my first time eating ramen, it was delicious, spectacular and I can't wait to eat it again!
Awesome place! Great flavours, friendly staff, clean restaurant. Definitely coming back!
The veggie ramen is AMAZING. The flavour profile of the broth is so complex and the whole combo of veggies is to die for. BEST RAMEN IN THE CITY!!
Friendly greeting by a very nice looking gent
Offered a seat and a beverage promptly.
Lavatories are clean and well kept.
Now I wait for the noms..
Update tbp..
Was looking forward to trying this ramen place and I wasnt disappointed! Minimalistic decor, a line up for the limited seating and a delicious savory scent greets you at the door. I think they were short staffed tonight, but the staff still endeavored to check on tables with a smile. We ordered all 3 available appetizers (there was more on the online menu but I think they streamlined it down since), and bowls of tonkatsu and tonkatsu black garlic ramen.
We also tried a guava beer- sapporo beer sweetened slightly with a hint of guava juice. Would have preferred a stronger taste of guava, but refreshing none the less.
The ramens came out before the appetizers but we were hungry and just dug in. The tonkatsu broth is rich, fatty and delectable. The tonkatsu with black garlic is just pure happiness in a bowl. Paired with toothsome ramen noodles that had a great chew without being too chewy or hard, and housemade pickled onions, green onions, roasted nori, crunchy bamboo shoots, creamy soft boiled egg and thi but satisfying pieces of lean pork shoulder, fatty pork belly and a piece of bacon (yup bacon!), Nudoru's take on the traditional bowl of tonkatsu ramen hits it out of the park.
The octopus fritters was an interesting mass up of corn fritters with takoyaki balls. The sauces were tasty, as was the corn fritter that had bits of corn and octopus, but I'm still a bigger fan of traditional takoyaki. The seafood okonomiyaki or japanese pancake was nicely executed with this version being on the creamier side on the interior, but dont expect it to be crispy on the exterior. The gyoza made with Irving Farm Berkshire pork, asian cabbage and turnip were nicely pan fried to a golden brown, and had a hint of sweetness to the pork. I didnt love the black vinegar soy dipping sauce, as there was a strong taste of beer that lent a note of bitterness to it (not sure if that was intentional or if some beer was accidentally spilled).
Overall, Nudoru definitely takes the reins as overall best ramen in yeg, and well worth the wait in line. I may go for delivery next time to beat the line ups and slurp ramen in the comfort of home and my pjs.
I definitely recommend going to Nudoru Ramen Bar (also, props to the name haha)!
The food was pretty good, especially the ramen (obviously). The broth and stock were very flavorful and rich. We tried the shoyu, the spicy miso, and the dragon. The pork belly had a great umami taste, and the noodles had a nice bounce.
We also had the octopus fritters (kind of like takoyaki, although different in the style of the batter and cooking method) It's sauce was tdf and the corn complemented the fritter batter very well!
We had the gyoza too, which was amazingly juicy! Although, it has a slightly different flavour than traditional gyoza.
The service was very good, the decoration was beautiful, and the ambience was comforting :)

Don't skip a chance to try their steamed bun sliders, or "bungers"! Nudoru’s high quality ingredients, cool Korean influence, tantalizing appetizer menu and easy build-your-own ramen choices would make them a fun place to introduce friends and family to some things they’ve never tried before. My only complaint is that considering the restaurant was nearly empty, I think the servers would do well to provide a pitcher of water or be a little more attentive with the refills to help diners deal with all the spicy and salty dishes. Other than that, the service was friendly, the booths were cozy and our mission of warming up was easily accomplished on one of the coldest evenings I’ve ever experienced in Edmonton. I highly recommend you check out Nudoru the next time you’re craving a comforting bowl of noodles or some modern Japanese-style snacks
Duck in here on a cold day. A hearty and satisfying warm bowl of ramen is just what a frigid Edmonton winter calls for. I ended up in here on a particularly frosty afternoon and I was very pleased with my experience. I ordered the spicy dragon noodle dish, be warned this actually is spicy, like really spicy. The staff will actually warn you that they aren't messing around with the heat, so don't gripe if you get it and find it excessive, but for those of us who love the heat it actually delivers. What I really really loved about it though, is that it's not a dish that all you taste is the spiciness, it is a good, complex broth. They don't just deliver on the broth though, all the ingredients are quality and lend to the dish in an interesting way. The noodles texture is firm and chewy enough to have a gratifying mouthfeel, the meats are tender and savory, etc. Mine lone issue is the price. Maybe I am just untutored in ramen but isn't this stuff supposed to be cheap? And it's not like we're talking about pho, with its beef and laborious prep times. I know what goes into these dishes and while you are paying for quality I still think these meals should come in just a hair cheaper. a buck cheaper and it would have been right where I would have assumed I would have been paying for it.
If you're coming to Nudoru you better be coming for the ramen. They have the all the standard varieties and a few in house specialties too. I tried the Dragon. I'm fairly good with heat but with the waitress's suggestion I didn't get the hottest version. This was a good call because they're not lying, their soup is HOT (finally a place that lives up to the warning). Ramen was good but not the best I've had. Why was the soft boiled egg cold!?! Gyoza were nothing special. Service was fair.
This is our favourite ramen spot in the city. After spending a month in Japan last year, we were craving ramen so badly. We didn't want just any ramen though - we were craving the springy al dente homemade noodles and the savoury/rich broths we had grown accustomed to. Nudoru is the only place we can get that fix! We will continue to come here for their consistency and speed. Nothing warms you up better on a cold day. The dragon bowl is our favourite, but I also love the variety of broths and toppings they offer for the build your own option. I would say this spot is a ramen-only spot for us; we don't get appetizers here. They do one thing very well, so I'd say stick to ramen while you're here and you can't go wrong.
This place has a seriously nice decor that will suck you right in as you enter. It is a comfortable and cozy place to eat a bowl of ramen. It is a lot nicer and cleaner looking than Ninja ramen down the block. I ordered the octopus fritters and they were just OK. It was a lot more under-flavoured batter than anything. Sure, there was tako (octopus) inside, but it was overwhelmed by the mediocre batter. The tonkotsu ramen was OK. Same old Edmonton ramen like nomiya, ninja, etc. Not much to write home about. I also ordered this super spicy ramen and I should have listened to the servers because it was spicy in a way that was not edible. It's nice as a youtube spicy ramen challenge maybe. It reminded me of spicy Northern Chicken that was all spice but no flair. Give this place a try if you've run out of ideas or if you are sick of all the other places on Whyte.
This would have to be my fav ramen place so far. Good location. Nice interior. Good service. I like that there is a vegetarian option for their ramen. I'm not sure if I enjoyed their appetizers, but I would definitely recommend the ramen.
Decent price and size ramen. I ended up customizing mine and picking the toppings I like. I ended up going for the spicy miso soup base which was pleasant and flavourful. Not bad but nothing too special.
Satisfactory ramen. Bao also good. Overall what you'd find in a typical ramen restaurant; would come back and worth a try but doesn't stand out amongst other ramen shops.
Best ramen in the city. The broth is delicious and it's a welcome addition to old Strathcona. Staff are efficient and service is quick. The salads are delicious too
The tonkotsu was the best ramen I've had in yeg. Decent pricing, cool atmosphere, and friendly staff make it well worth a try. I'm surprised it doesn't have a higher rating.
A couple weeks ago, I finally decided to go to Nudoru Ramen Bar on Whyte. They opened up in the spring last year, and now with my upcoming trip to Japan, I thought I’d get in the mood to plan my trip with a little bit of ramen. It’s located on 105th street and Whyte, and as always, parking on Whyte can be a bit tricky. There’s street parking on both sides, but it can be difficult to find a spot, and there’s always parking on the side streets beside Whyte.
Very friendly service and they were especially accommodating of our small kid.
The ramen was a build-to-order, which was pretty nice. The shoyu ramen with chicken that I ordered was great.
The "tapas" were also quite good, especially the kimchi bunger.
All in all, one of the better ramen bars we have been to in YEG.
Finally! It's about time I've found a place in Edmonton that actually has good ramen. This seems to be a popular rant for Edmontonians: why is there no amazing ramen places in YEG? Yuzen is great, but considering they're all the way in St. Albert, they don't really count. Not to mention they ONLY serve ramen on Saturdays for lunch, and they're not the absolute best I've ever had, in any case. Nudoru is not the best I've ever tried in my life either, but they're pretty damn good-and that makes them my new favourite ramen place in the city.
I've been here twice now, and I have to say I'm surprised the ratings aren't higher. Nudoru has a great little setup on Whyte Avenue, and they've been open for about 6 months. Last week I was in the mood for comfort noodles and decided to try this place out for lunch as the majority of reviews were favourable. I was delighted with my first experience and returned a second time later in the week with a larger party for dinner.
What I really love about Nudoru is the "build-your-own-ramen" concept. While it is a tad on the pricey side, I find it entirely worthwhile. The first time I tried the Shoyu ramen with pork shoulder, and green tea, which cost me about $17. The broth was delicious, the meat portions were generous and I adored the ideal firm texture of the noodles. Being able to pick my own toppings was an added bonus, and I felt that the bowl was the perfect size.
I decided to return later in the week with additional diners and tried the Miso ramen with pork belly. I also sampled their beef tataki and hot sake. I wasn't overly enthused with having to pour the hot sake myself without a towel, but the flavour was pleasant. The beef tataki was unique, with almonds, fried onions and a different sauce. It was really tasty, though just a little on the salty side. Overall though, everything was well done and my party was happy with their first experience as well.
Both times the service was quick and efficient. I appreciated the immediate water refills that were received without having to ask. The food came quickly and the staff were all polite and friendly.
My only complaint about the location is that Whyte Avenue sucks for parking. That and the restaurant is kind of hard to notice. I had to really look for the sign and even the second time I almost missed it. Other than that though, I will definitely come back again soon-just not during rush hour.
This place has only just opened up recently and someone told me it was not that good so of course I had to go try it. 😛 I rarely trust the words of others, especially on noodles and this is one of the cases where I was right. We tried beef tataki and takoyaki balls to start and then finished off with ramen. Ok... the beef tataki and takoyaki balls were REALLY DELICIOUS!!! They disappeared instantly if you know what I mean. Now I concede that the ramen was not super amazing absolutely crazy good but it was hearty and good. I really have had much worse in edmonton. The pork belly could have been more tender but I liked the atmosphere so much that I don't mind. Give it a try!
Delicious broths. Tasty noodles. Yummy snacks. Nice staff. For a new place they're already nailing it in a lot of ways. The build-your-own-burger ramen is a great way to order too.
I had a great experience and Nudoru. I got the chili gomae ramen and it had an amazing broth and perfectly cooked noodles. I also got the octopus fritters and they were super tasty and the sauce was delicious! Great service and ambience as well!
I was very excited to try out another new ramen place! We went on a Friday after work before the rush (there was a big line up when we were leaving). The wooden decor was cute, the staff was nice. You can pick from a list of ramen or customize your own, like I did. Everything is made in house and tasted good. It was filling and I found myself getting quite full about 3/4 of the way through the bowl. They gave a surprisingly large amount of meat and the noodles were thick and chewy. Overall a positive experience!
Amazing ramen so much flavour packed into those bowls. Soooo good. And the tataki is the best i have had! Great place needs more publicity..
Haven't had ramen in awhile so my friend and I decided to try this place on whyte. We ordered the octopus fritter and beef tataki to share and created our own ramen. Both the share plates are a big hit with us. They are a unique and delicious twist on the usual appetizers at Japanese restaurants. I ordered the spicy miso ramen with pork shoulder, pork belly, egg, scallions, and black fungus. The noodles are very well done, the pork was good but not the melt in your mouth texture I usually expect with ramen. The other toppings is just your standard toppings and there weren't that many to choose from to make interesting combinations. The soup was good, they put in enough miso to give it that full bodied creamy flavour but not so much that the soup becomes overly salty. The staff was friendly and attentive. All in all I had a very good experience there.
Nudoru is an excellent option for ramen in Edmonton and, most notably, Whyte Ave. The interior is very well done and the food is the same. I would say that if you are in the area, Nudoru is a must for ramen.
Great ramen and great service! Get the Dragon and make your day better. It is wonderful, tender noodles great broth. It is freaking heaven in a bowl.
Hii! I'm Anita~ I'm from/living in Edmonton, AB, Canada. I'm interested in many things. Most importantly, I love to eat, eat, & eat, & travel (& Kdrama/Kpop)~ so this is a personal blog about my food & travel stories~ I hope you'll enjoy reading my posts, & visit some of the places I post about. Pls give me some feedback, or other comments/questions: missguomeiyun@gmail.com. Thankyouu :)
After having a bad ramen experience elsewhere, I was pleased to discover that Nudoru had much tastier ramen than I was anticipating. I had the chilli goma and the broth was very flavourful but not too busy, and the arugula and pesto really went well together. My friend ordered the steam buns and thoroughly enjoyed them. This place is priced fairly and has an adorable interior with a very cool dragon mural.
For being in Canada, the ramen is exceptional. The head chef really added a personal touch to all the dishes, and the consistency is impeccable. The service is slow but this is to be expected. The quality of the ingredients is very high and is very noticeable. The menu is a little difficult to decipher and the waitress was not helpful explaining the choices.
Really great food and service. Love the style of meat they do in their noodle bowls. Really well done and has lots of flavour. Their broth is very tasty also and well worth it
A few friends wanted to drop by this place to find out what ramen is. When it comes to ramen. Local ramen just simply can't be compared to others places in Canada let alone Japan.
Service was good. Seated pretty quickly with the place 1/2-3/4 full and still ppl coming in and leaving. Had no problems ordering and was checked up on my various ppl
Food wise was solid. The noodles were done the way it should. A little on the harder side. Broth had good color, texture, flavor wise it was good but I wouldn't mind having more punch to it. The Egg was done perfect as well. Though I say the egg could have been larger. Pork shoulder was large and nice and soft.
The mural. It's huge and its a center piece of the place. True hand drawn art with lots of thought is way better than photoshopped or printed art. Nicely done by a pro.
I love that this place is on whyte ave and a great addition. I Can easily get an ice cream, bbt or yogurt after.
This place is the bomb dot com, succulent broth, little delicous things, an egg cooked to perfection, I could slurp them noodles all day long.
If you think you can handle spicy food... Think again. The dragon ramen KILLED my tongue, it was good but just too spicy to even finish the entire bowl. My family tried the build your own ramen, using miso and spicy miso as their soup base. They enjoyed their soups. The noodles are unique compared to other ramen places such as nomiya or yuzen, they are slightly thinner. In saying that, they were cooked perfectly to my liking with some 'bounce'.
The star of our visit was definitely the gyoza. It came out extremely hot and had great flavour!
Overall enjoyed our visit and will be back.
Due to a surprise window of nice weather today, I ended up on Whyte Ave; which gave me a chance to try out Nudoru!
With the amount of drool worthy instagram snaps. #YEGFOOD The slurp worthy noodles and the burgers were what my heart was yearning
for.
We got to the resturant around 2PM, right after the lunch rush I'm assuming as it was pretty quiet. We were greeted
and seated immediatley. The interior is beau-ti-ful; clean, and simple approach. The exposed ceiling gives it a nice open feeling while, the wood and mural mix adds an asian twist.
We ordered the GOBO fries ($6) Which was Crispy burdock root with their own house spice;
This appetizer was definitley different. Thin fried strips presented with a ton of seasoning; the looks were deceiving. After the first bite
I was disappointed. Really bland. Not really impressed with this one- would not order again.
Though the first dish was not a table favorite, second appi was the Octopus Fritters ($9) We all really enjoyed this one!
It was crispy- and moist and there was corn hidden inside this little ball of deliciousness. My god, I
should have taken a pic to show you how good the inside looked- but hey, Now you know you need to try it.
For the main show, I created my own bowl; Consisting of Shoyu/pork shoulder/beansprouts/scallion/soft boiled egg.
Let's start by stating that I'm in love with their broth, it had a depth of flavours and wasn't watery at all. Best broth I've had so far in Edmonton for sure.
The noodles had a nice chew; and the meat was sooo tender. To make your own bowl was ($13) but you can also add additional toppings or extra meat ($1 - $3)
Such a good price for what you'd be tasting!
Service was great- we had 2 different servers tag teaming our table. No complaints! Not a long wait for food/refills or the bill.
I didn't get to try the burger today; planning my next visit soon!
Not bad for Edmonton. Definitely an upgrade from what we have here ! Really enjoyed the texture of the noodles. Average bowl, good size for the price, however I didn't like that I had to choose green onions as a topping, for ramen I would assume that it would just come with the bowl. I also felt that the toppings were small as well, I expected to get a full egg not only half.
A very satisfying bowl of ramen, but left me wanting more. My friend and I decided to stop by on a warm Saturday night to try their ramen. Around 7pm, the restaurant was somewhat busy - about 80% full. We were seated and given our Q water while deciding what to get. Its funny that they never told us how to order because we weren't sure what to do after they gave us a pencil. Do we customize our ramen and then hand the sheet in to the front like you would at Famoso? Do we wait for them to come back and take our order after filling it in? This was a bit confusing but luckily a server came back a few minutes after when we were confused and answered our questions and took our orders.
My friend and I split their Nudoru Bungers, and we each ordered our own customized ramen. The Nudoru Bungers were good. The pork belly went well with the sweet miso sauce, and it tasted like the bao's that you'd get in Asia (but a lot smaller). The ramen was slightly above average. I got the Shio Ramen with pork belly, shoulder, sweet corn, bean sprouts, and Nori (seaweed). The noodle itself was good as it was chewy and not soggy/overcooked. The meat (especially the pork belly) was thinly sliced and left a satisfied and not too greasy or bloated feeling after eating it. However, I found the broth to be bland and also noted that they forgot my seaweed. Reading the other reviews, this does not seem to be uncommon, with orders being mixed up (or in my case items being forgotten). I really enjoyed their decor and atmosphere, it had a very modern and simple look to it. Service was sub-par, twice in a minute we were offered water by different waiters.
This place has serious potential if they can fix several problems (namely service and getting food orders correctly). I really enjoyed their large portion size and variety of items and look forward to trying it again sometime in the future when they have hopefully sorted out these issues.
Tasty, affordable, and easily accessible to Ramen newbies. Nudoru's "create-your-own" ramen option made it so everyone could get the items they wanted, and none of the ones they don't (I'm looking at you black mushrooms). I added sweet corn, shallots, and a soft boiled egg to my spicy miso with pork belly and it was all quite good. Broth was flavorful and reasonably spicy, as well the noodles had a distinct flavour and consistency. The only issue for me was the quality of the pork belly, which seemed more raw than usual and overly fatty. However this may be a reasonable compromise for the awesome price point.
Decor, atmosphere, and service were all positives in my book. I'll absolutely be going back for more ramen combinations in the near future.
Best ramen bowl in town so far flavourful broth, tender noodles and I love having schichimi togorashi at the table to sprinkle on my soup! I would like to see a few more broth or protein options but so far so good!
Great late night eats here! Really enjoyed the Ramen from flavorful broth to noodles cooked just right. Friendly service and the place was packed at 9 pm on a Thursday. Highly recommend!
Wandering on Whyte Ave to decide what to eat and ended up here because I heard it was a new ramen shop. First off, I am not an expert ramen eater but I really enjoyed it and it was delicious. The broth (shio) was seasoned enough for my preference while the noodle itself was not too soft which was also great. I really liked the wooden decor and artwork they had done on the wall. Service was also very good and price is reasonable ($13.00). Will definitely come back for more ramen!
Edmonton can officially welcome a new ramen bar to its food scene, Nudoru Japanese Noodle + Tapas opening this past weekend. I’ve been keeping a watchful eye on the Whyte Avenue space ever since I heard through the grapevine of a new ramen bar. Not only were both eyes on the space, I darn near went crazy after I heard a rumour that Nudoru was importing in a noodle machine from Taiwan. Made in-house noodles? Unheard of in Edmonton!
Me and my girlfriend were strolling on Whyte one day and we stumbled upon Nudoru. Curious we decided to go in for a quick bite. This place is brand spanking new, it was a Sunday and they were doing their soft opening. Place looks very nice, they have this amazing looking mural of a dragon made of noodles which is pretty dope.
Got seated very quickly in a cozy booth. I have a fondness for places that offer Coke in glass bottles and water served in glass milk jugs for some odd reason. But we opted for their Octopus Fritters to start. Freshly made and hot, they were moist and tender. Now to the Ramen. You have a choice from 4 from the menu or you can opt to customize and make your own. I decided to make my own, you can choose whatever soup base you like, type of protein, garnishes and additional toppings if you like. I got my bowl with Shoyu base, pork belly, nori, green onion and a soft boiled egg. The soup base had a nice mellowness to it, not too salty, just enough richness to add to the noodles. People seem to over-interpret this magical elixir of liquid in Ramen as too much or not enough flavour. As long as it's not completely bland, it'll do. I had a talk with the server and a cook that came by to check on us. Everything is made in house, which I like and respect. Right down to the noodles which I loved very much. Dense and very chewy, reminds me of the noodle shops in Hong Kong. Soft boiled egg was perfectly cooked and the pork belly sliced was a lot. I was expecting little thin slices but they are massive! They need to be aware of the amount of fat on their pork belly. A bit big for some but for me I'm perfectly happy. Anyways this place is brand new and I'm sure this have their kinks to work out. When I had a chat with the server and cook I can see promise in the future if they stick to it.
