Absolutely delicious. My new favorite asain cuisine restaurant. Great service and great quality dishes. Price is on the higher side but well worth it.

Came here for dinner with some co-workers, Hot Pot 97 was accommodating of our large group and the service was very good. The food came out fast and pretty fresh. Overall I loved this place and I would come back in a heat beat.

I finally managed to try this place last night (Thursday). The place was not packed but had a healthy number of customers. It was perfect. Unlike many of the hotpot places in the city, this place is very spacious. I could fit all the dishes and sauces on the table without needing any sort of cart to supplement the table. So this was a huge plus for me because you can imagine at a hotpot you normally order quite a bit and they often come out all around the same time. Another great highlight is that they do not charge for plain chicken broth. Many hotpots in the city used to offer free plain broth, but now a days most of them charge the standard $2 for any broth. By the way, the dinner price is $27.99. This price is consistent with most other popular hotpot joints. As far as their offerings, in comparison to Asian Hot Pot Express and Urban Shabu, they are about the same if not offer a little bit more than the others - but not a huge difference. Quality wise, on my visit I found everything to be clean and fresh (this is highly subjective because it's very possible I just caught them on a good day - but from my experience it was superb). Their sauce section is well-stocked and tidy.Like every hotpot place I go to, I ordered quite a bit of marbled beef (about 15 plates total). I didn't waste and I finished everything I ordered... The owners didn't raise a stink and did not do anything to make me feel like I am no longer welcome. From my other experiences at other hotpot places, they'd either "forget" or take a long time to bring out subsequent orders, and in extreme cases they'd serve me "black beef". Anyways, no issues with this place. Service was quick and courteous. Owner was very perceptive, and pretty much whenever my soup got low, he'd tell the waitress to top me up. Sheesh, never have I been to a hot pot place that actually cares this much. They got me right in the feels this time around. I imagine this place gets super busy on weekends. For me I'd prefer to go during the weekdays when its less busy, so I can enjoy a peaceful hotpot meal. Pro tip: Go with the Free Chicken Broth then add flavor from the sauce bar. For example, Kimchi soup $2... They have Kimchi on the menu and other hot chili sauces/oils from sauce bar... DIY and save $2! P.S Their mantou (deep fried chinese bun) is best in town!
Been to Hot Pot 97 a few times. I definitely think the lunch is much better compared to dinner due to prices. The broth and sauce selection is great. The menu could've been expanded now that I can compare to Chilli Hot Pot where they have appetizers and more items for hot pot. When it gets packed, the steam is just too much for the restaurant. Service is ok.

I've heard many people sign the praises of 97 hot pot over the years and i finally got the chance to try it out. We had a big group of us and only a few of us had ever been to a hot pot restaurant. Once everyone got up to speed on the process of hot pot we were off to the races.
We had a table of 8 and nobody seemed to sure what to order, so i ordered most of the first round. Which given it was 8 of us and i'd never seen the portions it turned out to be the only round. I managed to order enough for likely 12 people. But we were up to the challenge.
We ordered a variety of different soup bases. I personally did a half and half with kimchi on one side and szechuan spicy chicken on the other. I, along with everyone else at my table was very happy with our soup bases. I will say that szechuan broth is not for the faint of heart. The first 30 minutes of the meal it was burn your throat spicy, but halfway through they top up your soup bases with water so it doesn't boil dry and after that it is considerably less potent. I was a bit disappointed in that to be honest. Took a bit away from the meal.
One of the best parts about this place is the speed. We ordered a round of drinks filled out our selection sheet and within 15 minutes we had a table so full of food we were stacking plates and needed a cart to go next to our table to handle the overflow of dishes. To start with, you don't need to do what i did at all. It was a mistake ordering that much in one shot, there is no limit to how many times you can order more food and more smaller rounds would have been the better option.
If i described every plate this would review would be longer than most novels, I'll do my best to summarize. The sliced meats were really nice, break down great in the soup and cook in seconds. Some of the other meats took a bit longer but it was always worth the wait. The tendon was and is one of my favorites and it did not disappoint. You could almost forget it in the soup and grab it later almost falling apart and filled with flavor.
The dumplings and seafood were no slouches either. They married very nicely with everyone's soup bases and none of it had any unpleasant fishy taste or odor. The veggies, noodles and ground meat balls were also just as you'd hope. fresh veggies, the noddles were very good although nobody ate many with all the other options on the table. I don't think ill bother with them next time.
Overall this place is great, Service was prompt and polite. No complaints at all. The food came out quick and the soup bases were packed with flavor. Other than the water top up halfway through the meal everything was good as gold. Those of you that enjoy a more hands of type of meal this is the place. Hot pot is an experience in itself and this is a great place to do it. I'd recommend this place to anyone with an open mind to food. If you like traditional meat and potatoes skip this place all together, but if your up for an experience then look no further.

A great hot pot place, destined to warm you up if it's one of those cold Edmonton winter days! Unfortunately the place itself can also get very hot and steamy (even in the deepest winter), so be aware that your clothes will smell like hot pot afterwards. The food is great though, you order whatever you want to use for your hot pot, and each person at the table gets their own pot, for which you can also adjust the heat individually. Will definitely return!
Just had our annual xmas party there this past Friday. Excellent food, Excellent service. Quality and freshness was perfect. They don't skimp on anything. Some places I've been to in the past try to save $$ by giving you smaller portions of the more expensive items. Not the case here. Clean and inviting atmosphere. We had a group of 20 ppl this Friday and it didn't phase the staff at all. These ppl take pride in this establishment, we'll definitely be back soon.
This place just keeps getting better and busier. They upgraded to new tables that have built in ventilation so the steam is actually sucked into the table and filtered out.

If your looking for a decent all you can eat hot pot (also known as shabu shabu) you've come to the right place.
Large interior setting, tables are setup with electronic individual hot pots. A menu of over a hundred items for you to choose ranging from meat, seafood, vegetables and others.
You should try the cooked items found in the chef's specials (it's own smaller menu). The skewers were very good.
Overall it was very good. Good value for the money. Would recommend trying.
Amazing hotpot. The staff is always friendly. The food and broth never takes very long to come out to your table. The restaurant is warm even when it's cold. The renovations in the place are amazing. This is the best hotpot in the area and I always return. I have been there at least a dozen times and have not had one bad experience. The staff is always very quick to remove hobos
Delicious! It was our first time visiting 97 Hotpot and we will be going back for sure!! Everyone was so friendly and the food was amazing.
A great selection of things to from traditional to modern North American. Awesome staff with a great sense of humor. You make your own sauces, with over 25 different ingredients!

April 2022 Update-
Still my favourite hot pot in all my travels. Great value even though prices have increased slightly. Lunch special for 2 was under $40 for great quality broths, ingredients and generous portions of meat. Sauce bar is always tidy and fully stocked. We always leave fully satisfied. Service is the best as they treat us like old friends.
Sept 2021 Update- So good to come back and eat here after an extended shut down for covid. Still amazing service even though some original staff have moved on. Inside has been renovated to add additional ventilation, booths and upgraded hotplates. Didn't get many photos as the kids couldn't sit still while eating but the lunch special was awesome, meat servings generous and great quality. Looking forward to doing the ayce one night. Still our favourite hot pot in town, 5/5 stars.
Our favorite hot pot restaurant. This place has a great and well stocked sauce bar, the best service and great ingredients. Might I add that this is the cleanest hot pot restaurant in town. Even though I mentioned great service already, the staff here are so awesome and friendly and this is the main reason we frequent here weekly.

This is a really good place to come eat. I normally come during the week and it's not too busy. Since I was eating with a few of my friends, I came in a Saturday and highly recommend to reserve a table. Good thing I did. It could be because they were busy, bit I did ha eto go see about our soups as they didn't come yet after a long time. We also had to wait a while for our orders too. Oh well! Hopefully it'll be better next time. I would still recommend this place for lunch/dinner.
