Famoso is one of those super common Edmonton chain restaurants. Want cheap food that tastes decent? Famoso. Want something that everyone is okay with after spending an hour deciding where to eat? Famoso. With vegan, vegetarian, and many other types of pizzas, it's clear that they have a lot of items for almost everyone and they are usually pretty popular with many locations in Edmonton. I hadn't been to Famoso in a while so when my work had a lunch at Famoso I was excited. Getting there, whoa apparently they've changed. Gone is the concept I knew of having that piece of paper and pencil and writing in the order and bringing it up to the front. They've also laminated their menus and added in new dishes - clearly turning themselves more into a restaurant rather than the fast-food/restaurant hybrid that existed before.
I got their Spicy Thai pizzetta with tomato bisque soup (my go-to at Famoso). I unfortunately found that there was less sauce on the pizzetta and it mainly had bean sprouts and maybe one piece of chicken on each slice. They used to give so much more! Tomato bisque soup was cheesier than I remember - still filled you up though as they gave a ton!
Service was friendly and knowledgeable especially for people who had never been there before. The food also came out pretty fast considering how big our group was and how it was during the lunch rush. I don't think there was a long line to get in during the lunch, even with our big table there. All in all, recommended.
Soft chewy thin crust oven fired pizza. That about sums it up. But I'll add: flavourful hummus, tomato goodness meatballs and wait...did I mention soft chewy thin crust oven fired pizza? So yummmmmy.
Had lunch on the patio today. Great food & service (Quattro formaggi + mushrooms + chicken folks, DELISH). Mgr stopped by to check in & recommend drinks. Cocktail pitchers refreshing on hot day (cucumber Capri & limoncello lemonade....so good)
