This place is outstanding!!! I tried goat curry for the first time and I really enjoyed it!!! Chicken korma, bhindi “okra” , tandoori naan and roti, oh my goodness!!! I wish I could rate 10 stars!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
We love this place so much, that we don't even mind driving down from St. Albert! The food is always delicious, and the service is quick and friendly! We highly recommend this place to everybody! (Our server was Deep the last time we were there.)
excellent ambience, good music, good food and excellent service...very quick and friendly staff...loved it...you guys made my day...must visit
Saffron Indian Cuisine has been on my radar to try ever since I read about it in the Edmonton Journal. Oops, that was half a year ago. This little plaza has a ton of great spots including TeaCup2Go, Mi Casa Market and Wing Chicx, which are hidden on the back side of the building. You’ll spot Saffron from the main road.
A great lunch combo deal. lots of options vegetarian and chicken and lamb. Mango chicken the best. Try the butter chicken poutine and jalapeno OMG delicious and spicy
I love this place! Each time I've gone the staff has been incredibly friendly. The lunch special is a good deal and perfect size. Their butter chicken is EASILY the best in the city! 11/10 delicious.
Blatantly telling you this review is going to be totally biased. My first time ever having Indian food, and i thoroughly enjoyed dinner here, surprisingly.
Arriving on a Sundays night at around 7pm, the space is quite roomy with plenty of seating. Greeted almost immediatley and was told about the buffet and given a separate menu to order from the kitchen. (They discreetly kept pushing for us to go for the buffet)
Walking in here blindly, and staring at the menu we assumed that the individual dishes would be 1 for 1 rather than family style. We were wrong. Its family style. Would have loved for the staff to notice our struggle and give us a heads up. But whatevs.
Paneer Pakoras basically deep fried cheese, you really can't go wrong with this one. UNLESS you don't like cheese 4/5
Chicken lollipops 5/5 slight heat with each bite and totally crispy. Came with a green sauce that had a cilantro taste to it, so good!
Chicken Tikka Masala 5/5
Butter chicken 3/5
Alloo Gobi 5/5
Accompanied with saffron rice and garlic & cilantro naan BOTH WERE BOMB.
We had Gulab Jamun for dessert, which was basically dough dipped in honey. Way too sweet, did not enjoy.
The night was fine, service was in and out, wouldn't say they were at all knowledgeable nor did i enjoy the feeling of being a burden by ordering food instead of going for buffet.
A fan of Indian food now! Wouldn't come here specifically for it though.
So, came in first without seeing the 2.3 rating but saw there were 3 reviews with 5 ratings - so, instead of turning around and leaving, I decided to try even though there was just a handful of people having lunch. Glad that I decided to stay.
Great menu selection; but, went with the lunch special which was the Chicken Curry "plus" and was wowed by the overall meal. Service was attentive, ambiance and decor was very nice. So, I don't understand the low overall rating - but, will come back. (Noticed there is another location (same people?) at Edmonton Mall.)
Loved everything about this place. A bit of an unexpected location, in a random strip mall in deep south Edmonton, but inside Saffron has quite nice ambience. Nothing fancy, just nicely done. Went for dinner on a Monday night, with our two kids. Everyone loved it, although a couple of dishes a bit spicier than the kids prefer. Had samosas and fish pakora as starters. Then we deliberately over-ordered, knowing we would take extras home. Aloo gobi, channa masala, butter chicken and chicken vindaloo all among the very best we have ever eaten. Even the naan bread was fabulous - super fresh and light. Service was fantastic. Exemplary in every respect!
Excellent menu, food, and service. Being exvancouverites, we have had our share of Indian food. Amazed to have kerala and gol gappa which we have not seen before on a menu. They were delicious. They also had a gluten free roti and were able to cater to dairy allergy. The lamb biryani was full of big chunks of lamb. Prices are very reasonable. This will be our go to Indian restaurant from now.
Good food reasonable price, October 2015, 20 $ discount for birthday boy. Good location, excellent service. Staff is polite and friendly. We enjoyed our dinner.
Aloo Tikki was good but I wish they served some chana with it. Puri chole and chana bhatura were good too. Something I would never try again is stuffed jalapenos as they were very basic. Just plain cheese on half cut Jalapenos. Otherwise sitting arrangement and service was good.
We have had several wonderful meals at Safron. The staff are great and always go above and beyond, the food is delicious and there are tons of great options on the menu.
The place is spacious, clean, and well-lit. The hostess/server was good with her service. We had chicken lollipop, butter chicken with tandoori rotis. The chicken lollipop was crispy and non-oily. Butter chicken had ample chicken pieces and the gravy was rich. Flavour-wise, the food can use a bit of more spices for the Soth-Asian pallete.
Can’t compare this restaurant’s service and the cuisine’s quality to the other India Restaurants in the Edmonton City. The food tasted authentic Indian and the only restaurant I’d ever eat again in the city.
It’s a 4.5 rating out of 5 but this restaurant’s employees and their hard work deserves the recognition.
Very nice. Welcoming staff. Good portion sizes at a reasonable rates.
My Mother and I discovered this restaurant a couple of years ago and now every time we go to Edmonton, we always make a point to stop and eat here or take it home. They have the most amazing, dishes! The one we always get is their veg pakoras. They look as delicious as they taste and theirs are unique with all the flavours. The service is always too notch as well. I would give this place more than 5 stars if it was an option!!
I always stop at saffron to pickup the food every time I am in Edmonton. It’s my favourite place to go to.
However if the chef or owner is reading this my humble request is to use less red colour in their food.
All their gravies are red in colour.the taste is delicious but the colour puts you off.
