Late lunch today at this italian restaurant, deli and comer store. First thing you notice is that this place smells great! Not fancy but friendly staff and clean tables. Chicken Parmesan, manicotti, meatballs and pasta of the day are ready and waiting for you to pick. We both choose manicotti which is two home made pasta rolls of beef and cheese baked in the oven with more cheese and sauce. Flavors are great, pasta is cooked perfectly and all this for under $17.00 for two for lunch!!!!! Great value, Great flavors, great staff. Highly recommend this family run restaurant!
Saccomanno hosted 60 of us for a 5 course dinner. The food was great, although we probably ate too much. The pace of service was perfect for our group, and at $35/person the value was exceptional.
IMPRESSED!!! The lasagna was dynamite, pizza was scrumptious and I'm definitely coming back here again! Best Italian food I've had so far in the city. I'll be back here on a more regular basis.

Last night was our reservation only dinner at Saccomanno's. It was not your typical visit to the Saccomanno's simple lunch orientated restaurant, with counter service salad, pasta, pizza and other Italian dishes.
Last night was a reservation only 5 course meal all for only $35.00 per person.
Our starter came on a wood plank appetizer platter, covered with 4 great appetizers, house pickled eggplant on homemade flatbread pizza, the best arancini (fried rice balls) I have ever tasted, perfectly golden and seasoned. Shaved porchetta and parmigiano cheese received a spot on the tasting board. Second was a perfectly cooked al dente spaghetti, served with a simple tomato sauce, not over powered by too many flavors, it was the kind of dish that would be whipped up by a Nonna (grandma) on a Sunday get together with the family. Following the first pasta dish was my girlfriends favorite, ricotta gnocchi with a Gorgonzola cream sauce. Typically gnocchi are made with a potatoe base, where these were ricotta cheese. The texture was unreal and melted in your mouth, I defenatly enjoied them but not as much as the next course... Then out came the flank steak, locally grass fed, dry aged and cooked to a perfect medium rare, so tender, that a steak knife was not even nesassary. This beautiful peice of meat was accompanied by a balsamic arugula salad, topped with shaved Parmigiano Reggiano cheese and looked as good as it tasted. Finally dessert (if you still had room left) was a strawberry sorbet, served along side a bombe, which is a fluffy pillow of rich and tender fried pastry dough, rolled in sugar and filled with velvety Nutella, it was unreal!
Francesco (owner and chef) let us know that every Friday and Saturday night, the 5 course reservation only dinners always offer different menu items. If you would like to have an amazing 5 course meal with someone special, or are planning a family event (birthday, engagement, baptism, get together) this is the place to do it, you will not be disappointed or be leaving hungry.

Great restaurant don't let the casualness push you away we went in on a Saturday night with my wife and 3 week old son and were welcomed with open arms by our server and his grandma an grandpa and his father did the cooking a real family affair which is really refreshing
The food was terrific we had a Caesar half a litre of wine a pizza and lasagna to go for 46$ and it was all amazing but the service and friendly service will bring us back !!
Have eaten here for the past.... I have eaten here for the past fifteen years and one thing always remains the same... The food is delicious authentic Italian and the service is impeccable.
You can either dine in or take your food to go and they have a small grocery store attached to the eating area, if you feel like cooking for yourself.
Their menu usually consists of Parmesan chicken, cannelloni's, pasta of the day and of course pizza.
For around between $10-$15 you will be well fed and have leftovers. The cost of a pizza is greater than a franchise pizza, but so is the taste. It is probably three inches thick with loads of toppings.
Hands down, if you want authentic Italian, great service and low cost, Saccomanno's is the place to go.
$5 lunch special! Bowl of baked pasta with a couple meatballs and bun today. Good lunch and a good deal.
Family values. Great honest food. Like visiting a favorite Aunt's house, the hosts pamper you with service and home style delicious food. Affordable large portions. Nothing lacking while you are there stock up on hard to find Italian ingredients from the store. Good prices. Our highest praise. Please visit these relatives you never knew you had!
I have been going to saccomanno's since I was a kid. Great pizza, great pasta. Don't miss the grocery lots of awesome things in there. Homemade pasta is a must.
We got the pizza special with truffle oil and mushrooms. The dough is airy and crispy. Very delicious. Arugula beet salad was a good portion. They have a variety of flavoured ice creams to chose from. They are busy for dinner so I recommend booking a reservation. The atmosphere is cozy with free parking ;) we would come again.
I gotta say i fully enjoy coming here. Ive always wanted to try authentic nepolitan pizza & i found ittt 🙏 if you dont mind waiting a bit for your food once its ordered this place is for you. That just tells me its msfe fresh to order & i can tell the cooks and management care about the quality of good cause its excellent every time. When im able to i come here & bring a friend also so they can enjoy it as well. I would also suggest trying their gelato they have little spoons for tasting before you purchase one and i dont see that at many other places. Love love looooove

Got a pizza and a salad plus some drinks. The pizza crust was thin and the outer edges were nicely crisp on the outside but soft on the inside. The ratio of crust to toppings was really good. Got the fungi mist with the added meat. Very good salty meat to creamy cheese balance. Could have had some more mushrooms though. Loved it with chili oil on top.
The kale ceaser salad with chicken was a great portion and really good! The kale was not baby kale but it was still so tender and delicate in flavour. Not bitter. They also cut the kale pretty small which made for easier eating (but slower eating haha)
Had Gelato at the end and it was wonderful. Great selection and they let you have samples. Very creamy and fresh.
Took a star off for wishing there were a bit more toppings in the pizza mushroom-wise, but also gendered single stall washrooms (boooooooo).
Very cute place. Nice decor. Quick service with very friendly staff. A bit loud with the talking and the music, but I don't have great hearing.
Had brunch here for Mother's Day. Good breakfast choices - I had a skillet and my wife had fruit waffles. Service was good despite being busy.
We are a family of 4 and ordered 4 pizzas to share. We ended up with a little leftover which was perfect.
They were amazing. The Rosso was my favourite.
Service was great and I love the atmosphere and vibe of the place.

I have been going to Rosso’s ever since it opened which was somewhere going on 5-6 years I believe. I’ve been going here because it has the following:
1. Friendly staff who remember your name and know what’s great on the menu
2. The food!!! Best pizzas around and literally, the best avocado toast anywhere!!
3. Food and service consistency; I’ve literally never had a bad experience with the food not tasting fresh or the servers providing a wonderful experience. Every time I’ve come I always leave smiling.
4. Location - nestled in the heart of Garneau and the University area, there are amazing walking trails. Perfect for either stopping in before a hike or even better, stopping in after a long walk - especially during the summer months.
5. The owner. I’ve known him for a long time and one thing is true - he cares about every single customer that walks through his doors. And so, I care about supporting his venture as a local business person in Edmonton.
