I don't usually "review" restaurants, so this one must be special. Went to Revel Bistro and Bar tonight with a friend for a late birthday dinner. We wanted to try the gnocchi poutine (not on online menu). Since my friend is vegitarian, we asked for the duck confit on the side. When the server told the chef, he said, well it also has bacon in the cassoulet, so let me make a different sauce. It was so good! My entree was the shortrib. If there are shortribs on a menu my mind can't process anything else. It's not on the online menu so I can't double check what the sides were but let's just say they were so very yummy. "Co-diner" (as they say in reviews) had the roasted brussel sprout salad and said it was heavenly. For dessert we tried the olive oil cake (also not online) which was topped with chantilly cream (as the server said, a fancy way to say vanilla whipped cream) and sorbet. Not too sweet and delightfully different. Then they also brought out, as an extra for my birthday, housemade orange gummies served on a rock that looked like half a loaf of bread, florentines, pistachio nougat and truffles served in a glass container on a bed of cacao nibs with applewood smoke. That smoke is one of the best smells I've ever experienced in any restaurant. Thank you so much Revel for a wonderful meal for my belated birthday and for the special treats!
As first time dinners, my friends and I were thoroughly impressed by our experience. From the moment of our arrival to our last goodbye, we felt warmly welcomed by the outstanding staff. Despite having a later reservation time and being the last table to leave the dining room, the staff remained patient with us and our requests. To start our evening off, we enjoyed ourselves to their broad selection of Absinthe spirits. The drink itself was highly enjoyable and the fantastic presentation made the experience all the better. Followed by a variety of high quality beers and phenomenal share plates, my friends and I found pleasure in every bite. It’s worth noting that every item on the menu functions fantastically as a share plate, and the braised beef is a prime example of this. To cap it all off was a relatively inexpensive bill. Ultimately, I recommend Revel to anyone looking for a cool and classy establishment to visit with friends or family.
Chef had a really rad take on some staple dishes. Presentation was great. The Icelandic Cod was absolutely amazing! Thankful that our server Kayla recommended it as I never would have tried it.
Kayla provided fantastic service with a very fresh and entertaining personality. Totally made the night.
The decor is awesome and layout of the restaurant is well done.
Cocktails where creative & tasty, could see this place being awesome for drinks after a long day in the office.
