and casual dress attire-but you could definitely get away with less.
Generally speaking, I prefer cozy little unique family-owned restaurants that make you feel good inside about helping out a local business. With that being said-we all hit these types of restaurant "chains" from time to time, for a multitude of reasons. Whether it's for a birthday dinner, a typical date night, or for the plain and simple fact that some people have no idea where else has good food besides the typical go-to places that everybody else has heard of.. and let's face it-might as well go someplace with generally attractive people working there-I've ended up at Joey's a crapload of times.
The first Joey's opened in 1992, and now there are a number of locations, with 3 currently in Edmonton. I've frequented the Mayfield location over the years, as well as the Jasper Ave spot (before it closed down in anticipation of its new location in Bell Tower).
While I wouldn't exactly rave over Joey's, I'd have to admit all-around everything is comfortable and consistently reliable. Which doesn't, of course, sound overly exciting but is nice to know you can count on feeling general satisfaction. The restaurant itself is spacious, with a generally upscale decor, but a classy laid-back atmosphere. I've always found the service to be the typical standard of most restaurants-polite and mannerly.
I have tried many dishes over the years and I find the food and drinks have all been satisfactorily palatable. I prefer the filet mignon, which is my personal favorite here-and I particularly love the fully loaded, crispy mashed potatoes. They remind me of spring rolls in appearance, and I find them an entertaining and delicious accompaniment. Lately, they've featured a fair amount of asian-inspired fusion dishes which is intriguing, though I'd have to rate their "sushi" as passably mediocre at best.
Overall, I'd say I enjoy all the Joeys restaurants, though I'd have to say that the Mayfield location is probably my favorite. The winning feature here is probably the patio, as it is technically still indoors, but has an outdoorsy feel with lots of windows. If you are in the west end and are looking for a place to eat-check it out for sure!
22NOV2017 -Never a disappointment. Our server Kris was very kind and full of information about any questions regarding the menu. Love coming here.
21APRIL2016 -Always love coming to this location! Friendly waitress and hostesses! The food is tasty too! Favourite app: Korean Fried Cauliflower!!! Favourite entree: Fettuccine Alfredo with extra arugula, and tomatoes and added cilantro and green onion!
Went to Joey's a few weeks ago. We sat in the lounge. When we first arrived it was packed and the music pumping. The music was way too loud for the first 1/2 hour as we were having trouble talking/hearing our server. However the food was spectacular. We started with the Korean Cauliflower which was crispy, flavorful and and had just enough kick. I got the lobster & shrimp ravioli. It was decedent, creamy, rich full of flavor and the shrimp were cooked to perfection. My friend got the ahi tuna salad and a side of crispy mashed potatoes. Both dishes looked really good. She devoured both dishes, so they must have been awesome. To top it off they have these amazing Supernova drinks which are flavored vodka of your choice, soda, topped of with slush and a lime wedge. These are trouble. It was a little pricey but worth it if you want to treat yourself to a good meal. Service was top notch.
Enjoyed the food here. Everything tasted pretty good. Service was good and pretty fast. We didn't wait long to be seated even though the place was full of customers. Would likely come back if I am in the area.
I feel like this restaurant is trying to walk the line between fine dining and a casual chain restaurant. My friends and I had a reservation for 10 on a Saturday night at 7pm. Getting there, I realized that this is a HUGE restaurant, and even has it's own fountain pool in the centre of the restaurant which is a nice touch. The ambiance along with the dimmed lights creates a more relaxed and fine dining environment. After being seated, we had our drinks and food orders taken. I got the Calamari to start, and had the Prime Sirloin.
The Calamari to start was impeccable, perfectly seasoned with a spicy aioli sauce that was a little bit spicy and added to the flavour of the calamari. After that, all the other food that my friends and I had were very average and mediocre. I got the Prime Sirloin which came with a side of vegetables and mashed potatoes. While the Prime Sirloin was good, it was relatively unevenly cooked throughout. Parts of it were red on the inside, and others were barely pink. It probably ranged from medium rare to medium well, which I guess averages out to what I wanted (medium). All the flavour seemed to be in one of the corner of the steak too - the seasoning definitely wasn't evenly spread out. Some other concerns my friends noted is that their Steak and Sushi only came with 5 thin strips of steak, and that at times our table seemed to be neglected. Water at times wasn't filled, and we were left waiting a long time between cleaning up dinner until paying. That being said, when the service was there it was friendly and understanding, so that's a plus. They also said that their kitchen was behind schedule, so maybe that's why it took them a while to do some stuff.
All in all, I wasn't ecstatic of my experience here. I had higher expectations from others and reviews I've read, but I left the place feeling as if I had just gone to a fine dining restaurant and paid those prices but gotten regular chain restaurant food that is oh so common in Edmonton. I'd not be opposed to coming back with friends, but I wouldn't recommend or suggest this place to others.
Sat in the bar at this Joey's our server was very nice and attentive. We had the ahi tuna tacos and the tandoori chicken flatbread. All I have to say is wow. The flavours from both dishes were fantastic. I personally loved the tacos! I will definitely be back for those!
Prompt service, and polite and friendly staff. We only actually saw our server to take the order, when we got the food and for the cheque. So no extra service there. Good was good though. Reasonable portion sizes, and great tasting.
Always go to this place for the crispy mash! Try to make it myself, but; seem to never be able to replicate it :(
I hope they never take this off of menu!
This location is great as the other locations with tasty food and nice ambiance. I love that you are not bombarded with food choices, but the selection is unique and quite different from each other. We usually go to the lounge side which was built to make one snuggle into a booth and relax with a drink. The bathrooms need a change perhaps. They smell like rose air freshener and with the "American Beauty" style wall paper it creeps me out a little. Clean but a wee bit creepy.
Joey has got to be one of my favourite "fine dining" restaurants and one that I have been coming back to and at times, finding myself craving their food. As any other restaurant, Joey can get very packed at night with a wait but I have never had to wait excessively long whether it be a party of 2 or a party of 6. In the summer, they open up the windows in their patio. I would recommend trying to get a patio seating if available as it makes the experience even more enjoyable.
I have never had a problem with the service here. The service at this particular Joey is exceptional. The staff are all very polite, friendly, and attentive. Some servers even try to make your dining experience feel more personal by asking you about your day or your plans, which I believe all servers should try to do rather than making you feel impersonal and that they are truly just there to "serve" you.
The food has *consistently* come out fantastic each and every time I've been back. I won't go into specifics about their food but I will name a few of my favourites: the herb crushed salmon, their steaks, the beef dip, and especially their yam fries. Their presentation with the food is beautiful and you can tell that Joey really puts a lot into how they present and make their food. I even forgot, more importantly, their famous crispy mashed potatoes is a side dish you must try.
I love the food, experience, and service at Joey and it is a place I will continue to keep coming back to.
Never enough. I find the portions small. Usually I end up ordering lettuce wraps after my main instead of dessert because I'm not full. Waitress suggested I have steak next time. I may give that a try. Food is good, I would just like to leave full. Service is always good. I'll keep going back. Red racer beer is good also.
Success. My wife and I were visiting JOEY in the middle of a work week that was hectic and it was a success
this was a treat in the middle of a busy week
The girls were beautiful and very cute and the food was delicious
When we go back to Joey the next time I will make a point of asking for the same waitress she was hot bodied
I really enjoyed the experience. The ambiance was great and the food was spot on! The food was really flavourful but it was a little but spicy. The ambiance was amazing relaxing, quiet and modern. The service was very helpful and they catterd to all of our needs. I definitely recommend for a late lunch/ early dinner.
Looked at the menu and it was pricey. Nothing seemed likable but i ordered the lobster sandwich which was small and tasted just okay..... The atmosphere was good though.
Great service, staff and management! Delicious quality food and drink!
Yummy. Breanna was a delightful server:) Wonderful night, great food!
Wow!. Late August, Friday afternoon, not too many good days left this year, decided to spend one of them at Joey Mayfield. There are a lot of items on the menu and 'disappointment' is not one of them. Tha Dawg and Mrs. Dawg shared an appetizer (lettuce wraps)(8 out of 10), a main course (ravioli)(9.5 out of 10), and dessert (donuts)(9 out of 10 - that mascarpone!). Drinks - delicious! Post-meal coffee - delicious! Service - outstanding! Atmosphere / Room - outstanding! (If there's another restaurant in Mayfield with a 15' by 30' infinity pool, I haven't heard about it.) Keep up the good work. Tha Dawg gives this place - 9.5 out of 10 and a promise to return real soon.
Yummy. Had the Sashimi Tuna Salad. It was excellent! The combo of the dressing and the veggies was perfect. A great healthy lunch.
Cool place to hang out for a bit. Service is inconsistent, depends on the server. I would suspect some of the staff is hired for looks and not ability. Kitchen is always over whelmed and slow at peak hours.
Room is cool, over sized plants, indoor reflecting pond, it all adds up to a nice place to hand out.
Portions are par.
Sometimes I come here when I can get away for a mid afternoon. The 'pool' room is a cool place have a beer, some food and to hang out for a hour or two. Get me the Bajo tacos and a 20oz Hoe and I'm good.
It's also good place to bring business clients for informal meetings (read:schmoozing).
Came here for a small corporate event a few years ago. About, 40 guests. They closed the curtain to the corridor between the lobby and the kitchen. It was really cool place to sit.
Love Joey's. I've had everything from soup and salad to burgers, sandwhiches and steak entrees here. I really enjoy the food. Absolutely love the decor and retractable roof, if only we were in California. My fav dish is the Baja Fish Tacos. I drool when thinking about them. I could drink the Mexican hot sauce that comes on the side. Try them.
Excellent, excellent place! Beautiful indoor patio with pool, incredibly friendly servers, huge variety in their menu, overall absolutely incredible. My SO and I went there for our anniversary, and the manager was making rounds greeting all of the customers (also impressive) and when we told her it was our anniversary, they covered the cost of our dessert! The music was just the right volume, and our food got to us quickly. Very relaxing environment, after we were finished, we were not ushered out at all, but left to talk and relax until we decided we wanted to go. A little pricy, but very worth it. I would recommend this Joey's to anyone. :)
It was awesome! The service was fantastic! We had the Chinatown wraps for an appetizer which I highly recommend. It had the perfect amount of spice to it. The salmon was moist and delicious and the crispy mashed potato that came with it was delightful. The crispiness of the outside mixed with the smooth creamy inside was the perfect contrast of texture. Would definitely go back in a heartbeat.
Went for a bday dinner last night, this was our first time visit and we were very impressed with the atmosphere and the look of the place. The service was also prompt, accommodating and courteous. the menu was pretty limited and definitely over priced. my husband and i each had a drink, and had the shrimp pesto flat bread ($14.5) as an appetizer, its not listed under appetizers but its definitely not a meal size. for entree, i had the sicilian pasta and my husband had fish tacos with yam fries on the side. the pasta was a good size and flavorful, i was charged an extra $2 on top of the $18 for a wedge of non-satisfactory garlic bread. My husband was charged $8.50 for his side of yam fries which we thought was pretty excessive considering that it wasn't a big portion either. the fish tacos were okay, not all that flavorful and again small portion, only 4 small tacos. all in all great atmosphere and service, food portion is okay would expect more for the money. spent abt $85 for 2 drinks, and 3 "entrees" including tip.
I eat fairly often and have to say I have had it both ways- the food is always great- but the service can be excellent or horrible! Courtney in the bar area is fabulous at her job, so for that reason; if she is on when I come in it totally makes my expirience!
Sunday Lunch. The two of us paid a visit to Joey Mayfield fo lunch. We chose the dining room as our location, even though it was overly air-conditioned.
Seth, our server, was quite new with Joey's, but did sterling work looking after us, and showed pretty good knowledge of the menu and liquor menu.
My spouse ordered the Ahi Tuna Tacos, which she thoroughly enjoyed, and found to be a nice size for lunch, even though listed as an appetizer. I ordered the Lobster Grilled Cheese sandwich with fries, some of which were consumed by my companion!
The sandwich was well stuffed with succulent pieces of crustacean and brie and mild cheddar, then nicely grilled. I found the accompanying seafood sauce rather heavy on the horseradish. The fries were almost shoestring ones, and were excellent!
I did taste the wasabi aioli that was served with the tuna tacos, and found it lacking in bite, but with a hint of mint to it. Our server told us that it was a "Green Goddess" sauce.
Coffee was excellent, service hiccuped once over getting a refill, but aside from that the staff seemed pleasant and cheerful.
We will be back, but will avoid the bar due to the "water hazard".
Great service! good food. I was in a larger party, in which we had two servers. I must say the server that my side of the table had was phenomenal. She was consistently there to refill drinks and was very helpful. In face, she memorized over half of our names.
I ended up ordering the ahi tuna salad, there was so much salad I could barely eat it all. the ahi tuna itself was fantastic. the only thing I did not like about this dish was the chopped up mint leaves throughout the salad. I thought that it had an over powering taste.
Overall, I liked it here and I would come back again
Was in Edmonton for the weekend and decided to get some friends and family together for dinner. We tried earls in the west first however it had about a hour and a half wait for our party of 11... Saturday night in Edmonton. We eventually ended up at Joeys and the wait was only a little over 30 minutes. I have never been to Joeys in the west, however it's a nice place and the food is enjoyable. Appetizer wise we went with the wings, sweet potato fries and some chicken thing? It was good though not much in portion to price. Still I knew to expect this so we ordered 2x of each. I made the mistake of ordering ethnic food in a non ethnic Restutant. The butter chicken sounded like a good idea and it was okay, just bland which is to be expected in a chain Restutant that caters to a wide target audience. It was not bad just not something is order again as a burger would of no doubt been better. The naan that came with it was good, the papper(? Hard rotti) was weird and the rice was not good. Everyone elses seemed to enjoy their food do that good. The waiter was good and did a good job of dealing with a large group.
Excellent! Had a wonderful lunch with my wife. Highly recommend the Viva Salad and Baja fish tacos.
This is my go to place where I know my food will be good. Haven't been dissapointed yet.
Nice Private Room. We went here for a work lunch for 9 people and reserved the private room. It's right behind the hostess stand. The private room was great because this restaurant can get loud, which is difficult for a large group. The menu has a lot to offer so everyone was able to find something to order, and I think everyone was satisfied with their meal. I like the Fish Tacos, light and not greasy; and the Warm Crab & Goat Cheese Dip is a delicious appetizer.
Thank you Tara! You made our night!. After a disasterous evening at the L2 Grill at WEM, we came to Joey's for dessert. We were not sure if the dining area was still open or not but when we asked one of the waitresses at the bar side, she made some inquires and we were seated right away in the dining area. We were greeted by our friendly waitress, Tara, who actually looked happy to serve us. We had the long island icetea with slush in it, 2 apple pie with maple icecream and an chocolate souffle for dessert. They drinks were refreshing and tasty. The chocolate souffle was like a piece of chocolate heaven, nice and light oozing with melted dark chocolate. The apple pie was delicious and we loved that they used puff pastry as a crust which made it so flaky and the maple icecream which added a nice touch of homemade yumminess to their their version of apple pie. We had told Tara earlier about our dinner at the L2 grill and that we were there celebrating 2 b-days that evening. She was sorry that we had such a bad experience. She must have told whoever was plating our desserts that it was our b-days cos when she brought out our desserts, HAPPY BIRTHDAY was written on the plate. Thank you Tara for making our evening end with a happy note. We will be back to Joey's, to enjoy the great service and the beautiful decor. Next time I am going to request a table near that pool!!!
Food took a while. Had a party of 7 people. Getting the food take a long time. There was a yam in our crab and goat cheese dip :P When my girlfriend got her lobster raviolo it was cold :P also the plates they gave to us for our appetizers were dirty, they gave us new ones. When we ordered the monty carlo coffee they couldnt make the cream for it. They took off the coffee and lobster raviolo and 10% off our bill for all the misfortunes we had that night :P the food and drinks were good, pleasant waiter and manager.
The supersonic gin and tonic is awesome!
Not Too Bad. We (family of 5 + 2 friends) went to Joey's Grill about a month ago for a birthday dinner. We weren't in a hurry or particularly hungry so I can't say much about the service besides the fact it was quite friendly and the lovely lady was patient with our indecisive crowd.
The Ahi Tuna Salad seemed to be a family hit. Not what you'd expect from a grillbut it is quite yummy! You can't go wrong with the ribs either.
If you can, get a table on the patio. It is spacious, ceilings are higher and you will enjoy the water fountain in the middle of the room.
It's not our favourite restaurant, but we liked it there and will probably return in the future.
Excellent!. Great food, not so great service. Nice atmosphere too. I will go back and avoid peak hours.
I sometimes go gets for lunch. I had their club sandwhich and house salad. The bun was a burger bun. And the chicken breast was slightly bland. I would eat their burgers though as they are pretty tasty. Service was great as our food was served quickly and our waitress was very friendly. I don't mind going here but you have to be careful of what you order ad some of the food is good and some of the food is pretty average or slightly below
